Urgent Indigestion Of Vegetables With Diarrhea

What could be the cause of diarrhea after waking up every day?

For the past few months I have been getting diarrhea in the morning after waking up, or sever stomach pain. I am a guy, so I am obviously not pregnant. It doesn't matter if I sleep at night or nap during the day: when I wake up, it is still the same. Also, what I eat before I fall asleep doesn't affect it, because I have made a dietary log, and found no similarities in my diet. In fact, even when I don't eat, I still get it when I wake up.
It probably happens 4-5 times a week, and like I said, has been happening for about 6 months now.

I have diarrhea often only when I eat Asian food. I'm fine with European food. Why is it? I'm a Japanese person.

Where are you eating it, and what kind of restaurant is it? If I dine at a high quality Asian restaurant, I'm fine. If I go to an all-u-can eat buffet, I have about a half hour window to go spend some quality time on the ol' thunder bucket. In many buffet houses and low price Asian eateries where they use lower quality ingredients, they have a tendency to use an enormous amount of MSG (monosodium glutamate), a flavor enhancer.“MSG is a food additive that’s used to improve the taste of food. MSG has become an important additive for the food industry because it often allows the use of lower quality or less fresh ingredients without compromising reported flavor. MSG is similar to glutamate, a substance that’s found naturally in almost all foods. MSG is produced by the fermentation of molasses, starch, or sugar cane. This fermentation process is similar to process used to make wine and yogurt. The FDA categorizes MSG as a food additive that’s generally recognized as safe (GRAS). The FDA also categorizes salt and sugar as GRAS.”While studies haven't really shown a definitive link, and MSG is present in smaller quantities in many foods, larger amounts can cause a short term sensitivity, resulting in ‘Chinese Food Syndrome", as it's known. MSG sensitivities can cause moderate to very serious reactions requiring immediate medical treatment. However, for most of us it requires a spontaneous and gratifying restroom visit. What may “enhance” the digestive system bubbling affects of MSG can be caffeinated drinks, like tea or soda. Drinking water can help flush the MSG out of your system.

A friend of mine claims that a half hour after eating lettuce, she gets diarrhea and it has chunks of lettuce. I've read that the quickest a food can get through the digestive tract is 6-8 hours. Is her claim possible? And if so, how does it work through her system so fast?

Thats , a good observation. But when your friend tells you about letuce in her stool she is absolutely right.Meanwhile , you are wrong neither. You are correct when you say 6-7 is the normal time required for food to completly digest .But ,Diarrhea is not a 'normal' situation for the body , infact it is an -expusive defence mechanism of the body. Patients report diarrhea when their own normal pattern of bowel movements is altered & in cases (as in malabsorption) it increases considerably. So to put it simply , in diarrhea your body wants to get rid of the malabsorbed or infected food as quickly as possible , therefore we see an increase in bowel movement & it is quite possible for this time to reduce to half an hour..allowing your friend to 'view lettuce' in stool with in half an hour !Now ,just for sake of information - Diarrhea is classified into five broad categories related to their pathophysiology:1.Osmotic diarrhea2.Malabsorption /maldigestion/fatty diarrhea (steatorrhea)3.Inflammatory diarrhea4.Secretory diarrhea5.Altered motility.Read more about it :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dia...

Is it advisable to have salad with drinks?

Absolutely not. Cold drinks and even cold water should be taken at the same time. The reason is raw vegetables or salads can simply be hard to digest. And since cold drinks are acidic in nature, the result will be immediate indigestion, thus can cause diarrhea also. So strictly no.
