Upgrading My Graphics Card

Upgrading my graphics card?

I have a Gateway E-4500D ( http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/gateway-e-4500d/4505-3118_7-31546645.html ). I want to update it's graphics card because the one it has in it is not that good. I did upgrade the RAM to 2GB. Do you guys have any suggestions for a video card? I know the system is pretty old so I might need to replace my motherboard and the power supply. Tell me if I need a new part for the video card that you suggested. I don't need a heavy duty one, but just one to make games look a little bit better. Thanks! : D

Looking to upgrade my Graphics Card?

Crysis is a very graphics heavy program and requires a lot of power. Luckily you've chosen a quad-core processor which has been shown to be better than the dual-cores for gaming. First you'll have to see if your computer has a high enough watt PSU I would recommend at least a 700 watter, although I like 900 watt +. Also make sure to check what kind of slots you have in your computer. I would assume you have a PCI-express slot. Although you may have an SLI compatible motherboard. If this is so I would go with 2 Nvidia 8800 GTs with 512mb of RAM each or 2 Nvidia GTXs with the 768mb of ram each. Either of these options will run crysis the GTX at better qualities however. If you only have one PCI-e slot I would say that the GTX is your best shot. However don't always expect the BEST quality but it will still be pretty.

Upgrade for my graphics card?

Hi paddy,

The other guy is indeed correct, its better if you build a new budget PC that can give you better performance in gaming compared to just upgrading your old PC.

I would like to ask do you know how to build one or has a friend that could build it for you?

How much are you willing if ever to spend for a new computer? I need to know your budget so that I could come up with a build that is well suited for you.

How do i upgrade my graphics card i have 64mb?

simple
1 find out if video card is in AGP or pci slot. You can tell this by going to right click on my computer hit manage then device manager than display adapter. Look at location. It will say either pci pciexpress or agp.

2. Buy a video card of your choice. Make sure operating system power supply processor are all compatible with the video card.

3. Take the card out of the slot you may need a screw driver. Then slide the other card into the slot screw it in install the drivers on the cd or go to the manufacturers website to get the drivers. Then just make sure your computer detected it and your all set.

Good Luck It really is a very simple process or you can always take the computer to a store and they can install it for you. Try not to buy from places like best buy their prices are generally much higher than places like www.tigerdirect.com.

Updrading my graphics card? Help!?

Well, you have all the information you need righ there. The card you have right now is junk. So, you do have a PCIe slot and your choices are limitless. However, I recommend either the Geforce 7600GS or 7600GT for now... That being said, DirectX 10 cards are due out in September from nVidia and in November from ATi. So, if you want support for DirectX 10 then I think it is best you wait until then to get a new card. But if you have a game you need to play now get a 7600GS but now that you will still have to get a new card later this year to support DirectX 10. Current cards only support up to DirectX 9. It's probably the worst time to upgrade unless you NEED to.

So should I upgrade my 1060 graphics card and get a 1070 instead?

Okay so right now I have a EVGA GTX 1060 3GB and I wanna get a EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB because recently, I noticed some of my games are taking a bit to load the textures, and it seems in some of my games my framerate drops, mainly notice this in BO4 and I noticed it says im using more than the recommended VRAM usage, but I notice framerate drops in other games also, and im honestly not too into graphics to where im waiting for the new graphics cards coming out, im still very new to PC and I bought a cheaper card when I built my PC a few months ago, and I just wanna make a slight upgrade, and make my games look a little nicer, and so I don't have to turn down my graphics settings slightly to avoid any framerate drops, I like a good middle ground of looking alright, and running smoothly, I looked at the 1080s, and theyre around $600-$700 for the EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB which is like $200 more than the 1070 I can get, now is there a big enough difference in the 1070 and 1080 to pay the $200? Like I said, I don't care too much for the graphics aspect of my PC games, I play console also, but I do kinda wanna make an upgrade, for a noticeable change in my games graphics/performance, and I would assume the 1070 is a decent middle ground between the two? Just asking for some opinions. Also how do I go about installing my new GPU? like im assuming I just have to open up my PC and install the new one then start it back up? and how should I store my old GPU? Please and thankyou!

Should I upgrade my graphics card? My graphics card is a Radeon R7 M360 at DDR3.

Your Radeon R7 M360 with DDR3 is a mobile device graphics adapter, I imagine you have a laptop. While this GPU is a low-end on par with GT740M I am not sure you can replace it, because it depends on the laptop/device maker and the way they implemented the GPU.However, if you are a desktop PC user, with this GPU, then by all means upgrade it if you can afford an upgrade. Radeon RX550 or the better RX560 would be a substantial upgrade for your system. An upgrade will enable higher visual settings for games, and make the experience more enjoyable.

Can I upgrade my laptop graphics card?

By Nature of Laptop Manufacturing,If it says Integrated Graphics Card then it is embedded or rather Soldered into the motherboard by dafault by the manufacturer so it can not be in any case upgraded as you would require to replace whole motherboard with CPU for chinging or upgrading the GPUBut on paper, Dedicated Graphics Card is exact opposite of Integrated ones and they can be replaced by user of the laptop if requiredBut its not as easy as it seems as many laptop manufacturers dont want you to change their own configuration for whatsoever purposes hence they keep it locked under the hood away from your simple ram and hdd or ssd slots so that to replace you need to go to the company itself or open it up yourselfOther thing is that to replace the card you require a special configuration of slots to achieve proper connection between the card and the motherboardHence it all depends on weather your manufacturers let you openly swift out and in other upgraded cards or notFor Example, I had a HP laptop in 2012 where in i had a dedicated Nvidia GPU but to change it i had to open the whole back and detach my keyboard to reach the GPU and i could have done that but that amount of tidius process i had to undergo to change it made me keep it the sameBut Alienwares and Asus and MSI, make it very easy to open a small cover slot from beneath and change it in few easy stepsSo google your model to Find out how easy it is and do check youtube if anyone has done it already ( it makes it damn easy)Hope it Helps

Should I upgrade my CPU or graphics card first?

I'm planning on upgrading my system in december but I only have enough money to upgrade one component. The only 2 things I want to upgrade are my CPU and graphics card.

CPU: Core 2 Duo 4400 @ 2.00 GHz
Graphics: Nvidia 8800GTS 320mb

I'm a big gamer so i'm inclined towards buying a new graphics card but I know my CPU isn' that great either. I really need some good advice. Thanx in advance!
