What should I do if I am in long term unemployment?

Before giving up, you must believe that There are jobs out there that suits you. One way I think about this is: stand on the street, take a bus ride or train ride during the rush hour, you see thousands of busy people go to work everyday, there is no way in hell that they have jobs and I shouldn't, there is no way all of these people are better than me. If you give up on yourself, then nobody can help you.Now, knowing there are jobs for you, but you are not getting any. Then the logic dictates that the problem is in your job hunting process. A couple of items I found extremely valuable in job searching I've learned in my short but busy career:Cover letter: I can not stress how important this is. But people often don't pay enough attention, even skips attaching letter!!!! I help screening job applicants myself from time to time. If you see a generic letter like "Dear Sir: I believe I am a good fit for this job blah blah blah". Then it's an easy filter. Except if you have some shining keywords like "Nobel laureate", "Rhodes scholar", "top xxx award", "best employee award" that speak for themselves and can open doors for you, then you really need to work on the letter.   A good letter has to be tailored for specific job.  If a job candidate does not even bother to spend some time to research about the company and the position, then why should we spend the time and effort research about him/her?!  It is good idea to spend half even one day to write a quality CL for a position your really like. Treat it like the most expensive essay you will ever write. -- so expensive that it pays you salary every month and opens new career for you---and that is not a stretch. IMHO getting an interview is the most difficult part.Find help, work with recruiters, work on your resume, use the right searching method, etc. personally I find recruiters being great resources, but not easy to find good ones.

Cambodia is able to achieve 0% employment rate by lies, by unthinking people believing the lies, and by thinking people from the west ignoring those lies because its to their own benefit.Lack of opportunity for work has actually become one of the most exploitable issues for the country, and any mindless reference attempting to confirm that cambodia has achieved a near 0% unemployment is, in my opinion, participating in the exploitation.The harsh reality of widespread near-unemployment. The 0% mask the fact that anyone who works just ONE HOUR per week, is considered employed, this includes teenagers 15 or over who worked for 1h per week in return for a plate of food or shelter. As if this is not bad enough, anyone who works for one hour or more without pay in some kind of family concern that hardly makes enough to sustain itself, is also included in those figures.Although this technique may work very well in developing countries where we have rules and safeguards, it is totally and in my opinion criminally deceptive to be considered as useful or meaningful in a developing country.The technique has long been the international norm for calculating unemployment in developed countries, where it has generated figures reflective of job market health. Yet it has produced numbers far less meaningful for countries in the developing world. People in Cambodia, Indonesia and many other developing countries are not only exploited by their own government, but but also by the west. Irresponsible and thoughtless acceptance of meaningless statistics does not help.

How can corrupt governments cause unemployment?

Corrupt governments are in it for themselves and are solely focused on maintaining power they are not motivated to help their people. So along those lines poverty is a way to control thought and power. For example if a company becomes too big in a corrupt country that government might suppress it so not to have someone able to challenge the current authority. They might divide people along lines like race and ethnicity. That way people fight with themselves instead of focusing on positive economic growth. For example they might spread a lie, person of this race is lazy and terrible worker. If enough people believe it a person of that race will not be employed.Corrupt governments are often very ideological and are not interested in reality or hearing conflicting points of view. If they believe in an economic model that doesn’t fit reality it’ll cause unemployment and could cause a financial crisis. An example of this might be an acceptance of price gouging, people making things more expensive for no reason, but is ignored because someone with connections is making an obscene amount of money. All this is often in tandem with sowing fear and a distrust for institutions. This distrust limits institutions from creating positive change in the country.Mostly unemployment is due to their own greed and denial of reality.
