To Women With High Maintainance Hair How Long Do You Spend Each Day Doing Your Hair

For women who keep long hair, is it very irritating to maintain and upkeep long hair?

I have very long hair. My hair is past my belly button. It drives me nuts. Daily. It’s constantly in your face or your mouth. It is SO hard to maintain it at times. Wind just makes it so much worse. It blows it around in every direction possible. Up, down. Side to side. The wind causes massive knots too. No matter how much I brush my hair, there is ALWAYS a knot. The amount of shampoo and conditioner I have too use, is so crazy. I use just about half a bottle of shampoo, and half bottle of conditioner when ever I wash my hair. Which is every Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday. It’s honestly so annoying at times, but 100% worth it in the end.

Why are high-maintenance women a bad thing?

I constantly hear/read about how guys don't like them. But I always thought that guys like women who dress well, are conscious about their appearance and make effort to look good?

I may have the definition mixed up. Will you please tell me how you define a high maintenance woman and why they are bad?

(my friend went behind my back and put our pictures up on a forum, asking ppl to compare them. Someone said that I looked high maintenance and that they preferred my friend to me because of that. What makes someone look high maintenance? Would guys not like me because I look like that??)

Do men like high maintenance women?

This male DOES NOT like high-maintenance, high-profile, "Shop 'til you drop," "Tinzel-Town" women.

A little bit of time on make-up and (casual) style is fine. Then, let's deal with important matters, such as creativity, antiwar protesting, some low-cost play...and just getting on with life (and earning a living. obviously).

The women who are like those in the series "Sex in the City" haven't a clue. They are like plastic dolls, with no substance. AND, they often play mind-games. Lots of drama.

Let's hit the art-museums, movie houses, fill some canvasses (or walls with mural-work), experiment, produce alternative radio programs, enjoy hugs and kisses, and NEVER take life too seriously.

Do men like plain janes or high maintenance women?

Not all women are one or the other. I wear heels, I do my hair, I wear fake eyelashes and a full face of make up every day, do my nails, have facials, teeth whitening, etc. No fake body parts but I wouldn't rule it out. But I am not high maintenance at all. I'm a trained beauty therapist so I do all my own treatments, for free or very little cost. I don't spend a lot of time on my hair at all, sometimes I don't even brush it after washing it, but it's long, thick and naturally wavy and people assume it's been styled. I don't care if I break a nail. However people treat me differently because they assume I am prissy. Someone even described me as an ''always perfect never break a nail'' type which is so far from the truth. I think most women are in the middle which is how it should be. Make an effort but don't let it take over your life.

How do working women who wear their long hair loose manage to style it everyday?

While I don't spend much less time on my hair than you, I usually attend to my hair before going to bed rather than after waking. Thus, it's something relaxing I can do (usually with an ebook open in front of me) before I go to bed, rather than something I have to drag myself out of bed to do. This makes it a lot more bearable. I also only wash my hair every other day or sometimes every third day (although if there is a third day I have to wear it up). Obviously everyone's hair is different and this may not be an option for you, but if you've always washed your hair every day from routine, I'd encourage you to experiment with doing it less frequently. Most people actually find their hair is healthier and easier to manage if they don't wash it every day. And finally, I use a lot of half up/half down looks. See this page on pinterest for some style ideas: Hair Styles- Half Up, Half Down. I don't usually do anything too elaborate, but just taking the front-most hair and putting it in a barrette will make your hair more manageable and presentable, while still giving you the freedom and look of wearing it down. Another easy style is making two braids or twists on either side and then joining then at the back. My favorite style is: I put my thumbs on either side of my face and drag upward until they meet, capturing the front most hair. I pull back and brush the front most hair so it is even. Then, grasping the end, I make a knot. I position the knot on the crown of my head, and fix it with bobby pins. This takes five minutes, and I often get compliments on it. Me rocking this style while arguing about something or another at one of the after-parties to the New York 2014 Quora meetup. My hair was a little limp and frizzy thanks to the unaccustomed humidity, but still presentable.

What do guys mean when they call a girl "high maintenance/materialistic?

Ive been around guys who have called a girl high maintenance and when I look at her I see a woman who got her **** together. Like me for instance, I like to keep my nails done, I like for my hair to be done,I like for my clothes to be sexy and stylish, Im the girlie girl I like lipgloss, lotions, etc. But NOBODY pays for this for me I pay for my damn self. So basically I was just wondering why SOME men feel threatened by a woman that is aware of her appeal as a woman and so she keeps her looks up? It is HARD being a woman we truly do require a lot of maintenance : you want your legs to be free of hair, smooth and soft skin, etc

Why are black woman so high maintenance?

i think all women are high mainatanace, not only black women do their nails and their hair and get matching shoes, I think most women that care about their appearance do that.. so dont generalize here.

Are Dreadlocks high maintenance?

No. And dreadlocks should NOT be high maintenance.I started my dreads by initially braiding my hair, which took an hour. I kept them braided until they locked about two months later.I wash my dreaded braids as needed, every 1–2 weeks. It takes me an hour to wash and re-twist my dreads. Twice a month, I condition my dreads which takes two hours including washing and re-twisting. I twist my them daily, as needed, using honey. I moisturize my dreads with coconut oil and perfume them with jasmine essential oil. These are the products I use on my dreadlocks:Cheap shampoo: I buy TRESemmé at Target and dilute it with 50% water. A large bottle lasts me for years- literally, years.Oils: I apply coconut oil to my dreads, at least twice a day- every morning and evening. I use olive oil for hot oil treatments and mayonnaise as a deep conditioner. I use jasmine essential oil just because it’s my signature scent.Apple cider vinegar: I rinse my dreads with ACV after shampooing. Sometimes, I let it sit on my hair for 10 minutes before rinsing with cool water. I also put ACV in my deep conditioner.Honey: I use honey to maintain my dreads, and make a deep conditioner, or hair mask, with the honey, mayonnaise, ACV, and yogurt.Yogurt: I eat yogurt daily for the probiotics which promotes hair growth. I use yogurt in my deep conditioner to nourish my hair.Heat cap: I have an old heating cap I inherited from my mother. I use it for my hot olive oil and deep conditioner treatments. The amount I spend monthly on hair care and maintenance is negligible. Most of the products I use for my hair are absorbed in my food budget.I will go to a hair salon to have my dreadlocks professionally cut. But I’ve only done it once. The stylist did such a good job, I can maintain them with a pair of household scissors. What you can’t see in my photo is the upcut underneath my hair. My neighbor maintains it for me in exchange for a girly chat and a couple glasses of wine.Dreadlocks are meant to be liberating. If your dreadlocks are high maintenance then you are dreading your hair for the wrong reasons.

Guys.. how would you define a high-maintenance girl?

high maintenance, hmmmmmm well just constantly wanting more and more. and when you give her something its not good enough, she has to have the best always, i think its a personality thing.. spoiled from day one...... yes i would go out with her but I'm sure it would be just one date,
i feel that if you give a girl something its because you want to give it to her , not because she asked, and she should be happy with what you have given to her. guys would rather buy something for you then to be nagged, dont come to us spoiled, if we want you spoilded let us do it on our own
