UPS: What does destination scan mean?
Every time they touch your package and move it from one vehicle to another, they scan it. The current destination scan is where it was last scanned. If you check your tracking number, it will show out for delivery when the driver is going to deliver it to you

It differs from a similar arrival scan, in that a package might have many arrival scans as it completes steps along it’s journey from source to target, but typically will only have one destination scan, unless there are problems with delivery.
If my UPS package got a destination scan at 2:56 pm and they deliver until 8:00 pm, when can I expect it to arrive?
Not today. A package that arrives at the station that late in the day will be delivered the next business day (so if it a Friday then it goes out for delivery Monday).However since you know it is at the local station you could go pick it up yourself if you were so motivated, remember to bring ID and the tracking number.

I was checking ups to see on my package and it said destination scan and the scheduled delivery date is Monday and i need my package before Sunday so if it says destination scan is it likely it will get delivered today? PS its already nearby at the UPS place

It shipped within the first 5 hours of purchase and by the next day it was already in my state. So today (day 3 after ordering) I wake up and check my progress. The tracker said 7:10 Arrived at Thornburg, PA "Destination Scan." Thornburg PA is about 30-40 minutes from where I live so I was wondering if this meant it was out for delivery or what...Any ideas? Scan to delivery depends on how far it has to go. And once it arrives at its destination depot, can be delivered same day or next day, usually not longer. But if tracking shows delivery today, you're probably good.

Destination scan means it has arrived. When UPS or FEDEX ships an item they just scan the little barcode when it's dropped off to the proper address and they type in a number saying it's reached it's destination. They received the package. - I ship items All the time.
