Top 10 Fighters Who Make Boxing Look Like A Piece Of Cake

Top 10 P4P boxers that would be the greatest street fighters?

1. Roberto Duran, who was a better street fighter than he was a boxer. He ran with a little group that sold newspapers in his native Panama and would always beat up those kids who tried to steal his space. Plus, his MANY bar fights and brawls when he got older.

2. Sonny Liston, former mugger for the mob.

3. John L. Sullivan - Sullivan had gotten fired from one of his jab, that of a plumber, because he got into a few too many fights on the street.

4. Peter Jackson - Jackson quelled a mutiny, enough said.

5. Mike Tyson

6. Aaron pryor

7. Marvin Hagler - Growing up where he did, you'd HAVE to be tough just to survive.

8. Mickey Walker

9. Pipino Cuevas - As a child he was a very angry, aggressive person. He was also a loner. Cuevas avoided the local gangs, but that did not stop him from starting fights with people (and usually winning).

10. Sam Langford

Greb of course, not sure where to list him.

@Martin - Thanks man, he would be avoided like the plague. With his one punch, bone-breaking, career-ending power, no one would want a piece of Cuevas today!

Scorpios: Are you good fighters?

I usually use cutting words more than physical violence, but there have been a few times in my life that I was so angry to the point I knew I would seriously maul someone. I don't have very much patience with people to begin with nor do I particularly respect rude people, so it probably wouldn't take much to get me fired up once a punch is thrown. I usually would let someone else initiate something physical, but once they did, they would be lucky if they left with their teeth intact! I stand 5'2" as well, but that means very little because I have mostly upper body strength. The adrenaline rush is enough to make me tear into someone, if necessary. I pity anyone who ever tries to attack me- it might be the last thing they ever do. I don't tolerate injustices well and have pretty much zero tolerance for anyone who wishes to harm me. If someone attempted to hurt me, it would only make me fight harder, I think. The few times I have been in violent situations, I have lashed out so unexpectedly at my attacker that they were immediately on the ground. I am underestimated as well, so that can be advantageous.

Old school VS new school training techniques.?

I believe compulsion training gives the dog the choice between right and wrong. I think the correct choice is far easier for them to make. As opposed to PP where they just decide if hunger outweighs, say chasing the squirrel across the park.

With PP one is counting on the treat being more important then anything else the dog wants to do. It conditions a dogs stomach and not their brain.

There is no way to create a reliable dog with PP.

I can not even imagine trying to train a dog with a reliable retrieve without using compulsion training.

PP to me is like "time outs" with children. There is just no real consequence. Dogs do not get it (no cookie), just like kids do not get it. All it is for them is a pause and then we go back to "asking" or even begging them to behave. (PP is rife with MULTIPLE COMMANDS)
Sit Pookie, sit, good sit, good sit..........

I believe dogs like children APPRECIATE a world of black and white. It is when we create "grey areas" we get confusion. Compulsion is pure black and white. The dog , once it knows what to expect, gets one command and one only, it knows what will happen either way with his choices. There is no if and or but. This can not help but build a confident AND reliable dog. Through proofing nothing is ever left to chance.

Again I have taught my dog that it is his decision that causes the next event. I believe that my well trained dog is going to choose correctly every time and on the FIRST time.

My most recent dog came from a history of abuse and neglect. Afraid of everything and everyone. PP would have just coddled that behavior. Compulsion training taught her that SHE is the one in charge of her choices, and choosing correctly emboldened her. Again it goes back for me that compulsion shapes the dogs mind. A dog with a strong mind is going to be well balanced.

For years we have been led to believe Chinese Kung Fu is the best so why do we not see Shaolin fighters in MMA?

There are many good answers here, let me just add my 2 bits: (there's a link below)I feel sad for you that you believe in movies or TV shows.MMA is a TV Show! You haven't looked hard enough, 2 MMA fighters that have KungFu training are Yi Long(shaoalin SanDa) and Roy Nelson(LuoHan). Their records are not bad.Kung Fu is the best? For what? True traditional KungFu teaches unarmed and armed combat skills, it also teaches moral values and philosophy. Among those values, not to engage in violence needlessly, be humble and suppress your ego. These teachings do not encourage a KungFu practitioner to fight in a ring.MMA is a sport. Like any sports it focuses on a skill set and has a set of rules. You win at sports by training very hard at this skills and sticking/working with the rules. All sportsmen are great athletes, but they may not perform so well outside of their environment(skills and rules). Will a MMA fighter do well in Pro Football and the other way round? Or give an MMA guy a knife and go against a Silat or Escrima fighter… who would ‘win’?KungFu like most eastern martial arts is not sport. They were meant for self defense, to finish a fight quickly. The rules in the ring would prevent a lot of techniques. Eg. KungFu (Karate and TKD) condition their arms and legs. Finger jabs and fist can pierce boards and smash granite. An eye jab by a MMA guy may result in serious injury. An eye-jab by such a KungFu guy would result in life-long disability or worst.KungFu takes a longer time to learn, it takes a minimum of 7 years to be proficient. By that time the KungFu practioner has reached sufficient maturity, in mental capacity and age ( perhaps?) not to want to fight in a ring;-) That's ironic but true, from personal experience and talking to quite a few serious KingFu practitioners and masters ( some of which has won many. Street fights).A lot of what is taught currently, especially in the West, is only a very simplified form of KungFu, it is only the shell. Most modern Wing Chun falls into that mold. Most noobs, or even experience martial artists have not seen real KungFu . There are a few good schools in the west, but very few; and they don't compete for the same reasons above. If you're are interested to find out more about KungFu check this out: (that's me!)Chee Kim Thong - 5 Ancestors Fist (Part 1) - THE MARTIAL MAN( edited for typos)
