Three Things That The Little Prince/le Petit Prince Discovered About Humanity

Thesis Statements for 'The Little Prince'?

Choose one of the major themes of the book and write your thesis statement around it. Some possibilities:

The nature of friendship (the little Prince and the fox, and/or between the little Prince and the narrator)

What we do in the name of love (the little Prince and the Rose)

How "the essential is invisible to the eye" (quote by the Fox)

The limits of narrow-mindedness (adults' lack of creativity, the reception of the Turkish astronomer's discovery, attitudes of the characters encountered by the little Prince on his journey to Earth)

This is a magnificent book with a lot of symbolism and one of my all-time favorites!

In the book "The little Prince" he cleans volcanoes. What is the symbolism?

Is Antoine de Saint-Exupery's The Little Prince primarily a book for children or grownups?

I like to think that the book is for adults to read with children. Right now my little six year old sister is reading it for the first time. It is interesting to answer her questions, as I write this she is reading it outlaid next to me. I was trying to explain the part of a sales clerk and the thirst quenching pills. I found it amusing in a different way that she finds it amusing. She said "Dont you have to eat pills with water? so you still drink water right?" I was thinking about the quest of humanity to make our lives easier and our lack of appreciation for the little things... Both are thoughts sparked by that single tiny chapter... to be honest I prefer her interpretation, a less cluttered and more basic question while my 'experience' influenced my interpretation. De Saint-Exupery was on to something in his introductory message to the book, children do understand. I think adults should read it alone. Then read it to children. Then have children read the book for them. Ultimately have the children read it for themselves.

I don't really understand "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry?

I read this book in French class last year so I remember quite a bit about it.
1) I think it's a lot about childhood and life. The Little Prince honestly seems smarter than most of the adults in the book. You know how he meets all these different types of people on each planet? They all have flaws and it's just about they way that people live and how sometimes it's sooo bad for them. It's pretty deep, really. I think the Prince has found the best way to live, and the meaning of life.
2) I don't know what that meansss
3) The rose is supposed to represent a woman. He cares for and loves her. The fox is just a really wise character, maybe he's like a Godly thing. Taming is just caring for the rose?
4) They represent the main types of people that exist, ones obsessed with working, drunk ones, etc. The planets I don't think have a certain reason, just that there's one person on each and since he came from space they are just on the planets.
5) Yes, quite sad.

It is a really good book, has lots of meaning.

The little prince said: draw me a sheep, what does it mean?

just like the picture of the boa constrictor digesting an elephant, this episode is sort of the test, to see if the narrator is person with whom the little prince could really talk--like the narrator showed his picture to the 'big people' and they could only see a hat. When the narrator drew a box and told the little prince that the sheep was inside that was exactly what he wanted. As we learn later, what is essential is invisible to the eyes. One must see with the heart.

In the half blood prince who do you think R.A.B is?

I don't think its Serius's brother for two reasons. First he wasn't an exceptional wizard. I say this because serius says he's not important enough to be killed by Voldemort; the "greatest" wizard alive was inches away from death after getting the fake locket so i doubt a half wit could have done it. Second Regulus died shortly after joining the death eaters. I don't think that Voldemorts closest followers knew that he had horcrux's (See Malfoy's reckless behavior with the diary) and if his closest followers didn't know i doubt someone who joined the death eaters for a short while then was killed would have figured it out, then broken through all of Voldemorts traps. I think that it was someone close to voldemort probably one of the kids in the room in the memory, Harry Dumbledore OLD slug-club members and R.A.B are the only ones who know about voldemorts horcrux's so far.
