Tips For Getting Braces

Getting braces off.. tips?

I remember when I got my braces off, I thought my teeth felt so slimy! I had mine for about 2 years. It doesn't hurt when they take the braces off. They do it one bracket at a time with this little tool. Then there is a lot of other stuff they do to your teeth after they are all off including cleaning, ect. For me, it took about an hour and a half. But it goes by fast since you are soo excited to get them off. Then comes the retainers...for your bottom teeth, they put in a semipermanent one on the back of your six front teeth. Don't worry, no one can see it and yes it does feel a little weird. On the top retainer, YOU WILL HAVE A LISP!! haha but don't worry I thought it was funny and I said s on purpose just because it sounded cool. WEAR IT AT ALL TIMES unless you want your teeth to go back to the way they were before you had braces! And that's about it...(: also, I had rubberbands too and it felt a little uncomfortable after they are off, like they were moving back to the way they were. Just wear your retainer and everything will be fine. (:

Im getting my braces on in an hour? any tips?

they will give you wax to put over your braces, DONT USE IT! They will bother you for a little while, but if you use the wax you will never get used to the feeling of them plus the wax likes to fall off esp. when you are eating. I would suggest getting a water pick, it helps to clean your teeth better with your braces being in the way.

Any tips on getting braces off asap??

There's really nothing you can do to speed up the process except follow your dentist's/orthodontist's directions. If you don't, it'll just make the process longer.

Any tips for getting my braces off ASAP?

I've had braces on my top teeth for about a year now, my orthodontist said they'll be off in around 5 months, but is there some exercises I could do to help tighten them to help me to get them off soon. I hate them and I look like ugly Betty with them, I am in the teenage modelling industry, I just don't want to apply for any jobs at the moment as I'm sure braces won't fit their criterias.

Be sure you brush and floss really well before going in to the orthodontist, bc as far as I remember they didn't clean my teeth or apply anything to them so whatever is on them when you go in is going to be under the glue holding in the brackets for a while.
They put those mouth-holder-openers in your mouth which kind of stretch it open-- go in wearing chapstick too so your lips don't crack as much-- and then they put on the braces. It doesn't hurt, but immediately afterwards it feels a little tight. The pain only comes after a few hours. Probably 2-3 days of it at most. It's not that bad, just a little distracting and it makes it harder to eat. You really only feel tightness instead of pain unless you move your mouth or clack your teeth together. However, the back of your lips/gums will also have to get used to braces, so you'll probably develop some sores, bleed a few times etc. The pain all goes away, but for me it came back the first time my teeth were tightened. Each time after that, I didn't feel any more pain bc they were mostly done moving my teeth and all of the major adjustments were finished.
Having braces hasn't limited my diet at all. They say not to eat popcorn, gum, sticky candy, etc. If I were a better person I'd probably advise you not to continue eating these things. But, I'm not. Live your life and eat whatever you want. The worst it could do is cause you to break a wire, and that's never happened to me.

What should I do after getting my braces off?

1St thing you do…like Mr john said..Flaunt it!!you might have for long havent put up your best smile at times, now is the time to relive all of it and make merry..Scalling(cleaning)..make sure u get that done between 6months to 8 every year..Keep an eye on all the teeth which has been re aligned ..any little changes do visit your orthodontist..Get a radiograph done just to see how good or bad the bone is around the teeth.Alveolar Bone undergoes lot of stress during orthodontic treatment.Make sure you dont have any mobile teeth immediately after the treatment and keep an eye on that for the next 2 years.Dont go to bite anything hard or try to be heroic or smart(trying to remove anything from your teeth,eg-removing beer bootle cap)There are many factors for a orthodontic treatment to fail. That is relapse(teeth going back to the position or place what they were prior to treatment).some factors are in your control, some in dentist and some in nobody's control. So to keep an eye on this, have a regular check up done, say once in 3 months for the 1st 2years,once in 6months in the next 3years so on and so forth.Basic idea is to visit your orthodontist often.Refer to google.pen down all those new things you come across and next time when you visit, talk to your orthodontist on the same.M sure he will help you with that.(even the most silly questions are welcomed)Hope this helps.Good luck.

Any tips on getting braces off faster?

I've had braces for about 5 months. My ortho said I'd have them for about 18-24 months. And I know I still have a long time to go, I just want them off as quickly as possible. I'm currently wearing elastics and I'm really good about wearing them. I've only been wearing them for about two weeks now (since my last app. and my next one is around the end of next month). I'm just wondering if there's anything that you've done or you've heard of doing (that worked) that could speed up my time with braces?

Im getting braces today can u give me some tips?

The first tip I can give you is: LISTEN TO YOUR ORTHODONTIST. The last thing you want to do is to stuff up this opportunity- trust me, it is an opportunity. Braces gave me a killer smile and I am eternally grateful that I had them when I was young.
You prbably won't be able to eat very hard or chewy foods. The whole thing about it is to try not to damage your braces or get food stuck in your teeth that your toothbrush might miss. Stuff like popcorn and chewing gum are out. They also say you shouldn't eat apples, but if you cut them into small pieces you should be fine.
Tips:
* Make sure you floss daily. This will get rid of food that is stuck in your braces and will help prevent gum disease and cavities.
* Keep a toothbrush and paste with you all the time. I used to have embarassing post-lunch moments when there'd be stuff stuck in my braces that only brushing could remove (sounds gross, sorry).
* Get yourself some tee-jel or other stuff that they use for teething babies. Sometimes when you have braces they can cut your gums and this stuff will help numb the pain.
* Don't eat hard toffees (the mess, pain and cavities are not worth it)

What should one know before getting braces?

Being myself having braces, I should tell you my own experience. The Don'tsDon't chew on to hard food likeGumNutsCorn on the cobPopcornHard candiesGummy bearsTaffyAppleCaramelsIceDon't have sugary or acidic food and drinks too often.Don't brush too hard.Don't rinse your teeth just after eating. The DosDo eat soft food likeMashed potatoesSoupPasta, noodlesRicePancakesDairy (includes cottage cheese, milk, etc)SmoothiesMilkshakeYogurtPuddingJellyBest treat - Ice cream. (Not only it's amazing but also it boo away the pain)Every sugary food and drinks causes acid attack on your teeth for up to an hour after you eat, leading to tooth decay. Also, if your oral hygiene habits are poor and if food and sugar are left sitting on your braces or teeth, this may cause staining.Reduce decay and the risk of staining by avoiding sugary sna ks and rising your mouth with alcohol free fluoride mouthwash to help neutralize the plaque acids. Now, you've to take 2x care of your teeth because the stuckup food can cause great trouble! You've brush more often and nicely !Take painkillers on time because it f**cking hurts if you miss any!Put wax on the places that hurts.Use toothpicks to remove the stuckup food and carry it always or else your tongue will be tired and won't even be able to get off the food.Your diet is important when wearing braces. If you are interested in straightening teeth, but don't want to alter your diet Invisalign may be the braces for you! Invisalign clear braces are completely removable, so you can pop them out before you eat and avoid an damages to the braces. At last cherish your braces journey, it hurts a bit but it's fun!
