Transferring To Uc Davis

Transferring from UC Davis to UCLA/UC Berkeley?

I'm currently a freshman at UC Davis, majoring in History but I would like to explore the possibility of transferring from Davis to UCLA or Berkeley as a junior.

I'm inquiring if that would be possible (I know UC to UC transfer rates are low, I'm concerned with technicalities) and if so, what classes I would have to take in the major or other pre-req classes needed to make a successful transfer. Please be as detailed as possible.

Note, I'm trying to find expert or insider information regarding this but any other answers are much appreciated.

Transferring from UCSD to UC Davis?

I am currently a freshmen at UCSD, but due to AP classes I already have 41 units down and have fulfilled most of my GE's for my college (Sixth). I am a communication major. I'm planning on transferring to UC Davis for Winter Quarter 2012 and do the same major, but their major prerequisites are some classes I have never taken and if I do take them, will fulfill GEs at UCSD that I have already fulfilled. Is it a good idea to take these classes for a letter grade anyway, take upper division Comm classes that are transferable in the fall, and ignore the remaining three classes I need to fulfill UCSD GE's?

How do I transfer from UC Riverside to UC Davis?

To be competitive for intercampus transfer, you should complete the general education and major prerequisite requirements at UCR prior to the end of your sophomore year. The UC reciprocity agreement allows you to use the requirements from UCR to fulfill the requirements at UCD.

Transfer admission is selective by major and Biochemistry is a very popular major at UCD; therefore the admit rate is a bit lower compared to other majors. When you apply, be sure to specify an alternate major outside of College of Biological Sciences to ensure successful transfer.

How can I transfer into MIT from UC Davis?

The most important thing to show MIT is that you need to go there in order to reach your full potential. Quantitatively, this is achieved by having a 4.0 at UCDavis, or at least being just one class off from it. There is no better indicator that you aren’t being challenged by your current university than by having a perfect GPA. This is why it is advantageous to transfer after this one year.It sounds like you might by a rising sophomore. Be aware that MIT does not accept anyone with more than half a bachelor’s degree as a transfer, so you will need to work quickly this year. Make sure to convey that MIT (or comparable institution) is what you need given that you aren’t currently being challenged enough, and explain how MIT will change your exploration of the world.

Sacramento State transferring to UC Davis?

I'm an incoming second year at Sacramento State as an undergrad and I was wondering if it's possible to transfer straight to UC Davis by the time I'm a junior. Is it possible? Or do I have to take the community college route instead?

Transfer from UC Davis to UC Berkeley !!?

Hi there,

I'm an international student and now I'm studying Chemical Engineering at UC Davis ( 2nd year ). I found Nuclear Engineering is an interesting major for me. So I tried to change or double my major to Nuclear Engineering in UC Davis. However, they don't offer Nuclear Engineering major. Therefore, I looked into other schools trying to find that major and, fortunately, I found a major called Chemical Engineering/ Nuclear Engineering in UC Berkeley. So now I am willing to transfer to UC Berkeley. I have some question about the transfer process and they are:
1- What are my chances to get in? GPA (3.70) / No extracurricular activities just community serves.
2- Is it harder to get accepted because I'm studying at one of the UC schools? Because they might think that there are getting the money from me anyway so they should give a priority for the other guys who are transferring from other school, out of the UC system!!
3- Is it true that there is a priority for the students who transfer from the community college and how that is gonna affect me?
4- Is it harder to get accepted because I'm an international student?
5- Do I have to take the SAT's again? My scores were bad when I took the test two years before...
5- What should I do NOW to make my application stronger ?!!
6- Should I talk to someone in UC Berkeley or UC Davis?
7- Is it gonna make my situation better that I'm transferring to get in a major that's not offered in my school?

I know these are many questions, but I really need some answers for them :(

Thank you so much ...

Transferring from UC Santa Cruz to UC Davis/UCLA?

What you want to do is called intercampus transfer. To be competitive for intercampus transfer, you should complete the general education and major prerequisite requirements at UCSC prior to the end of your sophomore year. The UC reciprocity agreement allows you to use the requirements from UCSC to fulfill the requirements at the other UC campus.

Apply for transfer in November of your sophomore year by filling out the UC transfer application.

Should I transfer from UC Davis to Stanford?

Much more information is needed to make an intelligent decision. U.C. Davis and Stanford have very different areas of expertise. Stanford is well known for excellent programs involving math, the sciences and "literature."U.C. Davis has a reputation for being one of the best colleges on the planet for various courses of study involving "agriculture".I've never attended either school, but I know people who have attended each, and each person was very favorably impressed with the school they attended.I think before you decide to transfer from U.C. Davis to Stanford you should get more information on the pros and cons of each school, including input from people who have graduated from each, and then decide which school will benefit you the most in the long run.U.C. Berkeley has many students who spend a year or two at other schools and then transfer there. I'm sure Stanford does as well. - - Stew

Transferring from UC Davis to San Jose State (SJSU)??

While a school's reputation with employers is an important consideration, a MORE important consideration is how well a particular school fits you. To use an exaggerated example: What's the use of going to Harvard if you hate it? What's the use of going to Harvard if you dislike it so much that you end up failing? Wouldn't you have been better served by going to a less famous school that was a better fit, and loving it, and acing your classes because of that?

I think you should listen to what your gut is telling you to do. If UC Davis has a slightly better rep, but it's not a good fit for you, and you aren't happy... And if San Jose State is a good school, and you think you'll be happier closer to home... Then transfer.

Most Freshmen do go through this sort of thing in the first month or so of school, but now it's three or four months in. By the end of that first term you should be able to tell if your school is a good fit for you. I think you've spent enough time at UC Davis to know if it's a good fit. And from what you're saying, I don't think it is.

If you go to San Jose State and are happier there, you'll probably do better in your classes and extracurriculars than you'll do at a school which doesn't fit you. When you graduate, your grades and experience will probably be better than they would have been at UC Davis. So even if UC Davis does have a better rep, your strong resume from San Jose State will get you that job.

Can I go to UC Merced and then transfer to UC Davis after 2 years?

You could, but for what purpose? When I was there, a lot of people did that… but then, the school was still brand new and a lot of people had a hard time with it.It’s just better to transfer from a CC to UCD than from UCM unless you have a really compelling reason.
