Tingling On Tip Of Ring Finger.

My pinky and ring finger have been tingling/numb for a week now!?

It sounds as if you have pinched or injured your ulnar nerve. Your ulnar nerve is in charge of your sensations for that side of your hand. People who injure their ulnar nerve usually complain of the same things as you are. Your ulnar nerve runs through your elbow and is the same nerve that is responsible for the sensation you feel when you hit your "funny bone" in your elbow. This nerve is very close to the skin so it can easily cause problems. You may be unconciously leaning on it wrong while sitting. If this doesn't get better soon you should see a doctor to make sure there isn't serious damage to the nerve.

Don't worry too much.. If you were experiencing a burning feeling in place of the numbness and tingling, then more serious nerve damage may be possible. But for now, try to relax. It may just go away on its own.

Finger and hand numb/tingly?

This started last sunday, and has not gone away. My ring and pinkie finger feel somewhat numb and tingly to the point where it feels as though it is somewhat asleep as well as half of my hand. I don't think or hope it is carpal tunnel because the symptoms of carpal tunnel involve tingling and burning in the index, thumb and middle fingers. I don't know what it could be, it has happened before but it went away. I do use my computer everyday and only work on the weekends as a cashier. I read that it mainly occurs in older adults and I am 18 right now. I am going to the doctor soon but wanted to see what other people think. Any ideas?

I can't feel the tip of my finger?

My fingers were slammed in the hinge part of a door, the part that only moves a short distance, quite hard. My middle finger and ring fingers were the ones effected. They both turned a bit black at the line of impact, but it passed after 15 minutes or so. It gave me a dull pain, like being hit in the crotch. Later, I couldn't feel the tip of my ring finger very well, as if I had been in the water for too long. My middle finger is fine, and I can still feel my ring finger to some extent, but some feeling is gone. It has been a couple of days, and my parents told me to wait for the feeling to come back, but nothing has changed. What should I do?

Note: It is just the final joint area of my ring finger that is effected.

Smashed my finger last week and now it's numb and tingling?

Last Thursday I smashed my finger really bad. As soon as it happened several small pin-prick sized blood blisters popped up on the tip of my finger and I immediately had a bruise/blood blister appear underneath my nail. It swelled and bruised quite a bit by that night and has been very tender, especially if I accidentally hit the tip of it. It has stayed pretty warm most of the time and I have been taking some ibuprofen to try and help it. The past day or so, the swelling has went down some and the bruise on the pad of my finger isn't looking quite so ugly anymore, it's a pinkish purple now.

But today, my finger has started feeling really numb and tingly. Honestly, it feels like it has fallen asleep... but no matter what I do to it, massaging it and moving it around I can't "wake it up". Is this part of the healing process? Or is this something not normal?

Does pain in left hand ring finger mean something?

Aside from the other answers, are you experiencing any numbness or tenderness in your forearm muscles/tendons connected to ring finger? A chronic nerve impingement in your neck (ruptured or degenerative disk, etc) can manifest its effect as pain, numbness, or weakness that translates down from your neck, through your shoulder and rotator cuff and down your arm to your fingers. Of the various symptoms that I mentioned, weakness is probably the most serious and likely merits a trip to the doc. Hopefully, it’s just an acute condition/local injury of some sort.

There is a burning feeling in the three fingers of my left hand - what can it be?

If this burning was of sudden onset, with no prior history of changes in sensation in your fingers, and if it clearly was subsequent to your handling of the pepper, then it is likely related to the Capsaicin in the pepper. Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), while causing sensory changes in the fingers, is not typically described as "burning", though it could be. More typically it is described as "tingling" or "numbness" or "sleepiness". Carpal tunnel syndrome may be associated with B6 (Pyridoxine) deficiency, though that is debated. There is even less compelling evidence for association with B12 deficiency. I mention carpal tunnel because it is so common, though there are of course other causses of sensory changes in the hands as well. If you haven't already, wash your hands with detergent soap (or vegetable oil ) and the burning should dissipate if it was associated with the pepper. If it persists I would consult a physician. Good luck.

Sometimes I feel numbness in my little and ring fingers and parts of my forearm. What can be the cause of this?

It’s called ‘cubital tunnel syndrome’, I have it as well. The ulnar nerve gets compressed in the cubital tunne behind the medial epicondyle of the humerus due to various reasons. This is exacerbated by doing activities where you bend your elbow at more than 90 degrees like pushups or sleeping with your hand under your head. Repetitive compression create scar tissue which worsens the situation. The remedy is an easy surgery where the nerve is ‘released’ and woth a flap secured elsewere. It is nonetheless a surgery.Mean while, avoiding activities that bend your elbow more tban 90 degrees and keeping your arms straight while sleeping shiuld help. Also, it does it to me when I slouch or read on the bed woth my head propoed by pillow in a semi sitted position.Hope it helps.

Why is my finger numb?

This may or may not be it, but a common cause of numbness and tingling in the fingers are carpal or cubital tunnel syndrome, where one of the nerves that runs through your arm gets pinched and trapped.

I believe (but do your own googling) that if its your pinky and index it's cubital, where your nerve is trapped at the elbow, and if its your thumb, index or middle finger it's carpal, where its trapped at the wrist.

The cause of these is overworking the hand usually by using the keyboard too much (hence why its so common), typically goes away quickly and just means you need to rest your arm :)

I would really put my money on this being it for you, since tingling sounds like it's the nerves, and its incredibly common to have tingly fingers because of this, and the fingers involved points to cubital tunnel syndrome. I use to get this a lot and my pinky tingling and getting numb was the first sign of it.

But do get yourself checked out just in case!
