University Gym Or Somewhere Else

Texas Southern University?

Yes, the school does have fun activities. But, I'm sure you know your not suppose to be going to a certain school because it is fun. If you stay at the Savoy Apartments, they offer a gym and swimming pool. Well since HBCU's get such a bad rap and considering that U.S. News ranked Texas Southern as one of the worst HBCU's, I guess that means their academics are not good. Houston has plenty of things to do, just ask around the campus. You are bound see people acting "ghetto" at TSU what do you expect the school is predominately black! Yes, the area is somewhat "ghetto" not as bad as areas further south of Texas Southern like Sunnyside, South Park etc... Yes, freshmen can have cars. LOL

Live in Sydney or go to Macquire University? Help!?

Hi! So I'm beginning to consider doing my Masters at Macquire University in Sydney, Australia. I've been poking around on gumtree and on the uni's site to figure out what my apartment situation would be (crazy expensive if you want a place by yourself!!!). Anyway, two part question.
1) What area's should I be looking in? I saw from google maps that the Uni is a solid 25 minute drive from the CBD, and I would like to somehow be between it and the Uni. Is there a half decent area I should be focusing on? There are so many places listed in the ads its very confusing. I have 200$AUD a week to spend on rent and I really want my own studio, I don't care how small! Is there an area I should really really stay away from?
2) What's the deal with the public transport?! In every city I've lived in, including Melbourne so this isn't Canada specific, you purchase a ticket and you can pretty much ride subways and trains for about 2 hours. Sydney's system is insanely complicated if your not from the area!! Every trip has a specific price? And its like, 8$ each way?! That doesn't add up. As an international student I don't qualify for the concession rate so if I got a place somewhere between the CBD and Macquire, I would be looking at 140$AUD a month for a transit pass to get to school and work!?! That's like, 70% more than anywhere else. Am I correct on all this?

How do people in university manage to get time to hit the gym (3 times a week!) when I haven't found free time for any activity neither during secondary nor high school?

It's sounds like they have focused on their timeAnd organising the gymWhich they choose as a 3 times a week priorityThey make time for itMaybe in routine or schedulingIt's important so they do itThey give their attention to itThey put a high importance on it which is goodThey take direct actionOn their health :) am more like youIt's putting our attention somewhere elseRecognising this and redirecting our attention to what we want in life and taking action to do it, put it in start today :)

Are University Degrees in Martial Arts legitimate?

You can't learn martial arts by books, video, or college classes. Only training will give martial arts skills. As for college degrees as mentioned from some university offering martial arts degrees, that is academic and is simply a classroom history lesson.

Note: there are many organizations that offer all kinds of bogus martial arts degrees. The Mcdojo boom was first. Then idiots began forming organizations that are nothing but McOrganizations. These organizations will certify anyone as a Soke, Doctor of Martial Arts. Master of Martial Arts, ...etc. Some don;t even require any skill demonstration on the part of the person applying. All required is to send in a resume, and copies of your rank certificates. I know several people that fell victim to these McOrganizations. Another group that has become a big Farce is the "Hall of Fame" organizations. There are more of them than most people realize. Every year since the late 1980's i have gotten offers to be included in some Hall Of Fame. The catch is that they don't care who they give these to. They want you to pay them a big fee to have them then give you your award.

As with anything else worth having, it takes dedication and hard work. Anything that is easy to get is usually not worth having.

Why do people shower in gyms when they can always go home and shower there?

Depends on the situation really. I personally choose not to shower at the gym for a number of reasons:Chance of infection - I’ve caught foot conditions on a few occasions even with flip flops for the showers. Even in regularly cleaned showers there is still a risk as staff don’t deep clean regularly… only at the end of the day.I cycle - I end all of my workouts with a 10 min cycle home afterwards. It’s easier - Less stuff to carry in my bag. I go in my gym gear and my mini towel has a zip pocket for storing my items.I sweat easily - I am one of those who breaks into a sweat just thinking about sweating. I can have a cold shower but end up sweating again as my body temperature climbs.I am flexible with what time I go to the gym depending on what I have planned in the evenings, so if I have plans, I will just gym in the morning before work making sure I have enough time to cycle home, shower and maybe eat (I keep high carb/high protein muesli at work too), and if I have no plans then I will gym after work. This works for me

What do you hate when you’re in the gym?

Ok, there are a lot of things.Aspects of the gym facilities that need improvement:No tissues. Where are the tissues in this place? There should be tissue stations with hand sanitizer nearby. Why isn't this a thing? When I work out, my nose always starts running. Please, gym owners, provide some tissues.Speaking of hand sanitizer, there should be tons of that. People are gross.TVs playing silently without captions. There is literally no point in watching a show without words. It's so boring. It would be awesome if gyms had wifi. There should be a water bottle fill-up beside the water fountain.Complaints about gym-goers:I'm pregnant and I get some weird looks at the gym. Ok, I get it, it's interesting to see a girl with a huge belly doing an intense workout. But seriously, I just want to be left in peace. Just today, I had an older guy interrupt my workout to ask, “How is the baby handling that?” So rude. Please just leave people alone, try not to stare, and mind your own business.I hate these stupid shirts:If your shirt is so ripped to shreds, it would be better to not wear a shirt at all. It's pointless. It's stupid. It annoys me.The gym isn't a place to pick up chicks. I don't come here for your viewing pleasure. Get a tinder account or something, don't harass the women who are just trying to stay fit.January at the gym is the worst. Tons of people join or start coming who weren't coming all year long. First of all, I'm really happy for these people and their goals. I'm just not happy that I can't find a single open machine or free space.
