Trying To Find The Name Of An Author

I'm trying to find a poem called, Nicolina, spelling of her name may be different.?

This was a poem I learned as a child. The first lines were: Oh, tell me little children, have you seen her. The tiny maid from Norway, Nicolina. I don't remember the author.

I''m trying to find out the author of the Poem 'Oh Man forgive Thy Mortal Foe'. Can you, please?

O man, forgive thy mortal foe, Nor ever strike him blow for blow; For all the souls on earth that live, To be forgiven must forgive. Forgive him seventy times and seven; For all the blessed souls in heaven Are both forgivers and forgiven." Alfred, Lord Tennyson

What is the author Avi's real name?

As a fun homework assignment my reading class has to try find out what Avi the authors real name is. She told us we are aloud to use any source we want to try to find out, thank you so much in advance!

How do authors choose last names for characters in their writing?

I've heard of an author who named his characters after his neighbours. He simply took the tenants' list and used it.Using place-names is also helpful. Oscar Wilde and P. G. Wodehouse did that, which is how we got Lady Bracknell, Mrs Allonby, Lord Emsworth, Beach the butler and so on.I'd guess that usually, though, writers simply think of some fitting name. This is what a page of Charles Dickens's manuscript looked like, when he was trying to find a title for his book and a name for his protagonist (kudos to Oxford University Press):

How do I find a book whose author and title I don't know, but can only describe?

Isn't it annoying when that happens?Besides the suggestions given by other responders, I'd like to suggest "What's that book" communities where other readers help to identify books based on your description. There are several I know of, I suggest browsing through them to see which one is most responsive for your genre of book and looks like it will work for you (registration is required for at least the first three):What's the name of that book? on GoodreadsWhat's that book called? on RedditWhat was that book? on LiveJournalWhat's that book? is a whole website devoted to such queries, but I couldn't get it to load past the main page, maybe you'll have better luck!

I'm trying to find a book that I read a little while ago, but I don't know the author!!?

There are a number of books called "Ghost of a Chance" - this one is the closest to the plot you described
"Ghost of a Chance" by Laura Peyton Roberts
http://www.amazon.com/Ghost-Chance-Laura-Peyton-Roberts/dp/0553494988/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1203116320&sr=1-10
"two best friends obsessing over several gorgeous guys--including one ghost--in sunny California. Melissa, 16, addresses readers directly, providing a voice- over to her own life--her parents are going through a divorce, she has an annoying little brother, and her modest home is up for sale--which she considers horrible in comparison to her best friend Chloe's situation--her parents are rich, she has just moved into a mansion, she is irresistible to guys, and she has a ghost living with her. James died in 1939, a gorgeous, perpetual 18-year-old. Melissa's in love with him, he's in love with Chloe, Chloe's in love with many others. Much of the ink spilled in this book covers discussions of who is in love with whom--and if that sounds tedious, it is."

Author's Name or Book Title From These Summaries?!?

I'm trying to find a book I read a few years ago. Mainly just trying to find the author so I can read more of his books. Dont remember the name of the books but I read two books from him and I have a rough book summary of them.

Book 1
There was this girl who is trying to attend this school. They had to stay a few nights at the school. Then had to take a specific test to get in. It turns out that the school is actually "brain washing" kids through their beds. They were monitoring each room kinda like big brother. Only some kids can be "brainwashed" and some are immune. She was immune but she has some guy (who she liked) cheat on her test to help her pass. She gets in and discovers the school is a research facility where they keep the "student" and do varies test. They give the test subjects some shot so they are always in a vegetable state. Do not remember what tests they were. Something with skins? She find the dude she liked become a test subject. She becomes a test subject. Her body starts to adjust to the chemicals they give her and she is able to break out.

Book 2
President's kid is kidnapped (at the pier?) after making the marijuana trade legal. The cartel are pissed off since they would lose so much money and that's the reason they did it. Police try to find the kid. The people who kidnap the kid blackmail the president with a fake toe. Don't remember much else besides the kid being return and I think some police guy go shot.

Anyone read a book similar to this? What website would I go to, to search for book summaries? I have tried google but nothing has come up.

Why do books have authors name bigger than the tittle?

I hate it when I'm trying to find a good book and a whole shelf of books have the authors names printed big and the book tittle is no where to be seen. I try to find one since I can't find a cool sounding tittle I look at the cover art and pick one and read the back to see what it's about and they start off with something roughly like "From the Newyork Times best seller and best seller off the city book list and winners of the publishing awards and the book writing award and awards for best self advertising comes JOHN DOE's newest incarnation of the JOHN DOE series. A highly acomplished author who we will now explane his life story. Blah blah blah blah blah graduated from blah married to blah wrote the JOHN DOE book 'blah' JOHN DOE. Oh yeah the book is about some guy. JOHN DOE JOHN DOE!!!"

The sad part is that's not very far off of most the books now a days. And when you open these self obsessed books the first tenth of the book is about the author explaining his writing process and saying how Awsome he is and at the end of the book there is another tenth saying how Awsome he is.
Why do authors seem to care more about selling their autographs to readers rather than a story.

Who the hell cares about the author anyway. I read Catcher and the Rie and need cared to know about who wrote it. No one wants to know about the real life people who wrote the damn book, in fact they are only reading these egocentric authors books because they know how much reality sucks and a good story is an escape from all that bs. I'd loe to see a book that doesn't have the authors name on it. Or rather have the authors name on the book be a URL for a website that just says "SHUT UP AND READ THE BOOK." enough of books being published just to promote the boring worthless authors when a ghost writer can just as easily replace his sorry hyde.
