How do I find out if I am under investigation?

I'm assuming you've done something that might warrant an investigation. In that case you should act as if you are under investigation. In other words you must not talk or say anything incriminating while on phone or web. You should watch for cars parked near your residence or work or clubs you may attend. When driving pull a u turn when suspicious and drive by your tail and see their reaction. If your associates are involved then sever ties for awhile until the dust settles. And keep your profile in good appearance. Or if you have nothing to hide it can be fun to tease them a bit. Use your imagination to keep them on their toes. Go to the airport and walk all over then run to your car and exit real fast. A few trips like that and they'll earn their money. Or park and get on a bus or take a cab, anything to play with their heads . It's very hard to physically follow someone, but a devise put under your fender will let them have full knowledge of where your car is. Leaving your phone at home is also wise, or pull the battery out till you need it. Close curtains at home and watch what you say in case your house is bugged. Or the CIA has taken control of your lap top or smart TV and is recording everything. Otherwise keep low profile

How big is a traffic court and how long does a reckless driving (speed) case last?

The trial will be quick but how long you wait for that trial can vary greatly. When I was in practice, they typically ran the represented people through first and while a traffic appearance normally didn't run more than 30 minutes counting wait time, occasionally in some courts you could be there for hours. Law of your state will be different but I think as a general proposition unless you have some incredibly great defense you need to set realistic expectations.  Remember in many places you have to come twice. First time all do is plead. If you enter a not guilt and can't get it ironed out you will have to come back for trial. Likely outcomes.1. Go to trial, at this point officer and city attorney or prosecutor are mad at you for bogging things down. Get convicted without any break. Occasionally you find a judge grumpy that you bogged things down and didn't try to work it out.2. Get convicted but judge takes pity and finds you guilty of a lower offense.3. Prosecutor or officer wants rid of it and knocks it down if you will plead to something lower.4. Officer doesn't show. Well depending on where you are that can mean a dismissal but it is just as likely someone will speak up and say "Officer Smith is on vacation and out of state" or "Officer Smith is working a call on the street" or the judge will instruct the prosecutor to find out why the officer isn't there and let him know in a few days and it gets postponed (and you get to come back a third time).5. You do have a good defense and present it will and are found not guilty. Generally speaking, you don't want a reckless. Insurance companies hate a reckless and ding you pretty hard. Ideally you want some sort of probation or civil penalty or diversion so you don't have anything reported. If the officer wrote it as a reckless, it may well be the best you can get is a lower level of speeding or a careless driving.

Does jail time show up on a background check?

It probably would, but it depends on a lot of factors. It is important to note that the same would probably be true for person B. In case you're curious here a some factors that might affect the likelihood of it being detected by a background check:How long ago did it occur? newer records are more likely to be recorded in a central database that make them easier to find. Older records are more likely to have lost or destroyed (e.g. in many jurisdictions records can only be reported for a limited amount of time). Was the charge deferred? if it was, the charge will be dismissed at the end of the deferral period assuming the person complied with terms of deferral.Where did the crime occur? It more likely that a record will be found if it occurs near somewhere you are known to of lived. I.e. they may not even bother to look at out of state records. How thorough is the background check? and who is conducting it? How good was the court at keeping records? There is a small chance that the court misfiled  or failed to file your record in the first place, making it difficult or impossible to find later.Could you be misidentified? For example, if you have a common name, and they failed to collect sufficient information to identify you it maybe difficult or impossible for them to prove that it was you and not someone else with the same name. Or if the record is under a different name that they don't know about.Obviously the courts and those doing the background checks are aware of these challenges and so they will take steps to mitigate them, so for them to fail to find something (that wasn't removed for legitimate reasons) would be fairly rare. Also, just because one background check fails to find a record doesn't mean the next one won't, there is always an element of luck.

If you get a speeding ticket in Hawaii, does the police officer need to be present at your court date?

Livit: Great question! Since the cop would be the State's witness against you, and perhaps the only one who can offer any testimony/evidence about what happened, the State better have him present. Thus, if you show up to your court date and request a trial, if the cop's not in, that could mean a win for you. That said, some states have enacted radar speeding statutes that allow a radar "camera" to measure your speed and zap you (in which case you get a nice little letter in the mail!). I am not familiar with these since they don't have them where I practice law in NC, but it seems if they have passed Constitutional muster then it may mean there are some scenarios in which the cop need not be present in order for the state to proceed against you in a contested case. I do not know of any cases in which a judge may use the citation itself (standing alone, without the cop) as evidence of what happened (that would violate many long-standing principles about hearsay evidence which are themselves rooted in the US Constitution, the right to due process, the right to confront witnesses etc). If you want to know more, try http://BernieSez.com It's an e-market for traffic tickets. Post your case securely and REAL lawyers like me see (but who practice in that jurisdiction) can comment on your case, answer questions, give advice, quote fee etc. Great resource if I say so myself! What are the common problems faced by Air Travelers all over?

Delay:It's the most annoying thing for an air traveller. Delays are inevitable during extreme weather conditions but some flights were delayed in India for the most stupidest reasons. Sadly, all of them have come from our national carrier Air India, Here are few1) Missing cabin crew led to the flight stalling at IGI airport 8 hours after departure time. (Flight route Delhi - Adelaide)2) Chennai to Delhi Air India flight was delayed by more than two hours because the pilot and an engineer have started fighting in the cockpit.3) Can you believe that our national carrier don't have any back up pilots. Air India Delhi to Mumbai flight was delayed by three hours after co pilot fell sick.4) Air India Delhi to Kolkata flight was delayed by ten hours because they didn't have an aircraft.Baggage:You might make it to the destination on time, but there is a always chance that your bag won't. Air travellers usually complain about lost, damaged or delayed luggage. Refund:Some airliners have complex refund procedures. If you want to cancel your ticket, which attracts a cancellation fee. It varies with airliners. If you don't do it in a specified time frame, you will end up losing more money. Customer service :Customer service is pathetic in some airlines. Srilankan, Oman, Air Arabia flight attendants are very rude. I had a terrible experience flying in srilankan airlines. Food was served two hours after the take off, I had asked one of the flight attendants to bring me a cup of water, she hadn't turned up as she was busy in chatting with her colleague. Discrimination:Recently a flight attendant refused to give Muslim passenger a can of soda out of fear that she would use it as a weapon. This one went viral and eventually the flight attendant was sacked but it's still happening.Source :huffpost.comwikipedia.org
