It depends on which airport you use, when you get there, whether you have checked bags, and how many other international flights arrive at or around the same time yours does. I would expect 30–45 minutes, most of which is spent walking to immigration/customs from your airplane and standing in line. Your turn at the immigration counter will typically last no more than 2–3 minutes, after which you’ll retrieve your checked bags and enter another line for customs, which is usually a similarly short exchange.
At what point in a flight do I go through customs?
You'll go through customs after getting off the plane in the "another country." Right after also going through passport control there. Then you'll go through customs and passport again upon return to the USA. And as you're a newbie with flying; don't forget you'll also be going through security before going to the airplane gate in each country. Don't know what country you're going to, but some third world nations take forever going through their security checks so allow plenty of time. I try to get to the airport three hours before my scheduled flight departure. Maybe a bit conservative, but better than missing a flight because I'm stuck in security.

Once I was able to transfer to an earlier flight because getting through LAX immigration was really quick.Find out which terminal you are flying out of though. It won't be the same as the one you land at. Ground transport at LAX is confusing and it's too far to walk. If I remember the transfer bus is at the far left of the road lane outside the Tom Bradley terminal. Not obvious.Do you have a single booking for your journey? If so, then if you do miss the connection, the airline will switch you to the next flight. Annoying but not traumatic.As an aside, customs and immigration are two different activities.

Well the timeline would be following:#1. Immigration : (from Terminal to immigration) 10 -30 mins (best to worst case)#2. Baggage claim: 10 - 40 mins (best to worst case)#3. To transport for metro : 20 mins#4. Metro from T3 to NDLS : 45 mins + 15 mins(waiting of 15 mins in a worst case scenario)#5. New Delhi metro station to railway platform : 15 mins (security check is involved, so may be queued up). Please take note that platform no. 16 is the closest from metro station, platform no. 1 being the farthest. You will also need to check the platform for your train’s departure.Safe margin is (approx.) 3 hr , anything less than that and you are testing your luck.Though (often) the flights land a few minutes earlier than the designated arrival time on air-ticket.

How long to get out of Manila customs & baggage?
3 hours might be enough. Whenever I get to Manila it doesn't take more than an hour for the whole process and I'm out already. But you also have to take in consideration for flight delays and how many passengers arrived that time. Sometimes there won't be so many and sometimes there will be lots. I think it should be enough but it also wouldn't hurt if you take the 9 am. The 3 pm option might be too long of a wait in Manila. I say take the 9 am because you will have to go to a different terminal which is probably terminal 3 but don't quote me on that. And you will have to fall in line again and check in. Still the 3 pm is too long of a wait. 5 1/2 hours should be enough to get to the other terminal and check in after immigration and baggage claim.
