Underage Knife Possession Laws

What are the laws on knife making for minors?

In my amateur perusals of knife laws, I have NEVER seen a law that explicitly prohibited the sale of knives to minors. Now, I know that virtually every store in the country has a strict policy about it, but that’s apparently a self-adopted rule for liability reasons. And it makes perfect sense. You should have no problems selling your knives. If absolutely necessary, you could just get a parent or any other adult to front for you and be the legal face of the transaction.I’m not a lawyer, though. Just do a search of Indiana’s state laws and read every section that has anything to do with knives. If it doesn’t explicitly state that a minor cannot possess or sell a knife, it’s legal for you to make and sell them.

Is it legal for a 13-year-old to conceal carry or possess a knife in Georgia? The blade is less than 5 inches. I just wanted to know so I don’t get fined and in legal trouble.

Well, I’ve carried a pocket knife since I was 7 years old, 2nd grade. First a Cub Scout knife, then on my 8th birthday I received a Shrade Old Timer that I carried, exclusive of my time in boot camp, until I was in my mid-30s. I did not ever really consider it a weapon, it was a tool i used almost daily for a large variety of tasks. Had I not loaned it out to a co-worker who lost it down a drill hole I would likely still be carrying it. I still carry a pocket knife at all times except when flying commercial air lines. i think a 5 inch knife is a bit large for pocket carry, the knives I carry now are no longer than 3 inch blades. If you leave it in your pocket, and only use it for legitimate purposes like cutting rope and string, opening boxes, stripping wire insulation, carving wood, etc., I don’t think you will have any problems. If you intend to use it as a weapon, I think you will have many, many problems with the law. A knife is useful as a tool, use it as a tool.

If a minor kills someone with a knife in self-defense but possession of a knife is illegal for a minor, what happens next?

A great deal would depend on how they had and carried the knife. If it was a weapon of opportunity that they picked up off the counter, then nothing would happen. If it was a stielleto they carried with them in their boot or other garment then they are going to get a knife charge possibly. However I doubt if they would get a murder charge unless premeditation can be proven.

Do knife carry laws apply to minors in PA?

There doesn’t seem to be any age stipulations. But as others have said… check your LOCAL laws as well !!! As far as the state… Pennsylvania has some of the easiest and most well-written knife laws of any state. They basically allow everything but switchblades, daggers and sword canes.HOWEVER… they have what I like to call the “common sense” clause, which forbids the carrying of a blade intended "for the infliction of serious bodily injury which serves no common lawful purpose."Now this might sound confusing, BUT it was clarified in 1975 in a court case. A man was arrested with a 30 inch machete… walking down the street… at 3:30 in the morning… in a high crime area… in downtown Scranton. The judge basically said, had the man been carrying or wielding this blade in a jungle or other suitable environment, then it would have been fine, but that it was completely unsuitable for an urban setting. So as far as I can see… feel free to strap that Bowie knife on your hip when camping or hunting… but don’t bring it to the mall unless you want a SWAT team response.I’m stuck in the People’s Sozialist Republik of Taxachusetts, where I can’t even drop a Gerber multitool in my pocket without worrying about a “concealed weapons” charge… and I’m licensed to carry a concealed FIREARM. So whenever you hear Democrats talking about “common sense laws”… this is what they’re talking about.

Is it illegal to buy a buterfly knife online?

No it's not. It is not a switchblade. Carrying it is another thing.

How in trouble can i get for getting caught with a pocket knife?

There are no state laws in California generally regulating knife possession by size (except for switchblades) or age. It would be illegal for you to carrying the knife concealed on your person in he locked open position.

However, some knives are restricted in places like public meetings and government buildings, and it would be illegal for you to have a knife on a school ground. There are also some local regulations (city/county), which could be applicable to you, depending upon where you intend to possess this knife.

PS: learn to spell.
