First day of work at McDonalds?

It will be pretty easy at first. They will show you where everything is. How to cook everything. Pretty easy. Then, it gets harder as the days go by. You start to learn more things and you have to do it very FAST! So, your days go pretty fast because it's so fast paced. Then, when you get home you're totally exhausted wishing it was your first easy day at work :)

The store I was hired for didn't have space or time to accommodate training new staff so, I was sent to a different location to train. So, excluding that.... My first day working at my store, which is in a very busy mall wasn't great. The mall had two McDonald's locations and both made good profit. I was hired at the food court location right when school was starting so a lot of their students were taking days off for school and the location was now short on staff, hence me getting hired. In the intermediate, they borrowed staff from other locations to work at store. So, when I started, they assumed I was from another store and basically "beat me up" for being slow and not knowing what to do.I cried. I explained I am new, right from the get go... But they didn't really understood it until I cried. I was ready to just take off and quit. A manager spoke to me and said, "Sorry you are treated this way. On behalf of the others, I apologize. Our store is really busy, so it can get really hectic and people forget you're new."I managed to keep up with coworkers eventually. But, this kind of work environment and the treatment I got from my coworkers weren't any good. I'm surprised myself that I stayed there for two years. And, through that two years, I've actually just left in the middle of my shift, at least twice, not telling anyone because I was very frustrated by how everyone was treating me and the workload they out on me. Of course, they had to give the talk everytime. But, I stayed until I found a better workplace.Over the course of my employment there, I learned which positions/stations I had to talk least with my coworkers or be able to work independently while still helping the team. That's how I became the Grill Master. I can cook all the meats, fry the fried stuff, and wash dishes nearly all at the same time. I liked that routine. They kept me on that routine for a good portion because nobody really liked the grill station, and nobody really had the time to wash dishes efficiently.

First Day at McDonalds?

I just had my first day at McDonalds today and I already feel like quitting. Other staff seemed to be laughing at me, and the fast paced environment and computer system just wasn't in my grasp. I'm sure with time I could totally get pass that, but I was completely dejected when my crew trainer showed me my schedule for the week. I work for 35 hours! I'm a full time student attending college and when I applied to McDonalds I asked to work for 20 hours. They have me working from 12-8 on Sunday. I have a Human Anatomy test on Monday as well as a lab quiz. I also have a psychology test Tuesday as well as a paper due Wednesday. I'm freaking out right now and am getting really stressed out. I have so much to do and I don't know if I can do it all. I want to quit but I don't know how to do it the right way. Should I call? Go into work tomorrow early and talk to the manager? Please help, because I really just think that I messed up applying for this job. (Please excuse the grammar issues with this question but I wrote this really fast).

First day at mcdonalds?

show up a few minutes early. esp. if you're getting your uniform that day (make sure it fits). if they are busy, such as a line out the door or backed up in the drive thru or whatever, wait to the side for a chance to speak to the cashier or other employee. they WILL BE looking for you that day. let them know whats up and when they are able they can get you set up. they will have someone work with you or put you on a computer for the beginning of your training.

First Day At McDonalds?

I just had my first day. It was HORRIBLE. I think my case was a special one though.
First off I got there like 2 minutes before i was suppose to be there, my manager told me to come back in 4 because i was too early, so great my clock is off.
Next the store manager told me to watch a video about the cash registrar and to come out to the front when i was done. I finish it and come out, the other manager told me to watch the person at the cash registrar.
She told me to grab a cup of coffee. Now getting coffee isn't that hard, but when you're new to the place you have no idea what to do. Then she gets the coffee and i return to watching over her shoulder. Next thing i knew she said that i can try.
So i do, after i take the order i look behind me and she is off doing stuff with the food. Okaaaaaay thanks for helping. The next hour was hell, people shooting out orders 100mph and im sitting here trying to find the first item on their order.
Finally by my last hour i had gotten better at finding things and the manager comes to "train" me. It was like not knowing how to swim and being thrown into the pool and being expected to swim perfectly. Then the original girl from the registrar comes to further train me.
Seriously....i was so done by the end of the day. I just wanted to go home and cry, and i kept telling myself that this is how the "real" world works and i just had to get better, but right now i'm so done.

