My neighbors keep calling the police on me and falsely accusing me of criminal acts. I am afraid to go outside of my house. What do I do?
I have a neighbor that is fixated on my husband. She seemed a little off, but once she found out about his time in prison she developed a full blown obsession. She wrote the association board for our community a complaint about him slamming doors and watching her when she was outside. This was nonsense but they still had to address it with us. She wrote subsequent letters to the board stating he has a key to her car, and gains entry to turn on her radio...that he lets air out of her tires...that he's getting in her home and releasing ants...and he's poisoning the food in her refrigerator. We'd see police at her door, but they never stopped by to talk to us. One day last fall, my husband was riding his bike. This neighbor pulled her car in front of him and slammed on her brakes, causing him to fall off his bike. Her behavior was now endangering him so we went to the police to file a report. The police were helpful, and knew our neighbor well. Apparently she'd filed lots of police reports about my husband and a few other men from the neighborhood. The police recognized she has mental health issues and never pursued her later complaints. So what can you do? Try to have your cell phone ready to record if you think your neighbor will confront you. Keep a cool head, there's nothing wrong with not engaging in an argument. Don't be afraid to talk to the police to see what your options are if you're being harassed. You don't want to end up on the wrong side of this problem.UPDATE: my local police department reached out to the neighbour's daughter, the daughter called my husband to apologize and let him know she will be intervening in a medically supervised care program for her mother. She made sure he has her contact info should we have any problems. I give her all the credit in the world, she was wonderful and it's great that she wants to be involved in her care! Here's hoping my neighbor gets back on track.
Is it illegal for my neighbor to walk into my house without permission?
My stupid neighbor seems to think that its fine for her to just walk into my house, without anyone saying she could come in or anything, It annoys me and my whole family. I really need to know if it is illegal for her to do this, because I would love to report her to the cops, because I think that its trespassing. So if anyone has any info about if their is a law against this, or if they can help in anyway, can you tell me?, Please and Thank You. :)
Can my landlord knock on my door without calling me first?
I won't answer my door when I'm at my house alone, but someone's knocked on my door a couple times today. I have no idea who it could be, but think it could be my landlord. Is it legal for my landlord, in Oregon, to come by my place without giving me notice?
Is it against the law for my neighbors to just walk into my house, trespassing?
We are in our 40s and have a band, we have practice on mondays from 6-9, the neighbor to our left called cops over and over and they kept coming saying it wasn't too loud, and told us to blow the roof of the place. so we went around talked to all the neighbors all around us, (except the one that kept calling police) and they all said we don't bother them or they don''t hear it, and we had them all sign a paper that stated so, with their names and adresses. This has been going on for 5 years by the way. well, neighbor on the lest started shooting a bb gun or pellet gun at our house and our cars and my oldest son caught him by walking to his truck to get out a pair of shorts and almost got shot in the eye, this was while we were having band practice one Monday night in april. So we called police and they went next door talked to him and he hasn't called the police on us since. we think they told him to not call anymore or they would give him a citation. Now all of a sudden, tonight, the neighbors on our right, who for 5 years never could here it, came over and claimed they banged on the door for 3 or 4 minutes shen we were into a song by about 1 minute, and walked right into our garage and into our jam room, and told us it was way too loud, they could here bass in there back yard, funny how never heard it for 5 years now all of a sudden they can hear it, and its at the same volume it ALWAYS has been. But they told us we were breaking the law because they could hear the bass, didn't they break the law by walking right into our home or garage but same thing our jam room is our sanctuary!!

Can the police walk into my house without my permission or a warrant?
As a general rule a warrant is needed to enter a home. However, there are exceptions. The most common exception is probable cause with exigent circumstances. An exigent circumstance is a situation where waiting for a warrant would not be practical, Examples that apply to your case would be destruction of evidence or the escape of suspects. There is also an exception under the Plain View Doctrine. If the officer observes illegal activity from the outside, they can enter and secure the home until a warrant is obtained.

When I was really young, I spent almost all of my time with these 2 guys who were brothers. One day, without realising what I was doing, I walked into their home without knocking or anything. They weren't home and only their mother was. She didn't seem to upset, but she did tell me to leave in a hurry. I would always knock/ring the doorbell even if it was my mothers house. It's out of respect for their privacy and common courtesy.
Do you hate it when people come over your house without notice?
It is rude. When I plan my day, it's based on my son's schedule. If someone pops in, it disrupts my day. I was in my room napping because of a medical problem and someone knocked on the door. I had already turned off the ringer on my phone. They actually came to my bedroom window and knocked! They were driving by my house and decided to drop in. Needless to say, I was not happy. I felt like crap and had to go to the door because she decided to come back around. I opened the door and politely told her to please call, and if I don't answer, leave a message. Do not ever knock on my bedroom window again. Then I closed the door and went back to bed. I couldn't go back to sleep. We are no longer friends. She would also show up around dinner time. The first couple of times, I fed her. The third time, I put lids on everything, put the food in the oven and answered the door. She came in looking around for the food. She could smell it, but couldn't see it. Then she showed up again. I did the same thing. I tried being polite, but with her she just couldn't seem to get my boundaries. With some people you have to be firm.
