Traveling Jet Blue Can I Bring Both A Back Pack And Nike Duffle Bag Aboard With Me

Can I bring a small duffle bag as my personal item on a plane?

A2AMost American airlines (not American Airlines specifically) differentiate carryons and personal items by whether they can fit under the seat in front of you. A carry-on can go in the overhead, but the expectation is that your personal item goes underneath the seat in front of you. (Assuming you have a seat in front of you, otherwise it should be the same size and it’ll likely end up in the overhead)So, if your duffle bag could go under an airplane seat, it would be a fine personal item. If it couldn’t, and you’re bringing a carry-on, then it’s probably too big.If I do a Google image search for “small duffle bag”, most of them look like they could fit underneath an airplane seat. But, I don’t know what your impression of “small” is for a duffle bag.

What is Jet Blue's policy about bringing a garment bag on board with you?

I'm looking at their latest Contract of Carriage (can't cut and paste) and it says that you're allowed a total of two bags within certain dimensions weighing less than 50 lbs for free. Their only mention of garment bags is that they will count as free baggage (meaning one of your two free bags) as long as they're less then 90" in height. You're also allowed one carry-on item to be stored in the overhead bins, but there's no mention of substituting a garment bag for a carry-on.