Here's the deal:Flexibility: About a 7/10. I have had to cancel important occasions just because I couldn't get someone to take my shift. However, I've been able to work the days and hours I chose for the most part.Difficulty: 8/10 easy (10 being easiest). Mistakes are taken lightly. It's an easy place to grow and learn. However, it gets very difficult when you are short staffed and flooded with dinner/lunch/breakfast rush. A lot of people (customers) overlook this because they don't know what goes on in the kitchen. Some of the work involves heavy lifting (unloading truck, pulling grill to clean behind it, etc). Some of this becomes monotonous when you are working a low-skilled/low-paying job. Be prepared. Some of us really aren't paid or rewarded enough. Your coworkers might not even help you out enough. In fact, I've had to unload the entire truck myself before. I almost walked out that day. To top it all off, they asked me to stay longer because it was busy. That was one of the worst days ever.Rewarding - 5/10. It's NOT the place you want to stay for the rest of your life. In fact it becomes a hellish job. You get your shitty paycheck (100 bucks a week for me), and go home and try to forget about all of the jerks and underappreciative people that you may encounter. (Boy let me tell you McDonald's is like a magnet for those type of people). It makes me realize how lucky I'm to be in college. For my consistency, instead of getting a bonus I get a fucking years worth of coupons? Fuck that, just give me the money those coupons amount to instead. I'd rather no bonuses whatsoever than that insult of a reward. So in conclusion, it's an easy job to learn, but it becomes a bitch to your life. I know 100% the outlook of my managers: they want me to work there as long as possible (Because I'm good and consistent. They wouldn't have kept me this long if that wasn't the case). They don't care much about my personal growth (Why would they? They work at McDonalds too). I recommend McDonald's as a starting point for something else that will be more rewarding. After all, it really isn't much better than any other fast food job.Seriously, has anyone who has answered this question so far worked one day at McDonald's besides me?

First day at Mcdonalds?

So basically, I have my first shift coming up on Saturday, and I'm really nervous about it and don't know what to expect. So some questions if anyone can answer them

How do I do my hair (I'm a girl)?

What should I wear for pants? They gave me a pair at orientation, but they're gigantic on me. 4+ sizes too big.

Do I just walk back into the employee office through the dining room or what? There's probably a back door, but will I get yelled at for using it?

How do I clock into the system? It's a computer and we got a code thats we're supposed to use for it, but do I just enter the numbers or what?

Do I report to the manager after I clock in or anyone else? Also, do I need to tell them I'm leaving or just clock out when my shift is over and go?

What will I do during the shift? I'm 15 and apparently that means I can only clean and do the real dirty work, but will I have someone showing me what to do or watch some stupid videos showing me how not to murder anyone with a squigee?

how do I work exactly? Would the person in charge of me tell me to do something, I go do it, then go back to them for more things to do?

Should I try to make friends with my coworkers? I can't really see a reason that everyone would have to be working so diligently that they couldn't talk with each other or something. Will they haze me for being new or be nice/helpful with stupid questions (I know personalities differ, but in general I mean)

I'm sorry I asked so many questions

Tomorrow is my first day at mcdonalds?

Congrats on becoming a member of the McTeam! I am a crew trainer on the McDonalds in my residence city. While you walk in go up to the counter and tell them your title and anybody will direct you to the place you have got to go, most McD's have a crew room so that you can go to. Im definite all McDonalds are one-of-a-kind, but you frequently will watch some E-learning, and gain knowledge of some general hands on stuff: tips on how to clean the foyer, the restrooms, the lot, where stuff is placed and different quite a lot of things. You'll probablly go over some SOC's (Station commentary checklist's) and it will be very low key, even though it is going to look boring, day one is likely one of the essential days of your McDonalds profession! Good good fortune!

What do I do on my first shift at McDonalds?

Take it easy. Nobody expects you to know how to do anything. The first day is filling out paperwork and training. Just remember that EVERY task you are trained to do has been done by EVERYONE working there, including the Manager. You will be learning the McDonalds way of doing things. Their way has been well thought out and the best way to do each task. If you think a different way could be better, keep it to yourself until you learn it all. Follow directions and LISTEN & LEARN.
Perform each task like you want to be the BEST there at doing it. That's what ANY employer wants, not just McDonalds. Workers who don't care, listen, or do their best get the menial, cr-p jobs.
Wear clean cloths and shoes that will give you some protection from hard floors and spills on your feet of hot & cold liquids. This is not a fashion competition with the other girls. You will be issued a uniform. DON'T forget to wear it COMPLETELY ! You'll be sent home to retrieve any item you forget { like proper shoes } AND get written up.
Working there will teach you discipline and responsibility. There is also opportunity for those who like or want it.
