Hard disk may fail in the near future???

"saying that my hard may fail in the near future"

Hard disks have a hardware component (called "S.M.A.R.T.") that records various statistics about their health (operation and failure). You probably want to install some software that shows you this data; e.g.:

http://www.ntfs.com/disk-monitor.htm

(Other people here suggested using "chkdsk" and "virus scans" but these tools don't deal with the hardware itself.)

"asking me to clean up the lens or to change the installation disk"

So try to download and burn the CD again. Perhaps the problem isn't in the CD drive but in the CD itself.

==

"Is this happened bcz of the error from the ubuntu or it's due to other effects???"

It's highly unlikely that it has to do with your trying to install Ununtu. That you suddenly have to deal with two separate hardware problems probably stems from negligence.

(If you conclude that your CD drive is malfunctioning then you'll have to install Ubuntu without using a CD (there are ways). But the hard disk problem seems the more urgent.)

What is the best way to install Ubuntu on Windows 10?

Don’t install Ubuntu as an “Application” inside Windows. It really spoils all the fun.You always use a dual-boot configuration, means you start from DVD/USB-stick and install it from there. Not from the running Windows. Don’t do that. It is fine, if you want to test it, but that’s not a real running Linux system that could stand on its own. If you lose Windows, you will also lose the Linux. And additional to that, I had some problems with that, that I didn’t like on top of that.If you plan to install Ubuntu, just try out Kubuntu | Friendly Computing That’s Kubuntu, the KDE/Plasma variant of Ubuntu. It is based on the Qt5 libraries instead of Gnome and is much more configurable, uses a bit less memory, is faster, swifter, doesn’t have the typical Ubuntu salesware installed and all in all it is just better.It’s looking from the start off a bit more like Windows, but because KDE/Plasma is so highly customizable, you can remove that quickly with a few clicks and make yourself a system from the next generation. Which it is.Plasma is still quite young, but you will love the richness of features and the swiftness of the code, I guess.But really, install it dual-boot or you’ll spoil the experience.

Could I wipe an old hard drive and then install Ubuntu as the only OS on it?

So my laptop's hard drive died yesterday. I was wondering if I could use disk sanitizer to wipe another old hard drive that I have lying around and then install Ubuntu on it? I lost my windows xp recovery/installation CD and I'm not going to buy another one.

Is it possible to use disk sanitizer to wipe an old hard drive clean and then boot from a ubuntu cd/usb? Thanks.
