Yahoo News comments are being manipulated on OBL stories... why?
May 2, mid morning EST, comments were disabled on all articles related to the death of Osama bin Laden. Comments on other articles remained working. Today (May 4) a new article is released... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110504/ap_on_re_us/us_bin_laden#mwpphu-container "WH won't release bin Laden death photo" Now look at the comments. They are dated May 1 and 2! And something else sticks out... ALL THE COMMENTS QUESTIONING THE GOV'T STORY HAVE BEEN REMOVED (and there were a lot of them). The only ones that remain are the "Thank you troops" and dumb jokes like "I bet Bin Laden regrets allowing his iPhone app to use his current location". (I actually remember that one from monday, it made me chuckle.) So what this LOOKS like, is some editors went through the comments from sunday night and monday morning, gathered up a bunch that were positive and supported the narrative, and then just slapped those on the NEW article, as if people were responding to the new article. These comments are REAL, but they were cherrypicked and pooled from a different article from May 1. They didn't even fix the dates. Yahoo News is now officially fabricating its reader commentary. None of the comments are responding to the new article. No one makes any mention of the WH not releasing the photo, because at the time the comments were written, that hadn't happened yet. They are responding to the initial article from Monday. This brings me to my question: is the mainstream media now sinking to new all-time lows? How stupid do they think we are that we would not notice this?
PHP thumbs up down script?
Hi everyone, im looking for a thumb up-down script in PHP language(if exists, if no then java/ajax/html or any), it's have to be like this, small dialog which is include in it 10 names in horizontally case, and front of those names must be exists thumb up-down buttons, and next to those buttons have to be total result which shows how many people have voted for each person could anyone help me to find out this script? i really need it Thanks.
How come my thumbs up on youtube wont stay?
"Rating" a video-comment with "thumbs" is blocked on your screen for 2 important reasons. The same is also true for rating videos with "stars", as well as how total "view counts" are updated & displayed. Reason 1 is to prevent the false or inflated "build-up" of their scores. You cannot "inflate" or "deflate" numbers just because you feel like it -- thus YouTube has made sure that you are not capable of doing that. The same is also true here on Yahoo! Answers. You can't fool around with the thumbs, nor can you vote more than once. Reason 2 is really because YouTube does not update those figures right away. There will always a considerable gap of time in between when you thumb/rate/view a video and when it's figures are updated (unless you happen to click just before "update time"). This helps explain why your thumbs/ratings/views are blocked even when you delete your cache/cookies/history, shutdown, and reboot. That also explains why you see chunks of video-comments entirely missing as you go from page 1 to page 2 to page 3, especially with videos that have gone viral. And this also explains why text "replies" appear as "regular" comments when you first submit them. (Are you really "hot"?)
