Trying To Find Out What Breed My Dog Is.

Finding a girl dog to breed my boy with?

Hi. (:
I would like to breed my boy dog. He's a maltipoo and 5 pounds, he's very healthy and my vet says he would have good babies. I am mainly asking where to find a female to mate him with?? Any website that I could find other doggy parents looking to have puppies? Thank you so much!! (:

**DISCLAIMER-- I have already talked to my vet and am following their guidance. I am going to neuter him after he has had a litter of puppies and possibly keep most of the puppies. Please no rude comments about bringing too many dogs into the world. I have a rescue dog and another male who are both spayed and neutered.

Thank you. (:

I have a dog. I'm trying to figure out what breed it is...?

Definitely either a bichon or poodle. It's almost impossible to distinguish which one under all that fur though. The two breeds have slightly different bodies, bichons being a bit stockier. Could always be a mix of the two, where'd you get the dog?

Poodles were originally bred for water sport, and are natural swimmers with webbed feet. I'm not sure about bichons only because of their different origin. They probably do as well.

How can I find a dog's breed without a DNA test?

It's often difficult to guess the breed of a mixed dog without using a DNA test. DNA testing for dog breeds is relatively cheap now and you can easily find a kit on Amazon. The key to getting an accurate report is to reduce sources of contamination when you take the DNA sample (e.g., wear rubber gloves). However, even the DNA tests aren't definitive because it's based on the probability.Nevertheless, the 2nd best way to find out the breed of a dog is to do exactly what you're doing: ask a bunch of other people for their opinions. :)That being said, the dog is really cute! But this one is a hard one... maybe Cavalier King Charles spaniel plus either dachshund or Welsh corgi (both have shorter legs and smaller ears than a spaniel). It's got that cute Cavalier King Charles face. :)

What is the safest breed of dog?

get a mixed breed and just ask who your adopting from that u want one thats good with kids

How can I confirm the breed of my dog?

Kelly, you ask a good question, especially since many people are now supporting dog rescue and getting their dogs from shelters. I had to laugh at a recent study that made the rounds among our dog groups; we were asked to identify the breeds or breed mixes of dogs pictured. It was extremely difficult. The only way to tell the breed of a dog, or tell the breed mix of a dog, is to get a DNA test. The last time I looked, these tests ran from $49 to $99, quite similar to the costs of the ones for humans. I answered your question in reference only to the mixed breeds you may buy from a shelter. Please avoid buying any dog from a puppy mill. And remember that the people who work in shelters often work there because their hearts support these homeless dogs; they may be inaccurate in the identification of the breeds in a given dog. Do the DNA test - it’s fun to see the results. And remember, the dog you have is the same dog before and after the test!

Can a dog and fox breed? What would the mix be called?

I have foxes and ppl often make statement regarding “dog/fox hybrids” the most common phrase is “OMG ITS A DOX!!!...” my facial expression usually consists of an eye roll, a sigh, and a long detailed conversation.Contrary to popular belief and lies spread on the internet by a crazy cryptozoologist (who was caught faking some of his so called hybrid animals) who runs the macroevolution website. Once you browse that website you start seeing the insanity seeping out. He has ridiculous hybrids on there like cow/dog, human/dog, horse/dog, and more.Dogs and foxes, while both are canids, CANNOT interbreed. They don’t even have the same amount of chromosomes.Cats and foxes can’t interbreed because they’re not even in the same class.Members of the dog genus Canis: wolves, dogs (both common dogs and dingoes), coyotes, and golden jackals cannot interbreed with members of the wider dog family: the Canidae, such as South American canids, foxes, African wild dogs, bat-eared foxes or raccoon dog; or, if they could, their offspring would be infertile.Members of the genus Canis species can, however, all interbreed to produce fertile offspring, with two exceptions: the side-striped jackal and black-backed jackal. Although these two theoretically could interbreed with each other to produce fertile offspring, they cannot hybridize successfully with the rest of the genus Canis. The reason for this lies in their genetics. The wolf, dingo, New Guinea Singing Dog, domestic dog, coyote, and golden jackal diverged relatively recently, around three to four million years ago, and all have 78 chromosomes arranged in 39 pairs. This allows them to hybridize freely (barring size or behavioral constraints) and produce fertile offspring. The side-striped jackal and black-backed jackal both have 74 chromosomes. Other members of the Canidae family, which diverged seven to ten million years ago, are less closely related to and cannot hybridize with the wolf-like canids; the red fox has 38 chromosomes, the raccoon dog has 42 chromosomes, the fennec fox has 64 chromosomes, and the African wild dog has 78 chromosomes.I at least have 3-4 people try and tell me their dog is part Fox every week. It’s not hard to read an actual medical journal and understand it. Cats are Felis Catus, dogs are Canis Lupus Familiaris and wolves are Canis Lupus. None can crossbreed with the fox; which are Vulpes Vulpes.
