Top Of Foot Is Swollen And Bruised But I Didn

36 weeks pregnant with badly swollen feet & ankles that feel bruised?

Oh, I SO understand where you're coming from on this. My feet would swell so badly when I was in my third trimester that I had to buy a pair of shoes a size bigger to wear to work every day. I was backwards and my feet would swell at night while I slept then the swelling would go down during the day so I always wore unlaced tennis shoes to work until my feet would fit into work shoes (yeah, that looked great with my skirts, let me tell you :-). I didn't really have any bruising but I did and still do have red marks on the inside and outside of my ankle (like busted capillaries) from the pressure. My feet also itched alot on top because the skin was stretched so tight. Also, my feet were a half-size bigger after I had my daughter so don't be surprised if yours are too - I hear it's pretty common for people who had a lot of swelling in their feet during pregnancy. Luckily, it's almost time for your little one to make the big arrival so you won't have to deal with the bloated feet much longer. Good Luck!

Is my foot broken, bruised, or sprained?!?

So i was playing soccer and i'm not sure if i twisted my foot or someone stepped on it (i think someone stepped on it) i can't remember...but i felt a sharp pain on the top of my foot (to the left of the ankle, kind of in the middle) it's not really swollen, but it hurts so badly. I can walk on it but it hurts and i sort of limp. I can't touch it because it would hurt too much. It also hurts bending it up and down and bending the toes a little bit, but i am able to. When i don't touch it, it still hurts. I don't know if it's just badly bruised or broken, it's not blue or anything, maybe just a little bit swollen. I iced it and took an advil but it didn't really do much.

Oh yeah, and it REALLY hurts going down the stairs.

I have a bruise on my leg. I didn’t hit my leg but the bruise just happened to show up. How did I get a bruise on the specific spot where the pain is?

If you truly didn’t hit your leg on anything then it is a pretty simple answer. Your leg hurts in the spot of the bruise because that is were the hematoma is, no matter what the cause. Bruising, or hematoma, is essentially bleeding under the skin. Whether the cause is external (a collision, etc) or internal (a burst vessel, muscle tear, etc) there likely will be pain involved. You need to understand that a bruise is not always caused by external trauma, but is always related to subcutaneous bleeding. When you see a bruise in this context your situation makes more sense. Your bruise was likely not caused by an external event, but it still is the result of some type of trauma, resulting in bleeding and pain.

I dropped something on my foot, is it broken or bruised?

Well, kind of dropped. I was sitting on my desk chair and I looped my foot behind a wheel on it. I didn't realize my foot was still under the chair when I sat back and pushed myself backwards with all my weight. The wheel got pushed on top of my foot with all my weight plus the force of me pushing back. I tried to keep myself from crying and I was in insane pain for like 10 minutes. The next 5 hours after that it was just constant throbbing pain. Now it's just kind of an irritating throbbing when I don't touch it. It was in the middle of the top of my foot but more towards the base of my foot. There's like a 2 inch radius where it's swollen but there's no visible bruise. It hurts when I move my toes and when I do major ankle movements. It also hurts just to lightly glide my fingers over the spot where I hit it. Oh yeah, and walking is pretty painful. I can walk, but it's really painful and I limp. Is it just a bruise or could I have fractured it? I don't want to go to the doctor if I don't have to because my parents will probably be pissed (I'm 14 and have joint problems so I see doctors all the time for injuries) but I need it to get better because in 10 days I need to go back to competitive dance practice. Usually I would just blow it off but since it doesn't feel any better than yesterday; and it's on the top of my foot so I didn't really sprain it, I don't know what to do. Is it just bruised or could it be fractured? Should I just wait it out until the end of vacation and see if it gets better? What could be the complications if it is fractured and I don't see a doctor? Wouldn't it just heal itself?

I stomped my foot really hard and now it hurts?

Hello,

First of all I am sorry that you have this pain which prevents you from walking normally.

It is difficult to say exactly what it is based on the info you provided. It does sound like a bad bruise though.

In order to get a good diagnosis please answer these questions:

1) Do you have "extra" pain when you first get up in the morning and take a few steps?
2) Did you start any sports activity lately?
3) Where exactly is the pain located in your heel (bottom/back)?
4) Is there any redness or swelling visible?
5) Is it painful to the touch?
6) Do you have high or low arches?
7) were you barefoot when it happened?

Here are a few things you can do right now:

1) Ice your heel at least 4 times a day, either by applying ice directly or by rolling a frozen bottle under your heel and arch when you sit down.

2) Avoid walking on your hurt heel/foot for a few days.

3) Wrap it up with an ace bandage

Again, if you can answer my questions I would be happy to assist you further.
You can write to me directly if you prefer, my email is in my Yahoo profile or itaiw@yahoo.com

What does it mean when you have a bruise that doesn't hurt?

A bruise is blood which is out of place usually caused by trauma. The blood fills an intercellular space and will not hurt unless it is very large and interferes with normal body function. Pain nerve endings would tell you there's a problem. Otherwise the body will absorb the blood - which changes colour as its pigments break down - until it is gone. Relax!

I dropped something on top of my foot should i go to the doctor?

I dropped a big and heavy shampoo bottle right on the mushy bump diagonal to my ankle on the top of my foot last night. I didn't feel anything pop or nothing it just fell tingly and warm and like i had dropped a shampoo bottle on it. i made a joke like i think i just broke my foot. Before i could look at it it had swollen to about the size of a golf ball. It turned so blue i thought i popped a vein it was very hard and very pain full. I couldn't even put weight on it. I was going to go to the hospital right away because i just new something was wrong. My mother took a look at it and said just put ice on it. So i did. Again very pain full for about 2 hours took some advil and it didn't really hurt the rest of the night. The swelling went from a big golf ball to like a half of a baseball more spread out and the blue turned to like a light purple. This morning i got up and it felt fine. can walk on it doesn't really hurt.its still swollen and bruised. Does anyone know what i could have done and what i should do. i dint have insurance and im not made of money so i dint need any hospital or dr. bills unless i have to and def dint want to pay emergency cost. Please Help!

What does bruising around the toes after an ankle injury indicate?

back on Saturday, i injured my ankle while playing basketball. i landed on the side of my foot, and i definitely heard a pop when it happened. it sounded like cracking my knuckles or wrist and it didn't hurt too bad, so i figured it was just a sprain.

i iced it down the first nice, and have been wearing an Ace bandage the last couple of days. the swelling went down to a point, but it is still a little swollen around my ankle.

the weird part is the bruising.. very dark purple bruises have developed where my toes meet my foot, and also on the side of my foot. a couple of inches above my ankle and to the left i have very dark bruising and red marks.

it is more uncomfortable than painful.. but if i walk on it for a while, it starts hurting. i've been getting pain on the top of my foot when i walk, and the bruises above my ankle are also sore.

ive sprained my ankle MANY times and never had this type of bruising. i haven't gotten any x-rays or anything like that on it.

My foot is locked up with a lot of pain?

You might have it looked at but You didn't say you injured it.Most likely I would say it's you need arch support for you feet.Go see a podiatrist.
