Ups Then Elisting In Military

Can you enlist someone else in the military?

My girlfriends aunt (Who is a Captain in the United States Military) is saying she is going to enlist her in the military. I personally think that's bullshit because I'm pretty sure you can't enlist someone else, family or not. Confirm this, please. She's currently fifteen (I'm sixteen, if it matters, which I seriously doubt.) if that also matters. I couldn't handle being away from her, just, couldn't.

How do minors sign up for the military?

I am not real sure of how the military (any branch) conducts their recruiting and/or sign-ups for high school students, other than when they get your child's phone number they don't know the word no, but... one specific scenario has occured with my middle son's classmate, so explain this: She, at 16 1/2 signed up with a military branch when the recruiter came to school. She apparently gets a larger sign up bonus the further away from 18 she is. So, she is a totally flighty little gal and what if she now doesn't do whatever they want her to at 18, or doesn't show up where ever they have her scheduled to after high school graduation? I guess I am mainly asking how does a minor (16 years old) sign what seems to be a binding contract, when I thought you had to be 18 to sign any type of binding contract? Does the military fall under some kind of exemption? I also am not real sure kids should be allowed to sign up. If you are actually 18, that's another story.

When reviewing medical history for military enlistment, do chiropractic visits show up in that history as well?

was looking to enlist into the military but since then Ive gone to a chiropractor to help treat some lower back pain and had an x-ray which turned up negative, just casual pain and adjustments fixed the issue.. that and strengthening my back muscles from working out. I know in the medical field many people don't consider the practice of chiropractics actual treatment. Is the military capable of seeing any record of chiropractic visits and treatments?

Can officers rank up just as quick as enlisted in the military?

Not at first and not in general. In my experience with the US Air Force, officers start out at O-1 (2nd Lieutenant Army, Air Force, Marines / Ensign in the Navy). O-2 Comes at 2 years, basically automatic on the calendar, if you don’t make that you either screwed up big time or you’re no longer in the military. At 4 years of service, 0–3 is almost 100% automatic as well (Not sure if this is the case in services beyond US Air Force). Then you are a Captain “forever” until around the 10 year point. Major, 0–4, generally happens between 10–11 years. The USAF promotion rate was around 85–90%, of eligible Captains. You have to realize that there are quite a few that don’t stay in after the initial commitment.Back to the original question, Officers take a lot longer to ‘rank up’ but the pay is also much higher. After E-4 the enlisted promotion percentages drop down. The enlisted corps also has to test into their next rank. So the speed of pinning on new ranks sort of evens out. There’s really not much of a similarity between the two promotion systems, though.

Can I be written up at work for enlisting in the Army?

Did you inform them in advance that you wouldn't be at work? If so, then you are covered. But if not, shame on you. Proving it after the fact is not helpful.

If you let them know that you would be away for two days for enlisting in the military, then you would have recourse under USERRA.

Here's an overview of the USERRA:

"The Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA, 38 U.S.C. §§ 4301 – 4335) is a federal law intended to ensure that persons who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, Reserves, National Guard or other “uniformed services:” (1) are not disadvantaged in their civilian careers because of their service; (2) are promptly reemployed in their civilian jobs upon their return from duty; and (3) are not discriminated against in employment based on past, present, or future military service. The federal government is to be a “model employer” under USERRA. See 38 U.S.C. § 4301."

Do traffic tickets show up when the military check your record for enlistment are just warrants?

The person above me clearly is a retard and clearly wasn't in the military.

Yes, they will check for traffic tickets, and yes you have to document them. If you got 5 tickets and report 4, it's really not a big deal, I don't remember when and where I got every ticket either. But if you have 4 speeding tickets and put on the forms you don't have any, then that might be a problem.

They made me document any fines that i had greater than $150, and just tell them about the others briefly.
