Should tobacco be banned and illegal in the U.S.?

There is a VERY serious, and QUITE PERMANENT fact that blocks this sort of thing from ever COMPLETELY happening…..out of the just over 600+ recognized Native American tribal ethnicities recognized at either the federal OR state level, many…but not a ‘huge” majority, by my best guess…of the tribes living east of the Rocky Mountain Continental Divide, STILL have well-protected CIVIL RIGHTS regarding their tobacco-based traditions AND use in their cultures……and ANY attempt to strip such rights from them, would most likely be met with the sort of civil disobedience that Dr. King showed any oppressed group in the USA how to peaceably proceed with (like the current Dakota Access Pipeline protests), but literally “on steroids”, as the current intentions of the FDA to MISTAKENLY regulate pipe and cigar enjoyment within the USA are being driven by both the “regressive left”, who basically want to herd every American adult into an extremely restricted (and for many, completely insincere) range of lifestyle choices that no American has ever had to suffer under before — and by corporate interests comprising “Big Tobacco” (cigarette-making firms) who want no other form of tobacco to even BE available in the near future…except the ONLY form of tobacco product that IS truly dangerous to human health if used by itself (and almost exclusively from the added toxic petrochemical content that the “big-butt firms” pump into them). We’ve seen the damage that corporate interests have done to job availability in the United States since the September 2008 “great recession”, and in influencing the latest national election’s results that got Trump occupying the White House by next January 20th, AND have sent jobs overseas and “out of existence”……and with the FDA now attempting to strip Americans of their rights to peaceably enjoy natural-content-only pipe mixtures and solely handmade, natural-leaf cigars in a non-interfering manner (usually JUST at home, in their cars and outdoors, and with a remarkably consistent record in completely respecting smoke-free indoor public space rules, as I’ve seen them do on a regular basis), any such FDA efforts on “tobacco control”. sooner or later, WILL eventually impact indigenous American tribal societies — and my sincere feeling is that THEY WILL NOT STAND FOR IT, in any way, shape or form.

Which is safer weed or tobacco?

Smoking tobacco is common almost everywhere. No one will look at you with utter surprise if you are smoking a cigarette. On the contrary if you are smoking marijuana (weed) the entire scenario is changed, people be like “oh my god you are on drugs and blah bblah…”The truth is tobacco is far more dangerous than weed. The thing is weed is illegal in most countries and hence a taboo. It is known that tobacco causes cancer. Marijuana on the other hand is not known to be cancerous instead some of the researches say that medical marijuana prevents the cancer from spreading. However smoking weed has its own health implications. As you are inhaling the smoke the tar builds up in your lungs over the years(if you are a regular smoker).Best way to smoke weed is by using vaporiser (works on the mechanism of conduction heating) which does not allow the additional tar to enter your lungs but only fine vapors.Bongs are also better to smoke rather than directly smoking.Best way to consume marijuana is in the form of edibles. The effect however is of gradual onset but is more potent than smoking and also long lasting.Their is no physical addiction (however there may be psychological addiction to some) to weed. Not a single case of death is reported due to marijuana overdose unlike other drugs. The biggest irony is alcohol and tobacco despite of their harmful effects are still legal and marijuana which is of medical importance is still illegal.

When did smoking tobacco begin?

