When should I shift gears in a manual trans car?

I know nothing about cars and my dad surprised me with an 08 Civic Si
for my 19th bday
Right now hes teaching me to shift gears based on speed
1st gear - 0 -15
2nd gear - 15 - 25
3rd gear - 25 - 40
4th gear - 40 - 50
5th gear - 50 -70
and 6th - 70 and above
Then there are videos that i have watched where shifting gear is based on the RPM
i should shift gears in between 3000 or 4000?
Can someone clarify this for me?
When should i shift gears?

Is a 33 pound bike too heavy for me even though it has 21 gears?

Ignore the douchebag braggart that already posted... He either has a remarkably lightweight bike and no reasonable sense of modesty or financial point of reference... or he's remarkably full of shlt.

A 33 pound bike is on the heavy side but is no means "too heavy" for anyone. I have three bikes, all quite nice and only one is under 30 lbs. I have a dual-suspension XC bike that comes in at 29.2 lbs, a FR bike that comes in at 39.4 lbs, and a DH bike that tips the scales at 41.6 lbs... I wouldn't call any of them heavy, in fact they're each among the lighest bikes of anyone I regularly ride with. The 29lb bike is full XTR, carbon bars, posts, crossmax slr wheels, tubeless tires, etc... isnt ever gonna get much lighter regardless but it did take some serious coin to get it down that low. Unless you're getting really serious about riding and are ready to start dropping some serious cash on your bikes, 33 lbs is absolutely reasonable and isnt going to hold you back from much of anything.

As for the gears making it easier, they definately do. While most bikes today will have as many as 27 or even 30 gears, as little as 18 is enough to make just about any hill climb-able...

Happy trails!

How does it feel to ride a motorcycle in a one piece leather suit?

When I wore my one piece leather suit for 1st time, it was very uncomfortable. After few laps on motorcyle its sets in perfectly. Make sure you get the correct size else it will become very difficult and uncomfortable. You can control the motorcyle easily without any problems. You can slide both sides easily. In riding gear you will be very safe and surely the leathers will protect your skin. You will be confident to ride the motorcycle. In hotter conditions it will sweat a lot and you have to take shorter sessions and take rest in between, else you will get tired very easily. One important thing you may feel uncomfortable in riding boots intially and possibly miss some gears, once you get used to it, you can manage easily. My photo in my riding gear.
