Advice for a soldier going to South Korea?
I'm going to be stationed at Camp Henry in the Daegu area, and I'm leaving very soon. Since I haven't been told much about Korea, I figured I'd come here. Internet access: I don't want to pay $40/month for that crappy Army internet which is basically a cable connection split between 200 people. Can I get internet access from a local ISP as I did at my previous (CONUS) post? Grocery shopping: Anything I should be aware of before buying strange new foods? Dangerous locals: I'm sure that I will get plenty of advice from my platoon members on this, but what parts of Daegu should I avoid if I don't want my *** kicked by a group of Korean men? Women: I already know about the "Juicy girls", and I won't be spending any time with them. What else? Korean customs: I was supposed to get a brief introducing me to the culture of Korea, including what I should avoid doing so I don't piss off the locals. They never got around to giving us that brief; only the one on diseases before they loaded my arms up with 4 vaccines. Any advice? Scams: I'll follow the tried-and-true "if it's too good to be true..." method, but are there any scams for soldiers that I should be aware of? Thanks in advance.
