Thoughts On The Xbox One =]

Xbox One X or Gaming PC?

Was planning on buying a nice HP Omen for only 500$ from my in law. Specs, I7-7700. 3.6 to 4.2ghz, 1070 GTX 8 gig card, 16 gigs of RAM, 128 SSD with 1TB HDD. Regular 1400$ price tag. Crazy deal! I don't think the X even comes close.

Thoughts?

What is everyone's thoughts on the Xbox One X, Project Scorpio?

Thanks for the A2A.It is what it is. A high power, Native 4K, premium console. The information they have provided is encouraging.Previously released titles can be updated with 4K content for free. - No hidden charges.Previously released titles will still look better, run smoother and load faster with out an X patch. - the improvements aren’t just limited to X games. Its small, seriously its tiny but its got a centrifugal fan (I’m informed ‘that’s like a care turbo’) and liquid vapor cooling. - Two classic Xbox issues size and heat gone. Its not just made to “industry standard” quality but instead every part is made/chosen to do its job comfortably - this should mean it shouldn’t ‘just break’Games are not exclusive to it and still work on Xbox One / S - No one gets left behind. The exception here is VR games if/when they come to X.All accessories and games work on the X (even Kinect via adapter) - No gear gets left behind. Its 50% more powerful vs the PS4 Pro - can’t be stressed enough, its more than an entire PS4 more powerful (food for thought for the 0.4TF ‘killer difference’ between the base units.)The UK is price is higher than expected but not as bad as I feared - It’s £429 here, same price I payed on day one, I expected it to be £399 but fears it to be £550+That’s all I have for now. Overall I’m positive about the system and may even pick one up as I recently upgraded my 1080p screen to an 4K HDR enabled one and have yet to pick up an 4k Blu-Ray player. So for me this is largely a no brainer.I dont think it’s going to be a super success and turn Microsoft’s fortune around (it should considering power and resolution was often the argument for PS4 over X1) but I do think it will be loved by those who have it, and will be remember favourably.

Owners of Xbox One - What is the console like and what are your thoughts on Kinect?

The new Kinect is much more accurate than the 360 kinect, though I still haven't been able to figure out how to navigate menus with it. The voice commands are kind of cool, and make the kinect easier to use for sure. I really like being able to use the Xbox for youtube and internet, it comes with a fitness app built in, which is great for me because I have gotten big over the last year and I need to drop some weight, but there are no gyms nearby. The fact that there is a blu ray player makes it even more desirable. The xbox one has quickly become a center for all of my entertainment needs. My only complaints right now are the lack of app selection.  I would really like an option other than Xbox Music to play music as I game. Spotify would be ideal, but even just a way to play local files would be great. The game selection is pretty bad, but we have some things to look forward to, with Titanfall, ESO, and Destiny scheduled for release this year. As a researcher, I'm a little disappointed in Kinect, because they made the hookup proprietary rather than USB 3.0.  My phonological imaging lab uses a 360 kinect to monitor the head movements of our subjects, and we can't upgrade because the new Kinect can't be hooked up to a computer.

What is some information about the new Xbox One X?

The new Xbox One X, is a big step in my opinion. I think it will challenge the PS4 Pro in many ways, maybe even tempting Sony to make a new console of their own! (Maybe the PS4 Pro PS). Anyways, onto the facts!Microsoft is planning to use "super sampling" on the One X to make new games look better even on 1080p TVsThe new console will ship with 6 teraflops of graphical power, more than the PS4 Pro, with 4.2 teraflopsMicrosoft is using a custom GPU engine on Scorpio that runs at 1172MHz, an increase over the Xbox One’s 853MHz and even PS4 Pro’s 911MHZComes with h an Ultra HD Blu-ray drive for 4K movies and entertainment, and 1TB of storageIt is the smallest Xbox everThe rear of the Xbox One X is based on the Xbox One S, with a HDMI-in port and no dedicated Kinect port (which means you need to buy an adapter to use the Kinect)It can run Forza Horizon 7 in 4k, at 60fps!!!!!!

Do you think Xbox One X (Scorpio) would succeed?

The Xbox One X will certainly succeed. Let me explain before I get deep into this answer what I mean by that. The Xbox One X will bring more parity between PlayStation and Xbox market share. The most powerful console ever made has the wow factor to pull it off, but even more important to the consoles success is what was covered in the majority of Microsofts E3 presentation.THE GAMES! A powerful game system is useless without games to play, as shown by the lack of options available back when the Xbox One launched in 2013. Microsoft seems to have learned their lesson and announced a number of games we can look forward to. It's worth noting that every time a game was announced we were reminded that it was either exclusive or plays best on the Xbox One X.What this means is that you'll have a console that is capable of true 4K gaming and the games to actually make use of it.Microsoft has laid the groundwork to convert some of the market wich is decisively controlled by the PS4 family of systems. The Xbox One X has the hardware and the game lineup to do it, but surpassing the PlayStation outright is going to require more time and hard work from the Xbox team.

Do you prefer the Xbox one or PS4 controller? Why is this?

The PlayStation 4 Controller.Wanna know why? Ok. Here’s why:The thumbsticks feel a lot more smoother other than the uncomfortable texture of the Xbox One thumbsticks. The touchpad. #1 most unique thing about the PS4 controller. It allowed new players to experience the unexperienced by swiping gestures on the touchpad, which let them interact with their games more than before. I personally find the touchpad pretty interesting. Games like LittleBigPlanet heavily uses it, and swiping with it feels so satisfying! The buttons are really easy to remember. Xbox One’s controller would be harder to remember since it uses letters like A, B, Y, X meanwhile PlayStation uses Square, Circle, X, and Triangle with their own unique color which can improve hand-eye coordination a lot when gaming on a PlayStation. And not only that, but the buttons are a LOT easy to press. Little sensitive (even more sensitive than Xbox’s)Sixaxis. The most freakin’ coolest thing I’ve ever seen. Remember Beyond Two Souls? That used the Sixaxis feature almost through the entire game. The Sixaxis detection system works quite well, and it gives a better feel and interaction when playing a game that supports it.The triggers are small, which can give the players a easy handle to push it even the very slightest. It’s very sensitive and that’s why it’s the most chosen controller for FPS games. They can fit with any hand and it works quite nicely if you ask me.

What is your opinion on the new Xbox One Avatars?

They look like a mixture of the original Avatars and Sims, which is pretty good. The original Avatars were meant to mimic Miis and true they were almost as simple but weren't anywhere near as customisable as their Nintendo cousin. The new ones look like they’ll be just as ‘custom’ as the first Avatars but are much better quality and this time they are apparently going to be “aware” of their props and clothing instead of repeating set animations. My concern is “are they actually going to be used for anything?”Whats not to like? Or is this something to do with the fact you can have a wheel chair or pregnant one? (that seems to be the only complaints I’ve seen about these next gen avatars) If that’s the case it’s worth noting the first gen had these things as Props or clothing options.
