Disney World or Universal Studios?!?!?

I am planning a family trip to Orlando, Florida for next year. I can't decide between Disney World or Universal Studios. We will have a fairly large group of 20-30 people. In my group of travelers there will be adults and children of varying age ranges. We will have children as young as 7 and as old as 16. We've never been to either of the two parks. Planning this trip is starting to get very overwhelming. I need help from any experienced Orlando travelers out there! Here are a few questions I'd appreciate help with:

1. Which park is better? Disney World or Universal Studios?

2. Is it possible to squeeze both parks into a 5 day stay?

3. How long does it take to see each park?

4. Would you recommend staying at a resort or at a hotel off site? And do you have any recommendations for either choice?

5. What were you favorite rides at either park?

Any info (inside tips, websites, etc.) I can get will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your answers :)

I am going to Universal Studios for one day. What is the best plan?

Do you have the Park to Park Admission on your ticket? Otherwise, you’ll have to choose between Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios. You can easily do the Wizarding World in a couple of hours and have enough time to see other attractionsIf you don’t have Park to Park, you can’t board the Hogwarts Express.I would opt for Islands of Adventure since that’s where Hogwarts is along with Dragon Challenge. The food and store collection carry the same merchandise and you can visit the Three Broomsticks for food.If you do have Park to Park, you can still do it all but you may need to forgo non-Harry Potter attractions.

How much is a one or two day ticket to universal studios orlando?

First of all, I've stayed at Port Orleans and you will LOVE it! If you want more pics of the resort, go to allears.net - they have lots of great property and room shots!

Secondly, I can't tell you how many Brits I've met and talked to while on vacation at Walt Disney World (please note: it is NOT Disneyland)... that place is huge!!! I love that you're getting advice before your big trip!!!!! But I have to ask, have your parents not helped you with your trip planning?

You can buy your tickets to Universal Studios (USO) directly through their website - just carefully read through it so that you purchase exactly what you need (not water park tickets, the all day meal ticket, night events, etc.). Each two day (one park per day) ticket is $115 US (72 pounds). Each two day ticket with park to park access is $135 US (84 pounds). Your choice really depends on your entertainment needs - if you are the type of person who likes watching shows and taking things slowly, then go for the one park per day option. If you want to see and do everything, ride the roller coasters multiple times, and get the most out of your stay, then I would opt for the park to park.

There is public transportation in Orlando, but that's confusing for everyone. It may save you money, but it will take a huge chunk of the time you could be spending having fun. I would advise booking a shuttle van to go to Universal. The shuttle will pick you up at your hotel (French Quarter) and drop off and pick up your party at the same spot at Universal (near the parking by the entrance at City Walk). Mears is the standard shuttle you see all over Orlando, fares run about $60 (38 pounds)round trip; they have information on their website but it's sometimes confusing. I would try calling them (maybe over Skype to save money) so they can give you an estimate on the two day fare and schedule between your hotel and USO. Also know that the USO tickets and transportation (if you choose a taxi over a shuttle) don't have to be pre-purchased; this way, if you change your plans you won't have to deal with trying to get a refund.

The exchange rate is currently $1.00 = 1.589 pounds. If I mucked up the converted estimates, I'm so sorry!!! I haven't had to exchange currency rates in years! Definitely please double check those numbers, and have fun!!!!

Is one day enough for Universal studios Hollywood?

I went last week, I did everything you can possibly do in the park (All rides, all shows, studio tour, lunch); I started right at opening time and finished everything roughly an hour before closing time.

Studio Tour is about an hour long, rides are about 5-10 minutes long, shows are maybe 20-30 minutes long. Time your trip well; go for the newest ride, Transformers, first thing in the morning to avoid long lines. Longest line wait I had was about 20 minutes. (I went on a Monday in June)

Universal City is almost always open after closing time, you have plenty of time for the CityWalk.

How should I spend four days in Universal Studios and Disneyland if I have park hopper tickets for both? I would like to go to two parks each day.

I’ve answered similar in other threads. Don’t try to overload. Pick a park and spend the day there. Don’t waste time on a bus. Immerse yourself in the experience. Even Disney lines are an experience. We have pictures of our middle son at ages 5 and 10 “strapped” to the rocket in the Toy Story Line. He has the same excited smile in both. Engage with cast in the streets, enjoy a meal in a restaurant where you get to eat, relax and still get an experience. If you’ve not already done so, get a My Disney Experience account, get your fast passes and meal reservations. Hell, even waiting in a restaurant lobby has its own experience. Look around you, don’t rush from place to place. You try to do too much and you will be one of those families who are dragging ass and snapping at each other by the time Friday hits.

Will One Day be enough time at universal studios?

Assuming you want to ride all the attractions/see all the shows, one day is fine if you are only going to one park or if you have an express pass for both parks. Otherwise I would do a park per day.

How many people visit Disney World and Universal Studios a day?

Walt Disney World per day in 2017: 122,937This includes guest attendance at only the four theme parks, and not Disney Springs, the water parks, golf courses, et cetera.Universal Studios Florida per day in 2017: 54,101This includes the two theme parks and not the shopping district. The difference between Disneyland Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood is even more in Disney’s favor, at 76,376 and 24,811 respectively.

What's the minimum number of days to spend at Universal Studios, provided you want to properly visit the Island of Adventure and Studios Theme Park?

Two days at minimum, the maximum would really depend on what time of year you're going.  If you are going at peak times, the lines will be longer and you will not be able to experience everything in a day.  I would recommend 4 days total in that case if possible.  Diagon Alley will also be opening on the Studios side this summer, so that will heavily impact the crowds for the rest of the year.
