Urgent Help Needed I Have A Friend Online Who Has A Set Date To Commit Suicide.

I tried to commit suicide and now I have a $386,000 hospital bill, what can I do?

I tried to commit suicide in November of 2010. I slit my wrists in the bathtub and I also took a sharpie and wrote "DO NOT RESUSCITATE" on my chest and on my arms just in case I was still alive by the time someone found me so the doctors in the ER would NOT try to save me.

Anyway, I spent two weeks in the ICU, but after I physically recovered from the suicide attempt, they would NOT let me go home. I was placed on a 2 week involuntary psychiatric hold in the hospital's psychiatric ward. In total, I spent 4 weeks in the hospital and now have a ridiculous bill!

I am a college student with no insurance and no job! How am I supposed to afford that?!!!
I keep getting my bill in the mail from the hospital, and the last letter I received last week also contained a letter than said if I do not pay the hospital in FULL within the next 30 days my information will be sent to the collection bureau.

What am I supposed to do??? I don't want the collection bureau to start harassing me. I've heard of people having their personal belongings taken away when they were unable to pay off severe debt.

Anyway, I called the hospital and I told them they have no right to bill me because I did not give consent to be treated. They offered me a service that I did NOT want or ask for. I clearly wrote DNR on my body for the doctors to see and they did NOT respect my wishes. I attempted suicide so I OBVIOUSLY didn't want to be saved, so why should I pay for a service that I did not want?
Is it possible that I can sue the hospital for this?

In Indonesia, where can a suicidal person find help?

Call HOTLINE 500–454. This hotline is provided by the Mental Health Directory of the Health Ministry. A trained counselor will answer the call. The caller can express their thoughts and feelings freely and the counselor will listen and help. If the caller’s trouble is beyond their ability to give advice/help, the counselor will give advice for the caller to seek help to the nearest Mental Hospital. Hope this helps.

What advice would you give a person who is convinced to commit suicide?

“Tell me more.”Then I sit and listen. And based on what they tell me, I might say any number of things:I’m sorry. That’s a totally shitty way to feel.Would you like a hug?Are you seeing a therapist or anything right now?Have you been taking your medication? You said you didn’t have the energy to go to your appointments. Would it help if I popped by in the morning and drove you? We could get Starbucks afterward!I can’t promise you that I’ll keep this just between us. I can promise you that the only people I’ll tell are mental health professionals who will help you get better.I’m worried you won’t be safe if I leave you alone. Would you be willing to go to a crisis center so we can get you some help?I think we should go to the ER and have someone make sure you’ll be okay. How does that sound?Things I wouldn’t say include:These problems are temporary. Trust me!I used to feel that way, too. Just hang in there, champ. You can’t kill yourself! Life is precious!Suicide doesn’t get rid of the pain. It just gives it to someone else. You just need to get out more. You shouldn’t think like that.Suicide is selfish. You’d never do something like that to me.The meaning of life is to do what you love! So just do that! The most important part is to make sure they’re safe.Doesn’t matter why they’re suicidal — if they’re having those thoughts (especially if they’re acting on them in any way), then not leaving them alone and connecting with professional help are the biggest priorities.A suicidal person doesn’t need your advice. They need your support. Telling them that life is precious and that they have so much to live for will more than likely make them feel worse, not better. The best thing you can do is listen. And after you listen, help them get the help they need.

So I’ve been dating someone for a couple days and I’m just not feeling it. He is a suicidal person. How do I break it without him killing himself?

If it’s been only a few days and he’s already using the “Suicide threat”? Run away!!I’ve been played before by a coworker, who made our entire work group babysit her personally, outside-of-work, for years…only to have her confess years later, it was all a lie. She put us all through hell, just for attention.Print him out the Suicide Hotline phone numbers listed below, and tell him you need to back out of this relationship. He owes it to himself, his family and YOU to work on himself FIRST, and get himself into a stable mental state BEFORE dragging a random stranger (You) into this mess. You are not a qualified therapist, and cannot fix him.If he is serious about suicide, then the last thing he needs is a RELATIONSHIP. No counselor is EVER going to recommend a Suicidal person run out and find a brand new relationship. Never!!

How does a transgender get a girlfriend?

I'm a 16 year old MtF transgender. I still like girls, but I have trouble actually getting a girlfriend.

Any help?

And don't say "be yourself" because I know that if som girl wants to date me, they won't be a lesbian.

Can I Tell my school counselor about my depression, or no? help please.?

You really do have a lot going on especially as a student who is in middle school. Having to help people with a handicap may be very stressful even for an adult much less a teen. That should be so much on your shoulders, but you're a wonderful person for helping out. It would definitely be appropriate to talk to your guidance counselor. Please do so on the next school day.

You'd mentioned that you take medication though I'm not sure if you're monitored by a psychiatrist or not. Parents need to get their kids counseling, too, if they are having feelings of depression or wanting to do the unthinkable such as commit suicide. Please talk to your school counselor about your parents not really believing in counseling, and perhaps he or she can talk to them about it. I think that some parents don't actually realize that one's mental health is as important if not more than one's physical health.
