To Blend Nuts And Seeds Very Smoothly Should I Use A Blender Or Food Processor

Are Juicers, Smoothie blenders, and blenders the same things?

Not really, juicer ground the fruit or veg, then extract the juice, smoothie blender are suitable for making fruit, veg and yogurt smoothies, there motor is powerful enough to crush ice, and some have a trp spout to pour the contents, some blenders not are powerful enough to do this, the Ninja system, Vita-Mix and I know of a Kitchen-Aid one that blends and cooks in the same device. What you have to determine is what your going to use it for, is going to be a multipurpose machine or for one thing only, a multipurpose machine allows you some many more options, I have all the other machines, I bought a number of the Magic Bullet series, the smaller one and system with the juicer, food processor/blender and slicing unit, I make smoothies and juice with them both, most run around $80-100, but if it going to be used for a number of purposes, get a good one, $400 is alot but it is worth it.

Is it possible to pulse food without a food processor?

Absolutely! There are various substitutes you can use when you do not have a food processor or your processor is suddenly not working. However, it is good to know the fundamental principles by which the food processor works and how it is different from any other alternative. One you can use a blender. This is a close alternative since it works the same way as the food processor. They both spin blades to chop the ingredients into smaller portions. The slight difference is that the blenders tend to have smaller sharper blades that usually spin faster than the food processor. The other substitutes areHand mixerPotato RicerCheese graterAnd many others. You can read more on how to use these food mill substitutes here.

Should I get a blender or a food processor?

While they both share some similarities, they are both different enough that they don't overlap a lot.A food processor can slice, grate, mix, and do a number of things that a blender can't do.  But a blender will blow a food pro away when it comes to making drinks and generally doing what a blender is good at.  Mike Winters gives a good answer for your specific needs, especially if you don't want to lay out a lot of cash (which is understandable). Dan Holliday makes a great case for a high end blender, and indeed, I don't think you should really call a Vitamix a blender.  It's like calling a Ferrari a car.  But that's probably way out of your price range.Generally, for someone on a budget, I'd say go with a blender, simply because they are cheaper.  It won't do coffee very well, and nuts will be inconsistent, but I think I would take that and save the money.  Buy a smallish coffee grinder separately, which will do nuts as well if you don't like what the blender does (you probably won't).

Trying to make raw almond butter but its not happening....?

How to make Almond Butter (Recipe)?
Raw almond butter is made from un-roasted blanched almonds

Almonds are a good source of proteins, and have the highest amount of dietary Vitamin E. This makes almond butter very important to vegetarians. For proteins, 2 Tablespoons of Almond butter would be same as 1 ounce of lean meat.

To make almond butter, used a Food Processor at continuous operation. Salt is added for flavor. Without oil, it will make a clump of nuts. Oil is added to give it a paste like consistency. I have used Canola oil. If you are a purist, use Almond oil in lieu of Canola oil. I have elected to roast almonds for flavor.

For a better formulation for brain food see Smart Nut Butter.

Ingredients
1. Blanched Almonds : 2 Cups
2. Salt: ¼ teaspoon
3. Canola Oil: 4 to 6 Tablespoons

Method
For raw Almond butter, Skip Step 1.

Step 1: Dry roast whole almonds in a pre-heated oven at 300º F for about 20 minutes. This will release their nutty aroma. Let them cool off to room temperature.
Step 2: Add almonds, salt, and Canola oil to a food processor. Puree it to a desired consistency. Add more Canola oil for smoother texture if desired.
Step 3: Transfer the contents to a clean jar with tight lid. Store in the refrigerator.

Where can I find a nut grinder that grinds all nuts and seeds to a flour, or even better, to a smooth butter?

Food ProcessorFor larger nuts, such as peanut, almonds, and similar: You could use “ Food Processor” to grind and even make peanut butter, there are some very nice videos on YOU TUBE, to show this process, I made peanut butter using inexpensive Food ProcessorCoffee Grinder:For smaller nuts and seeds, you may use coffee grinder, it does a good job such as on sesame seeds.Mill:Some ethnic stores (Indian/Chinese) stores may have small mill, usually they are hand grinders, and they do a good job and fairly inexpensive.regardssam
