Transmission Problems Cost

How do I fix my Honda Accord transmission problems?

When it comes to Honda automatic transmissions, when problems occur, replacement is a must. Transmission failure is common in years between 98–2003 in many models. Usually there are rough shifts and eventually second gear goes out as it is the workhorse of the transmission. This is only evident in the automatics. If you love driving Hondas, I suggest learning to drive a stick as that is where the company seems to excell.I have replaced 3 honda transmission. One in my 95 accord, 00 civic, and my brother's 98 accord V6.Vehicles with the V6 or the newer K-Series engines with automatics are succeptible to failure due to the greater amount of horsepower applied compared to the older 4 cylinder models.CarComplaints.com is evidence alone of the problem. Honda eventually provided warranties and rebuilds but the problem persisted. The company still fails to acknowledge that there is an issue. If you have an older Honda, go on Craigslist and find one for a decent price and pay someone to put it in or do it yourself if you have metric tools, a jack, and jackstands. (Honda Service Manuals are online, look on the Honda Tech forums) Have a friend help you and drop the transmission from under the car after unbolting and disconnecting all clips and fluid lines. Dont forget the shift cable as well. You may need to loosen some things at the shifter assembly portion inside your car if confident enough that you can put everything back properly. Take out bolts holding transmission to engine while jack is under it. After it is free from engine lower it and pull away. Reverse to installIf you have a newer Honda, you go to the dealership if you are under warranty and inform them of the problem. If not, try to find another transmission online that is not too expensive and pay a shop to install. Newer vehicles have more sensors than older models and require higher levels of expertise.

How much will a transmission on an 05 vw beetle cost?

You have two transmission choices that can be in their. 09M or an 09G, Both have "valve body" problems. I see these in my shop all the time. Volkswagen will want to change your transmission at the tune of close to $5600. Most transmission shops the same. What you need to do is replace the valve body, and have the computer re flashed. Unfortunately, this is still a $1400 repair. But NO the entire transmission does not need to be rebuilt or replaced. A valve body is the "brain" of the transmission, it has multiple shift valves and electronic solenoids, this is what controls when and how hard it shifts. The shift valves wear the aluminum in the bore that they fit in, and their is no repairing them. Good luck, and be well

How much does a transmission cost for a 2005 chevy z71?

If you have a 2005 Chevy and the tranny is already blown, I would be on the phone with GM. Unless you've abused the transmission, it should theoretically last the life of the vehicle with proper maintenance. I have a 2003 Chevy Silverado that had some steering shaft problems, before and after warranty...at about 75,000 miles, and still having problems, I got on the phone with GM corporate and threatened utilizing my "lemon-law" rights. They quickly agreed to warranty all steering components for as long as I owned the vehicle. If you've EVER taken your truck in for service on a transmission problem, GM will have it in your database. This will show proof that there may have been a pre-existing problem with the transmission. I would really push GM to fix the tranny under warranty....even if you're past the warranty miles....if you're considerably over warranty (like 50,000 miles over) than I would push them for some kind of discount.

GM has been extremely customer service oriented lately in attempts to retain business and work on their reputation as a "quality" car manufacturer. This could help you out.

Just a couple of phone calls might save you $1500 bucks...worth a try!!

How much does it cost to take a transmission apart? ?

well you have to take in all the factors that go with inspecting the internals of the transmission. first their is the time it takes to verify the complaint about the transmission via a test drive or other means. the next step is to remove the transmission from the car which can take anywhere from 1 hours labor on rear wheel drive transmission, up to 3 hours on a complex front wheel drive transmission. next is the tear down of the transmission to look at the internals and inspect them. this can take 1-3 hours of labor depending on the type of transmission and the shop you take it to. the cost will sometimes include the cost to put the trans back in the car if you decide not to have it repaired.

so if you take in all of the factors, and the fact that most shops charge anywhere from 70-100 dollars per hour for diagnostic time and you get
140-600 for just the removal and inspection. take that plus the test drive and the cost for if you decide not to have the trans fixed.

so your looking at anywhere from 350-850 for the work

How much does it cost to get a new transmission for a Volkswagen Rabbit?

I have 2007 Rabbit 2.5 with an automatic tiptronic 6 speed transmission. Unfortunately VW dealerships are major A holes and want me to pay them $800 just to examine the problem to determine if it is in fact the transmission. Which it obviously is, the car will will not shift out of park and it was having problems shifting gears before it finally crapped out. This seems to be a very hard transmission to find anywhere on the internet, and VW kind of has a monopoly over maintenance on their cars, because some specially made tools are involved to even get the transmission pan off. I was told by a mechanic that it may just be the valve body, but VW insists that I pay them $800 just for them to look at it. Which I'm not really okay with, considering that the car is only 6 years old, and this should not have happened, but the 50,000 mile warranty was up a couple years ago. So it would be really great if someone who is either knowledgeable about newer Volkswagens, or someone that works on Volkswagens could shoot me a number. I wish that I had these "special" VW parts and a place to find this transmission, then I'd just do it myself..
