Tips For Looking After Small Children Aged 2-6

At what age to children typically start adding small numbers?

Kids usually begin to learn addition at around 3. Some do take till 4 or 5, but typically I've noticed that by 3 or 3.5, kids who have already learned the alphabet begin the next logical progression toward math.

From an early child development viewpoint, toddlers are programmed to learn from the environment around them. Using phonics (either taught formally or informally), toddlers learn to read and speak.

And once they do that (even as they are learning to read) they are attracted to numbers, figures and are able to add them in series ranging from 1 to 10 (like 1+2+3 or 2+4+6... single digit addition).

The quickest and most important part of a child's early learning happens before they turn 5.

Tips for babysitting 6-10 year olds?

Well, here are some tips you may need:
When babysitting an older kid (8-11 year old) they may feel the need to challenge your authority because you're not really a "grown up", a lot of girls who are babysitting kids this age just try to go and be the child's friend, which usually gets turned against them because the kid thinks they can do whatever they want. So, the best way to do it is, be a friend to her, but always make sure that the level of authority is there and be firm about the rules. My sister babysits and is always trying to be the "cool older friend" to the kid, rather than an authority figure, and in turn the kids don't respect her at all.

How many times oral polio vaccine drops should be given during the first year of a child?

Polio is caused by poliomyelitis, is a highly infectious virus. It enters the body through the mouth, in water or food from an infected person. In most cases, the infection becomes mild and the person will recover fully after a few days. But in 5% of the cases, the virus goes from the intestinal tract to the bloodstream and can damage the nerves. This leads to paralysis, breathing problems or even death. Hence, our only defense is to vaccinate ourselves against it. Kids upto five years are at the highest risk of being attacked for their underdeveloped immune system.Children should be vaccinated with four doses of IPV during the first year of a child:   First dose can be given as early as age 6 weeksA dose at 2 monthsA dose at 4 monthsA dose at 6-18 monthsIPV is a kind of injectable vaccine currently used in countries like USA. IPV is completely different from OPV as it contains inactivated version of the virus instead of the live, weakened virus. In case of OPV, there is an extremely small risk that someone can develop polio. The risk can be completely overcome if you also give IPV to your kids. The recommended series of OPV are four dosesOne at about 6 weeksOne at about 10 weeksOne at about 14 weeks or 4 weeks after dose 2A booster at 16 monthsThere should be at least 4 weeks between each of dose 1, 2 and 3 and at least 6 months between dose 3 and the booster. Sometimes a dose is given with the first 2 weeks right after birth.

Giving a 2 year old Benadryl?

My parents want to take my son camping and he doesn't sleep well at all when they take him so my mom heard from a few people to try Benadryl to help him sleep at night. So we bought some I wanted to try it before they actually went to make sure it didn't give him the opposite effect and make him hyper. SO I was reading the box and it says only to give to children 6 years and up. So I read online a few people saying to just give 1/4 teaspoon, but I still don't feel comfortable with that and my mom is acting mad at me and saying "Fine ill just be up with him all night long again!!" So I don't know what to do. Has anyone tried to give it to a child around the age of 2? I know it wont kill him, I just feel kinda wrong about it.
What are your thoughts?
My mom also said that my son would appreciate it so he can get some sleep also, which I agree with, but is it safe?
