Is fixing a computer a hard task?
Greetings, I remember when I was learning computer repair...it was kind of hard seeing that I was learning on my own instead of being in a classroom and learning it right by listening to an instructor. But I learned enough to be able to answer most questions. You are a pilgrim in search for computer technician so best search the books for about six months then you will just about know what you need to know and be able to tell others how to fix their computers. good luck I wish you the best.
I'm trying to play a really old computer game, I guess my computer is too new...How can I fix this?
you'll need a virtual box (virtual PC) on win 98 or something. alternatively get a really old laptop/desktop. they're only like $100 and worth it if you have other just-as-old game you want to play. the main problem isn't do much as meeting system requirements, its you have too much of everything, the game reads it as an impossible error - imagine having a 3 GHz 4-cpu computer w/ 4 GB of ram in 1996! no such technology existed, the programmers probably set any reading about X amount as "error". there's also the issue of 16 bit, 32 bit, 64 bit computers. in the 1990s there were 16 and 32 bit, with 32 bit ht standard. in the 2000s/2010s its 32 bit & 64 bit. this has alot to do with everything. supposedly if you have a 64 bit system you can run 32 and 16 bit no problem. however that is not true in practice. there's really no way around this issue besides to run a virtual box or buy a really old PC. the programs for each bit version is completely different and incompatible. and since 64 bit probably didn't exist when the game came out, it'll probably just claim you are not running windows or a valid win32 operating system. the game cannot determine its operating environment, it cannot run.
Are computer monitors interchangeable?
They are interchangeable...why it freezes up, I'm not sure...but I'm 98% sure it wouldn't be because of the monitor. Tell her to stop downloading porn! It's full of virus' and spyware!
QTInitialize error when I try to play this old game. How do I fix this? HELP?
I'm trying to play a game called "Amazing Animals" which is from the 90's. When I try to actually play it I get "QTInitialize failure" then when I click ahead it comes up and says "The sound software is not installed properly or has been disabled" and tells me to read the "README" file installed with the game when I read it this is what it said "3.3 If Amazing Animals will not run… If Amazing Animals will not run (when it previously ran fine) and displays an error message such as a General Protection Fault when you try to start to the product, this may be due to a corrupt AAUSERS.DBF file. This file is located in the DK Multimedia directory on your hard disc and should be deleted. However, please note that the AAUSERS.DBF file is used to store user information, such as progress collecting stickers for the sticker book, therefore deleting AAUSERS.DBF will mean that this progress information is lost. Amazing Animals requires a sound card to be installed, as all the animations in the product are synchronized to run frame-by-frame with their accompanying soundtrack. If a sound card is not installed Amazing Animals will not run. You should check that your computer has a sound card and drivers installed. You should also check for the presence of WinG drivers in both the Windows and the Windows\system directories. They should only exist in the Windows\system directory. If you find any in the Windows directory you should delete them. I checked for the WinG drivers and they appeared to be there. But I do not know about my sound drivers. A scan I did said they were outdated or missing but I have sound out of my speakers. How could I find the correct drivers for this PC? It's an older Compaq Presario running Windows Vistas Home Basic. I know this is long but could somebody try to help? Big thanks in advanced.