We tend to attribute tobacco consumption to the Tainos of the Caribbean however I have trouble finding a solid date as to when they started using tobacco and I have my doubts they were the only ones. But I'll tell you it as I've learned it. The only good date I have for you is definitely sometime before 1492 CE.The Tainos smoked and chewed tobacco ritualistically. The word tobacco supposedly comes from their nasal pipe (pictured below) which they called tabaco. This pipe was used to inhale tobacco smoke deeply through the nose.Tainos also chewed tobacco leaves and rolled them into tubes resembling modern cigars, supposedly these rolls of leaves were called cojiba and they are the namesake of the popular Cohiba brand of cigars.Tobacco products as we know them didn't really emerge until the 1500s CE and with them so did regular tobacco use.My problem with pointing to the Taino as the sole source of tobacco use is other parts of the history of cigars and tobacco that kind of contradict the Taino story or make it murky at best. One is the location. I've seen Puerto Rico, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Jamaica all claim to be the place where tobacco use was first discovered. It's possible that the natives in all these places were using tobacco but none of them were likely the first if they all claim it.The other is what I've been taught about the five original tobaccos. Supposedly the only original tobaccos were Cubanissa, Connecticut, Mexican, Brazilian, and Indonesian/Sumatran, everything else is a hybrid or evolved from those five types. This alone implies tobacco use, in some form, was happening across the Americas and in Southeast Asia/Oceania but we're also told that tobacco use is unknown outside the Americas before 1492. Something doesn't quite add up.But at the very least we have the history of the Taino using tobacco in various forms before 1492. Without that we might have nothing.

Do you think that government should ban cigarettes and tobacco completely, instead of displaying just warning messages everywhere?

The government is not going to ban cigarettes as their making too much money from them. From the huge amount of taxes they levy on them and of course the tobacco lobbyists along with the tobacco industry as well there is entirely too much money to be had to prohibit them but they will look like they are concerned so the warnings keep coming.

Non tobacco hookah questions!?

Hookah pipes have a reputation for being the lesser of evils when it comes to smoking options, and from certain perspectives, this is true. Smoking a hookah doesn't have to mean smoking tobacco or taking in nicotine, which are common substances associated with smoking. But hookah smoking has its own demon — combusted charcoal — which carries health risks even when non-tobacco shisha is used.

When charcoal is burned to create the hookah effect, it releases chemicals in the process, namely carbon monoxide (CO) and polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAH). In addition to inhaling byproducts of the shisha, waterpipe smokers also inhale fairly large quantities of these combustion-related toxins — a hidden health risk associated with hookah smoking, even for non-tobacco shisha.

One recent study found that in a typical hookah smoking session, participants inhaled more carbon monoxide than someone who smokes a pack or more a day of conventional cigarettes. While hookah tobacco (or non-tobacco shisha) can be bought with very trace amounts of nicotine, or even be tobacco-free, most hookah devices are solely designed for charcoal burning to be the mechanism of inhalation. Tobacco tends to burn more slowly than many of the fruit and molasses contents in non-tobacco shishas. And so, while it is true that you aren't inhaling tobacco smoke, the sustained burning of the charcoal carries the risk of extended exposure to these chemicals. Even at low levels of exposure, both CO and PAH have corrosive and carcinogenic properties, just like most combustion by-products. For more information on how hookah smoking stacks up with cigarette smoking and some general information on hookah smoking and its history, check out Hookah pipes — More or less harmful than cigarettes? in the Alice! archive.

The social context of hookah smoking can be quite enticing because the shared pipe can evoke a communal atmosphere. Like any other decision about substance intake, it is a personal choice, hopefully one made after balancing all options.

Don't let claims of "healthier" hookah products create a smokescreen between you and an informed choice on whether to partake in a hookah ring. If you do decide to smoke hookah occasionally, know the risks and enjoy the experience.

Why did the Cherokee Indians smoke tobacco? For pleasure, medicine, or as a Religious ritual?

Tobacco is one of the sacred herbs, and was smoked ceremonially. ( Native americans don't technically HAVE a "religion", since religion implies the worship of a god, and we don't have any gods)

That said, I don't believe the Cherokee had the pipe ceremony, so I'm pretty sure the tobacco wasn't even smoked, just burned on the fire.

How can i sell glass pipes legally in new jersey or as a business?

Whether you can get away with it depends both on state law and enforcement. Ordinary scientific glass workers have been forced out of Texas where I live by harassment over buying supplies also used by bong makers. As for business, you have to collect and turn into state sales taxes. If you use a business name other than your own as a sole proprietor, you have to register a Doing Business As name. Down here it done with the county.
I think you need to visit some head shops and ask about their needs and see what the competition is putting out as well as getting clues as to harassment level.
