What would have happened had Gandhi not been a part of India’s freedom struggle?
It wouldn’t have mattered in any way!India didn’t get freedom because of Gandhi or any other freedom fighter. India got her freedom because the British weren’t able to hold the nations that they had under their rule anymore. List of countries that have gained independence from the United Kingdom. After the second world war, Britain became a weakened nation and just a shadow of their former glory. Governing a country like India, which had a population of over 300 million isn’t that easy. [To put it into perspective, US just has 320+ million population today.] So, India was the first country to get freedom this way. Soon, many Asian counteries followed. But all of them were smaller and way less populated than India. That’s why Britain was able to hold them under control for a little longer.India getting her freedom is like this Tamil proverb. I’m not quoting that, but I’ll translate it. “A little black bird sat on a very ripe palm fruit and claimed that it made the fruit fall down”This is the palm fruit Borassus flabellifer, referred in the proverb. They are very heavy, especially when they are ripe.This is the tiny bird, Black drongo that is referred in the proverb.Don’t hate me for the answer. This is what happened. The First War of Indian Independence, Indian Rebellion of 1857 mattered. What we did in the next 90 years didn’t matter at all! Sadly so. Our historians/politicians selectively ignored writing about other freedom fighters and over 5–7 decades of this, we now know absolutely nothing about Indian history except for a man who didn’t wear a shirt and a man who loved rose & kids?
