Those Who Have Done Laser Tattoo Removal Especially On Colored Tattoos Was It Successful

Does laser tattoo removal really work?

Somewhat. Here's what they have on BMEzine:

Tattoos can be removed... almost.

Tattoos can be removed using a variety of methods, but the procedures are quite expensive, and the results are usually not satisfactory, often leaving some ink as well as scarring.

Common tattoo removal methods include

Surgical Excision
the physical removal of the tattooed skin.
Laser
breakdown of the ink using a intensely focused light. Laser tattoo removal is presently the most common form of removal offered today. The process works extremely well on dark tattoos for people with light colored skin. Unfortunately, when tattoo inks are similar to skin pigmentation, permanent light spots might develop. This is especially true when the client has dark skin. Laser removal is also considered to be much more painful than a tattoo, and often requires multiple sessions worth hundreds of dollars. It is not uncommon for laser removal to also leave a slight scar where the tattoo was as well. Overall this is not a procedure to be taken lightly.
Again -- tattoo removal is very expensive and far from perfect. Please think long and hard about what you want tattooed before you do it!

How long does it typically take a laser tattoo removal treatment to take effect/for the area to start fading?

If the laser removal technician is using the correct laser for tattoo removal (Medlite C6 is the most effective tattoo removal laser because it encompasses all colors of tattoo ink), then you should see some results after the first treatment. You tattoo will have significant results, if not complete removal in about 5-7 treatments with this type of laser if the colors are black, red, orange, or darker blue colors. The other colors are somewhat harder to remove, taking an additional 7-10 treatments to fade them.

Is laser tattoo removal painful?

If you see a specialist in laser tattoo removal they can either apply a numbing gel/cream for medium to large tattoos. For small tattoos they can be numbed with a needle and no feeling of the treatment is felt. As with any medical procedure there can be a risk and benefit. Laser removal in general runs about a 5% risk of scarring. Costs can vary depending on where you live, the experience of the facility, number of lasers needed, size of the tattoo, and number of colors. It does cost more to remove then to put on a tattoo. Black ink and shading respond best to laser. Stay away from green, yellow, and teal blue colors as they can be very challenging to remove. Good luck in your decision making, hope this information was helpful. I am sure that many people wished they asked what you did BEFORE they made a lifetime commitment to getting a tattoo.

Does laser removal of tattoos leave nasty scars?

Today, lasers are the most common method of tattoo removal. They work by targeting the ink with pulses of highly concentrated light that break the ink into tiny fragments, which are then cleared away the your own immune system. However, this isn’t all done with just one treatment. The more treatments you have, the more the laser can penetrate to destroy the ink. But, the more treatments you have, the more damage you do to your skin, causing painful blisters and scabs that can eventually lead to scarring. Experts in removal therapy say that technology has advanced to the point where scarring is minimal, sometimes non-existant, but this can vary depending on the situation.

On top of being physically painful (it has been described as feeling like being splattered with hot grease), laser removal can be painful to your wallet as well. Depending on your tattoo, you may need anywhere from 1-10 sessions, each costing in the range of $250-$850 per session. A large, professional tattoo in color could cost thousands of dollars to remove, and the effectiveness of the removal still isn’t guaranteed.

Intense Pulsed Light Therapy, or IPL, is the newest and greatest dermal enhancer currently being used. Instead of laser light, it uses high intensity light in pretty much the same manner. A gel is applied to the skin and then a wand is used to emit pulses of light onto the skin area being treated. This method is said to be less painful than laser therapy, and more effective, resulting in less total treatment sessions. The bad news is that it also carries a heftier price tag – one clinic offering a price of $10 per pulse. Depending on how many pulses per session your tattoo requires, this could add up to a significant amount of money.

There are other methods of tattoo removal, but most of them are so painful and ineffective that laser removal replaced them as soon as it became available. These other methods include dermabrasion, which would actually “sand” away the top layer of skin through abrasive friction. Another method is excision, where the tattoo would be cut away and the skin sewn back together. These methods have proved to cause much damage to the skin and result in severe scarring, and are only used today in extreme cases where laser surgery is not an option

Laser surgery for tattoo removal?

The only tattoo that I have is the Lord's prayer on the inside of my right arm in Spanish (I'm Hispanic).

But my little bro is tatted up like an NBA player lmao, and he was going to remove some of his more...uh....foolish/gangsta ones....until my sisters restrained him and made him watch a video of some poor guy writhing in pain while undergoing the process.

Why does laser surgery for tattoo removal hurt so badly?

Did laser hair removal affect your tattoo?

i actually have a tattoo and i have been getting laser hair removal on my arms, and the first 2 sessions they avoided my tattoo, they just told me that they cant do it for me over a tattoo, and she told me that all these guys come in with tattoos all over their backs who want hair removal on their backs and she turns them away.
A couple days ago it was my third session and i think she was distracted or something because she went over my tattoo, but just the edge of it, the part she went over is like a curved black line. And it didnt really feel any different that the regular pain from the laser, but afterwards i noticed the part of my skin with the tattoo she went over was kind of raised up, and the skin on the tattoo was kind of peeling. Today, it basically looks like there are tiny blisters along the tattoo, only where there is ink. You can't really notice it unless u look closely.
I think it will probably be different though if they laser over a big part of a tattoo.

How many sessions will I need to remove my tattoo?

I have a small tattoo of an ak-47 on the side of my upper thigh, very close to my hip. It's the size of my palm (lengthwise), so about 6 inches. It's 2 1/2 years old and I got it done by a professional. The only colors are black for the outline and a minor black shading and brown shading for the handle. Those are the only two colors. I am my skin tone is light medium. The place that I am going to get it removed uses MedLite C5 Q-switched Nd:YAG Laser Featuring Photo Acoustic Engineering. Thank you in advance
