Tutoring Business Website Platform

What website should I use for my tutoring business?

I am not sure of a tutoring website that offers you an opportunity to advertise your tutoring services for free. Building, maintaining and advertising a tutoring website costs very significant sums of money and as such any tutoring website will charge a commission of some form to cover their costs. One solution would be to create a single web page for your profile information (using a free web design company) and then advertise your services in the following ways;1. Create social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter and a blog.2. Write engaging content related to the subject you tutor and post on your social media accounts regularly.3. Post adverts on forums.4. Place flyers in schools, colleges, universities, local shops.5. Advertise on craigslist, gumtree and other similar sites.6. Use search and social PPC advertising. Search PPC (Google Adwords) can be very expensive but social PPC (Twitter and Facebook ads) can be much cheaper.7. List your profile on free tutor profile listing sites and forums. 8. Create a YouTube chanel and produce and upload a short introduction video explaining who you are and what you tutor. You can then post weekly videos offering advice on the topic you tutor. This can also be posted on your other social media channels.9. Afilliate/referral marketing is a good way to drive students to your profile page. Find a company that regularly deals with the students you might tutor. For example; a student letting agency has lots of students on their books. Offer them a small referral fee for every student they send to you.If you are tutoring online then you will still need a platform to deliver your online lessons. Skype is a good start and is free but there are many other options. Read my blog article on How to become an online tutor - Tuittio for more details. Make sure that all of the above link back to your profile page and have something in place for collecting customer emails (such as Mailchimp or Aweber). If all that seems too much work then maybe re-think your desire to use an agency to advertise your services. The reason they charge a commission is because they do all of the above for you and usually have much bigger marketing budgets.

Is it worth starting a small tutoring business or have online platforms saturated the marketplace with cheap options?

Starting a business involves a lot of work other than doing the tutoring. You will need to recruit clients, schedule appointments, collect and deposit payments, perhaps file taxes as a business—there are a lot of activities beyond simply doing the tutoring. So think about everything that is involved and consider whether you want to do those activities. If you have any doubts, it will be better to take a tutoring job in a company which will handle all those other aspects for you. OTOH, if you enjoy the additional control and the challenge of those activities, then running your tutoring business will be a fantastic learning experience and may be a lot of fun.

How can I find students for my online tutoring business?

Online tutoring is one of the most sought after job especially among the younger generations today. It gives you good earning potential and flexibility that many even take it as a full time job. There are plenty of sites which can help you earn a good source of income and each comes with its own pros and cons. Here are some of them I know listed in alphabetical order.Chegg: They have made a significant mark in online tutoring and pay you $20 per hour for all subjects. The registration process can take upto two weeks and they are very selective. Once you go through the registration process, there are lot of screening processes in the name of quality checks and can be at times daunting. However the pay is decent and is reflected in your account every week. However, they can terminate your account in the name of Honour code any time without giving a chance for explanation(personal experience) .Tutor. com: The registration process here consists of subject exams and mock sessions in your area of expertise. The tutors earn approximately $10-$15 for the sessions.Tutor vista. com: They require tutors who have at least a Masters degree in the subject and a commitment of four hours a day. The application process is slightly tedious. They do not disclose the earning potential however. There are other tutoring sites as well and each one have their own policy of recruitment. Most of them pay around $10–$15 per hour. We have started hiring subject matter experts at $25 per hour for all subjects. Initially the window is open for Statistics, Economics, Mathematics and Computer science. We however encourage applications from subject matter experts in other areas too. The resume may be forwarded to info@shaliqueslearningsolutions.com. You will receive a confirmation email once the application is approved.

Private tutor or Learning Center?

Sylvan and Huntington are the tutoring centers, but Kumon is more like an enrichment program (homework/worksheets-based). Kumon is more focused on establish good study habit. There is no instructional class at Kumon center, but the staff are available if you need help if you have any question regarding the worksheet. Kumon cost is $105-$135/month/subject depending on your contract term and your location. Only math and reading class available at Kumon.

Sylvan and Huntington are very expensive, but you will have a teacher by your side during the class. In my personal opinion, I think Kumon is a good program, but not for everyone. Are you in high school right now? Which class do u need help? If you are in high school, I would recommend tutor.

If it is math class, u can also check out mathnasium website to see if they have a center near you.
