Water just disturbed by displacement from earthquakes would not get much above 33 feet, however, if there is significant underwater (or above water) shifts in material - a slumping sea mount, or an island that loses a chunk of material, they can get quite high - the 1964 earthquake in Alaska had a wave that washed up over 800 feet when a slump wave was focused through a channel... The answer above is absolutely not true. Placement of chest leads alone does not affect the height of the QRS much. It does affect your view of the heart (whether your are looking at the front right, front left, inferior, or whatnot) which may affect form, especially in the presence of ischemia (developing heart attack) but NOT likely the height of the QRS. It also depends on which lead your are seeing the high spike in. In the precordial leads (V1-V6) if the QRS is deep in V1-V3 and spiked high in V5 or V6, it could mean ventricular hypertrophy, which means your heart muscle has grown bigger in response to an increased need for more force to push blood through the body. People can live like this and not have a problem, or it can be serious, it all depends. It could also mean pericarditis, an infection of the heart, or a bleb; a sort of hernia-like protrusion on the heart. Of course, it all depends on what setting you are reading this EKG. In an ambulance, in an ER, on a hospital med-surg floor or in a cardiologist's office - all these places will have different opinions and will treat it (or not treat it) differently or not at all. Most likely, if it's not extremely high (more than 18 little boxes, for a general guideline, in V5 or V6, or correspondingly deep in V1-V3, it's just a normal anomaly. :) don't panic! lol

This is perhaps the word you were looking for but, technically, it is not a tidal wave because it has nothing to do with the tide (the gravitational effect of both the sun and the moon) but with a seismic phenomenon. Tides can and are predicted. Tsunami are not. In some places of the world, you can expericen a "tidal wave" especially in an estuary. As the tide rises, it can meet the outflow of the river. That can create a real wave that rises up the river, growing bigger. I know that, somewhere in China, it happens and it is even a tourist attraction to see the wave going up the river. But then, it is tidal, i.e. it happens twice daily, unlike a tsunami that happens only after an earthquake.

Definitely let them know you will be waiting for them when it’s finished and the nurse says it’s ok to see them. Let them know there’s a whole team that’s highly trained that will be caring for them. If it’s a complex procedure usually it’s the same team usually in spines, cardiac, total joints or other large procedures.Ask them how you can help maybe it’s driving them home afterwards or looking after their pets if they’ll be a few days in the hospital. Offer to pick up a few things at the grocery store or take them shopping prior to surgery. The day or two before so they’ve got soup and tea etc whatever is easy for them to eat and keep down. They’ll feel sick from anesthesia afterwards while their body gets rid of the general anesthesia as it wears off.Be optimistic and reassuring whatever the reason they’re having surgery it’s likely not elective and they’ll be better off after they get through the operation and recovery. They’ll likely feel much better as a result. Sometimes right away sometimes shortly afterwards.
