Transferring Abroad What Do I Say

How would I transfer abroad from Goldman Sachs or Morgan Stanley to another of their offices in a different country?

I joined Goldman Sachs in London, and moved after about 2.5 years to New York. I subsequently moved back to London, then back to New York one more time for good measure. The possibilities for relocating internationally are as good or better at global, talent-oriented firms like Goldman and Morgan Stanley than they are anywhere. The potential and options will depend somewhat on where you are now and what you do. For example, not every function or business unit in such a firm is necessarily represented in every location. And transferring between regions AND functions at the same time is hard, so that sort of arrangement is less common.Above all, be patient. You’re going to need to build a track record of at least two years in my judgement before a firm is going to be ready to make that kind of investment in you. But if you work hard at what you do, maintain a great attitude, and signal to your manager that this kind of a move is important to you, firms like these can make them happen.

Can I transfer money abroad from India via Paypal?

I’m afraid to say that you can’t. However, all invoices and purchases can be made via paypal internationally. You can have someone send you an invoice via PayPal and then you can pay that invoice with you credit/debit card.If you are not satisfied by that “workaround” there are plenty more options to choose from. Take wirecompare for example. Just choose which country you want to transfer money to from India, the amount you want to transfer, and voila - you get all the best options you want.

Moving abroad, must re-home my dog...?

Where DO you get the crazy idea that "to England and I think a move like that is just too stressful for an animal"? Assuming that you come from the biological dangerous USofA your pet will undergo about 24 hours being checked & flown, then have to spend 3-to-6 months in a quarantine station (so pick one in your new area) and will be DELIGHTED to greet you there as many times a week as you can visit her.
I have flown 2 English bitches and 3 German bitches from Britain to New Zealand, which is about the furthest a pooch can fly without heading back home again. All arrived in top-notch condition. And that was 30+ years ago when planes weren't as fast as nowadays.
For such a long journey, the air-fares cost me more than the GSDs did.

A Scotsman migrating to NZ used my little private quarantine station for his Labrador, and was so pleased with how happy she was with us that he took us to a special dinner after she had been released.
Yet you claim to be worried about the tiny trip across the Atlantic!

I don't know YOUR pet's nature, but most dogs get more stress from being dumped in a boarding kennel than they do from being flown around.
6 weeks is PLENTY of time to contact a dog export agent and find out what inspections & certificates your pet needs, and what quarantine stations are available where you are heading.

But if you are determined to abandon your pet - yes, that's how SHE will see it! - then do it cold turkey. As of when you desert her, you communicate with her new family by telephone or e-mail only.

Decisions on moving abroad, or staying in the U.S?

I've been dreaming of attempting an expat lifestyle abroad, moving to Belgium after High School and forcing my way into a new culture and studying a new language. I chose Belgium for several reasons, its high quality of living, central location in Europe, diversity of cultures, its multi-linguilism, high quality of education, and the list goes on. I spent last year as an exchange student in Russia, and so I know how much I enjoy the rough waters of learning a new language and culture. The problem, money. My mother left years ago, and my father is currently injured and been out of work for most of the last two years. I'm working two jobs as well as going to school to pull in all the income I can, saving over half of it but I'm afraid it may not be enough to be able to afford all the expenses I'll have to put out in Belgium.

But recently, one of the girls that I work with at my restaurant job said she wants to venture out of our small town and set her sights on Colorado Springs, CO. She keeps asking me to go with her, since she's a little too worried to go on her own, and I'm torn between saying yes or no. I want to say yes, because it sounds exciting to start a new adventure in a new city, but I want to say no for two reasons, I know the girl only on a baseline level since I've worked with her for only a few months and also I think if I were to go to Colorado, I would certainly lose my opportunity to go abroad.

I'm looking for any suggestions and tips about the topic, mostly from former/current expats as to how much I should budget if I were going to try and go abroad. I think most of you can see that I've done A LOT of research and planning so my heart truly is set on the idea of life abroad. Any help would be appreciated, and if anyone needs more info, email me at senkiasenswe@hotmail.com

Will moving abroad change my life for the better?

A2AI think living abroad temporarily is the best thing that you can do. Even if it's just a neighboring state or country. Even if it's just a month. When you're away from your friends, family, language, and any familiarity.. you're forced to really evaluate who you are, what you like, how your society functions.Seeing another place is a firsthand opportunity to see what parts of your life are dictated by your surroundings and what parts are actually you. Seeing another place allows you to delve into another world and learn about something unfamiliar. It allows you to learn to communicate without language.I think that you cant truly know and understand yourself and your society without seeing how another world is.

Without joining employer B, can I travel abroad and re-enter when my H1B transfer with employer B is pending or can I travel abroad and re-enter after my H1B petition with employer B is approved?

There’s a lot of back and forth on this. Some law firms say it’s fine so long as you have a valid unexpired H-1B visa and some say that you should wait until you obtain the approval notice. If you travel outside the US while your change of employer petition is pending, USCIS might say that you’ve abandoned your petition and status and approve your H-1B as consular processing instead of an extension. You should ask the attorney that will be helping your new employer prepare your transfer and see what they advise. They might recommend to your new employer that they file your case via premium processing.*Please note that I am not an attorney and that this should not be taken as legal advice.*
