Tips On Test Taking Act To Be Specific

ACT / SAT test taking tips?

The best way to prepare for tests like the SAT and ACT is by doing practice tests in the same condition you will be in on that Saturday morning. Make sure you set a timer for the specific amount of time for each section and stick to the time so you know whether you need to go faster or if you can take your time more for the next test. Honestly the best way to prepare is to get used to the style of the test by taking practice tests. I also took an ACT prep course, and it helped me a LOT. I raised my ACT from a 24 before the class to a 28 after the class. Since the class, I have been doing a lot of practice tests and getting around a 30, so I am taking the December test next Saturday. Whether you're studying on your own, or through a prep class, make sure to take a lot of practice tests and RELAX! Good luck!

Does anybody have any tips for taking the ACT test?

You can review with test prep books from your local library and take the practice test! That will show you what you need to work on.

Some students like to form small study groups and prepare together. I would recommend taking the test twice. Just knowing what to expect can improve your score the second time around.

Either way, know that college admissions are going to weigh plenty of other factors besides your test score. Don't focus so much on this one test that you ignore the other factors of admission!

What is the best test taking tip?

Be well-rested and well-fed the day before and the day of the exam.  That never hurts.

First time taking the ACT is tomorrow. Any tips?

omgg im taking it tomorrow too && im also taking a prep class and these are some tips they gave us
1. never spend time on a hard question b/c their are still easirer questionss
2. learn to reconize easy questions and answer them first.
3. always use a few mins profing your answer sheet.
4. always use every minute
5. NEVER leave anything blank.
6. if you reach the 5min left mark pick one letter and bubble it for the rest.
ex. if your on number 53 out of 60 pick B(or anyletter you want) and bubble it in for the rest tht part of the test. then go back and take your time trying to answer them. so that way yu want run out of time and if you do you already filled in a guess.
7. stick with your first answer. if yu think an answer is C then keep it unless your 100% sure its not.
8. Eat Breakfestt.
and i never took the ACT before this is my first time as well
and time your selff. if you no there are 60 questions and yu only get 60mins. then you gotta answer 1min per question
and answer the questions that look easy first.
btw. there is nothing wrong with guessingg
oh yeah have a positive attitudee.
andd GOOD LUCKK to you and the person abovee mee (:

ACT Tips!!! Taking it Tomorrow!?

Hi! I also took the ACT in middle school and found out that it really isn't that bad. I would definitely recommend getting in bed an hour or two early, wake up and take a quick shower ( quick so that your brain begins to process faster), and eat a normal size meal, something your body won't have an unusual reaction to. In addition, if you like gum, find a pack of your favorite flavor and take it with you. You can do the same with mints or peppermints. These will just help you relax and settle into a zone. Make sure to arrive early, take your seat, set your pencils and calculator on the desk, and say a little prayer or take a deep breath and look around (find the clock, windows, etc.)

Last but not least, enjoy yourself and don't be too hard on yourself!! This test will not affect where you go to college, it's just a fun thing that you decided to do and try your best at. For inspiration you could listen to the song by Pat Benatar - "Hit me with your best shot!" Think of the "me" as the ACT!! Youtube has it - I linked to it:

Good luck!! :)

What is the best tip you have gotten that helped you when taking a standardize test like the ACT or SAT?

The most useful tip is to not give a shit. That isn’t to say that you shouldn’t try. You should try your best, but you should take the test no more than twice.College is not the only path to success. It is also often not a path to success whatsoever. Unfortunately, you’ve been lied to your entire life about the importance of college.Anyway, take the exam and relax. The stakes couldn’t be any lower.

What are some good ACT and SAT test prep tips?

Most schools will ask you submit scores from either the ACT or SAT as part of your application. Other schools are going away from using standardized test scores as part of your admissions profile. Make sure you check the requirements at the colleges you’re interested in applying to before you decide which test to take.SAT AND ACT TEST PREPARATION TIPSStart early! Find out how much time there is before test day so you can put together a study plan. Use this time to start studying the subjects covered on the test.Check to see if your school offers tutoring or test preparation classes. Practicing for the test is the best way to prepare. There are many sample tests available online. Use these, at the very minimum, to help prepare you for the SAT or ACT exams. Visit the Y2 Academy for Official SAT Test Preparation, practice plans, and instant feedback.Read to increase your vocabulary: fiction, non-fiction, new & old books, newspapers, magazines, and articles online.Try your best to take it easy and stay healthy in the weeks leading up to the test.Don’t try to cram or stay up late studying the night before the test. You’re better off being well-rested than knowing one or two extra test-related tidbits.Check to make sure your alarm is set correctly so you don’t oversleep.Eat a sufficient breakfast the morning of the test.Know exactly what you’re permitted to bring to the test. Remember your admission ticket, No. 2 pencils, approved calculator, photo ID, and watch. If the test is being held somewhere other than your own school, be sure to check the location/directions before the morning of the test so you don’t get lost. Plan some extra time to find your way around an unfamiliar building.Bonus Tip:Keep SAT and ACT scores in perspective. Yes, they’re an important part of the college admissions process. But remember that these tests are not a one and done event – if you don’t like your scores, you’re free to try again or to try a different test altogether. And, as any college admissions officer will gladly tell you, you are more than just a number on a page. Don’t forget that the college admissions process involves a lot more than just your test scores. If you’re still worried about any part of the college admissions process, talk to your school’s college counselor or sign up for a free consultation at your local Y2 Academy center.
