I lied about my age for a prepaid debit card?

Hey I'm 16 and I was born 8/6/98 but on the application I put 8/6/96 so I can be 18. They even asked for my social security number and I still got approved

I really need a debit card because I just started working and it'll be safer to store my money on a debit card. So I'm going to fill out the direct deposit form and give it to my boss.

When the money gets direct deposit to my account will the card issuers take my money for lying about my age or what? And my parents couldn't get me a debit card because they don't have the money to pay for it every month

Please tell me if I'm gonna go to jail I'm scared D: and btw I live in Illinois if you were wondering! Thanks

Can you use a prepaid debit card for redbox?

Thank goodness Red Box is smart enough NOT to accept pre paid cards....especially for the reason you are alluding to....sounds like you intend to go rent a bunch of movies for $10 and never return them. (Your statement about them tracking you down gives you away that you don't intend on returning them)

Good for them that they thought of this sort of thing to protect their business.

HELP?? PREPAID DEBIT CARD !!?

When you buy the Walmart MoneyCard (prepaid debit card), you get a temporary card that says "Valued Customer" and can be used as soon as it's activated. To activate the card, you call the phone number or website that's on the materials and enter the activation number on your receipt (keep your receipt). If you're under 18, a parent or guardian is required to complete the activation. After the card is activated, you'll receive a personalized card with your name on it in 7-10 business days.

You can use it to purchase things online, in stores, or as a debit card at ATMs. If you cash checks with Walmart, you can load your MoneyCard in the same transaction and do not have to pay the normal $3 loading fee. You can also have your checks directly deposited into it as you would a bank account, and also not have to pay the $3.

Unlike some prepaid debit cards, Walmart MoneyCard are easy to load and can be done at any Walmart, over the phone, or online. Other companies' prepaid debit cards can be loaded only over the phone or online. If you don't have a bank account or credit card to use, you have to buy a GreenDot card which is around $5. Walmart MoneyCard is cheaper in the long run.

Pre paid debit cards work at red box ?

Anything that has visa or mastercard on it they will take. They also have a sign on the side of the box that says all the payment options they take. They do not take a pre paid card because they need to have your address so they can charge you if you do not return the movie.

Where Can You Get A Prepaid Credit Card?

ook at the most important advantages of prepaid cards.

1. Prepaid card is given on the basis of your deposited money. So everyone, even those with bad credit are eligible. There are no credit checks, no employment verification and approval is guaranteed.
2. Prepaid cards can be applied online instantly. And if sufficient deposits are made there are no monthly, annual and other fees. Since, prepaid cards use the deposited money, there are no repayments to be made and hence no late payment fees and other associated penalties.
3. Prepaid cards are as widely accepted as credit cards, and they have even more acceptability than credit cards in some cases. They can be used on the internet, on phone and all other vends.

What are the advantages of using a prepaid debit card versus a debit card tied to a bank account?

You control the amount of money that is available on the prepaid card. This is handy if you're sending a child away to college and want to control how much money s/he has access to. They work pretty well for kids' allowances for that reason. As far as fraudulent transactions go, a card with a low balance on it has limited exposure, but Visa or MasterCard protect you 100% from loss due to fraud.  With a prepaid card, it's difficult (but not impossible) to overdraw or end up with a negative balance.  If you need a way to keep track of transactions or expenditures for any purpose, a prepaid card can do that. For example, if you want to track expenses for business, by using a prepaid card dedicated to that purpose, you have a comprehensive list of your expenses on that statement. If you have a recurring payment from your prepaid card, and you're having trouble stopping it, you can just empty the card, dispose of it, and get another. Also handy if you feel your card number has been compromised in any way. You can essentially leave the card empty until you want to use it. If you are hesitant about using your regular debit card for online purchases, a prepaid debit card is a handy option. The only downsides to the prepaid card are the fees. You'll either pay for it monthly, or per load, or for any of the extra things you want like ATMs or customer assistance.

Debit Card vs. Pre Paid Visa 10 points ba?

Prepaid cards have some serious advantages over your real bank account information when doing business online such as with Netflix and Roku or for paying recurring bills like a gym membership. They're particularly safe ways to deal with potentially unsafe transactions. One disadvantage is account protections but most people don't load a pre-paid with much money anyway.

There are many things in adult life that just require a credit card to accomplish it. Some you've already found. Renting a car or hotel room is another example. A good solution for those that does build credit is a secured credit card. Just about any major bank will do one - just watch out for the fees. You give them some money to hold for you, they give you a credit card that's close to that amount of money. After a while of good credit habits, they convert it to an unsecured card.

A pre-paid card functions in much the same way as a debit card and in many ways like cash or a gift card. Generally speaking, if you lose it, you've lost cash. True credit cards have protections by law and are easier to refute payments on. But, that shouldn't usually be a problem unless you stack your card with a ton of money.

No-fee, low balance, entry-level checking accounts are available out there. Most will want an opening balance of $100 and many would like you to keep that balance all the time. A really good option for those is credit unions if you qualify for membership in one. A neat "trick" that works for people your age really well; go down to the local community college and register for just one class. Poof! you're a college student with an ID as far as the bank is concerned. Free checking for college students is really common and many are eager to hand massive credit to college students as well - don't take them up on the massive credit but take their free checking.

PS: if you owe a bank some money from a past closed account - NOBODY is going to open a checking account for you until you pay that off.

Building credit - there's no ASAP to credit building. It takes years and years. If you mess up in one of those years, you start over. Protect your credit by not messing up and using it very carefully.

How do I prevent debit card fraud?

For yourself, personally? Or for everyone in general? For yourself, personally, check your credit card. Any that says Paypass or Blink or has a symbol that looks like a dot with radiating lines inside a circle are ones you need to replace. Someone with the right hardware can read them and steal them. It can offer some protection to simply wrap them in aluminum foil, but again, once you pull them out to use them, someone with the right hardware can swipe them. The Target Christmas Hack also showed that our entire system of credit cards in the US needs to be updated with more modern versions that aren't hackable.Google it. Ask around. The nice thing about using a credit card, rather than a debit card, then just paying it off at the end of the month is that you aren't liable for much, or often for anything if your number is stolen. But if you are an adult, in modern times, you can almost bet, sooner or later your identity might get stolen from you. The cops don't really pursue the crooks that do it (cops will go bat shit if someone robs a store for $20 but ignore a white collar identity thief who makes off with half a million....
