To What Age Do U Have To Pay Child Support In Georgia.

How many kids do you have to have to not pay child support?

You can be ordered to pay child support when you have no kids, so whoever said that doesn't have both oars in the water. A 21 year old Georgia man had his taxes intercepted because he owes child support for his 15 year old daughter. Apparently he was a really big boy at age 6.

How can i drop child support in ga?

if 100% of the child support is going to you, and not going to pay back any form of state aid like TANF or medicaid then you need to file the motion in the county where the child lives in order to get before a Judge.

At that point the Judge is going to ask you why you want it dropped and you had better have a darn good reason like you now make a million dollars a year because Judge's WANT the other parent to support the child in some fashion and take responsibility. If this has anything to do with you ex being so far behind in arrears that he is in jail, or anything to help out the ex the Judge will not allow it.

Jail time for owing child support?

What are your feelings on some states that give jail time to fathers (or non-custodial parents) who are behind on thier child support payments? So they lose thier licenses, homes, jobs, and relationship w/thier children? Mind you, Not all parents who are behind on thier thier child support are dirty, thoughtless b*stards...Perhaps they have valid reasons for not being current. Meanwhile, the greedy jerk who is responsible for having them put in jail has also created a broken family situation in the first place. Is this an intelligent way of aiding children?? Can minors buy spray paint in Georgia?

It depends. Most retail places have their own rules regardless if there is an actual law against it or not. Seeing as how a lot of teenagers use spray paint as a way of getting high I doubt you will find a place willing to sell it to you. Plus if a cop caught you with it and he really wanted to be hard on you he could charge you with drug paraphernalia.

Can my father collect child support since im over 18?

Im Fixing to be a sophomore in college.I have lived with my father in TN in all my life. While my mother lives in GA since they divorced when i was 2. My father did not try to get child support when we were younger because he was afraid he would lose me and my older sister which is now a senior in college. And now he has raised us without any help from my mom. And I just found out that he took out some of his retirement ($30000) to help us go threw school and to support us since we both still live at home. My mother has no car payment and lives in a better than nice house and has everything. I have told her my dad's situation and everything and she doesn't care about anything. She thinks that I should work to go threw school. And blames my car purchase on me not being able to afford school. Is there anything that I could do or that my father could do to get the money that he deserves? He will not try to get anything from her. And I just want to help him

If I owe back child support, can I be stopped from obtaining a passport, leaving the U.S. to travel the world, or immigrating to another country?

Indeed.  There are actually very few things that can prevent a U.S. citizen from getting a passport, but owing over 2.5k on back child support is one of the most common.  And without a U.S. passport, it will be difficult for you (presumably a U.S. citizen) to travel or immigrate anywhere. The child support collection process is automated to the extent that a passport will be denied to a non-custodial parent in arrears, without any additional paperwork.  In other words, nobody lifts a finger and the ban shows up in the system as soon as one crosses the 2.5k USD threshold. In my experience, most non-custodial parents who find themselves in this situation are able to get out of dodge by either contacting and negotiating directly with the custodial parent (not always feasible or advisable), or by providing evidence for an amendment to the original court order of support (usually based on a material change of circumstances).  Thanks for the A2A, User-11978101981914353371.

What is the legal age to leave home in Georgia?

Here is the law but the Police will usually not force a 17 year old to return if they called, each case would depend on the local police where you live so call them from a pay phone and ask.~

Moving Out of Your Parents' House in GA
the legal age of majority in Georgia is eighteen (18). Georgia Code Title 39, Chapter 1, Article 1.
A child (anyone under the age of 18) cannot just move out from their parent(s) home. The parent(s) are responsible for the child till that child reaches 18. You can leave your parents' house without their permission when you reach the age of 18, or they can kick you out.
You cannot leave before you reach 18, although there are a few exceptions.
Exceptions to this rule:

* If a child gets pregnant, that child can get married without parental consent and after the marriage will be consider emancipated.

* The teen can become emancipated. There is no prescribed emancipation status laws, such cases are adjudicated on an individual basis. This requires a ruling from a judge. You must convince the judge that there is good legal reason for you to be able to leave your home. In the state of Georgia on an annual basis this happens about a dozen times.

* The teen can join the military with parental consent at age 17.

Pursuant to Georgia common-law emancipation, if a 17-year-old is self-supporting, the parent(s) can grant permission for them to live elsewhere. The parent(s) can also revoke that permission at any time they choose.
NOTE: The above Posters seem unaware that a 17-year-old can now go to prison in Georgia. This created a conflict that supersedes all of the above. A child may now leave home at 17, and they cannot be forced to return, but they cannot be kicked out until 18! Call a police officer and ask.
NOTE: The above persons seems unaware that though a 17 year old is treated as an adult in a court of law and Georgia if you leave your house without parental consent you can be reported as a runaway and will face potential probation, I know I did it. And I don't have to ask a cop they called ME and let me know.
Note: The Georgia Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) invetigates and will remove a child if abuse is suspected. See Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS).
