Urgent Plz Oscar Eyes Gets Foggy

My dog scratched me but there was no blood. Can I still catch rabies?

There are a few more details I'll need for a concise answer, but I'll try to cover all if(s)/but(s) that I can think of.The first question is - Did the scratch break your skin?Infections can occur if the skin is broken and bacteria from the saliva of the dog that has bitten you, is passed into your bloodstream. Sometimes there might be no bleeding, so you need to make sure the skin is not broken. I'm assuming that your skin was not broken. Is your dog vaccinated against rabies?Yes - You need not worry for rabies. Wash the scratch with an antiseptic and don't cover it. You might need a tetanus booster injection if the last shot was more than a year ago.No -Scratch received through claws - Chances of rabies are less, but not entirely ruled out (the dog might have licked his paws). As no skin was broken, you need not worry. Wash the scratch with an antiseptic and don't cover it. You might need a tetanus booster injection if the last shot was more than a year ago.Scratch received through teeth - As no skin was broken, you need not worry. Wash the scratch with an antiseptic and don't cover it. You might need a tetanus booster injection if the last shot was more than a year ago.Skin broken - Ritwik Joshi's answer to How effective is anti rabies vaccination in dogs? Most importantly, get a professional second opinion. I am no doctor so this is not a professional medical advice. Do consult a doctor whatever be the case.Hope this helps. Stay healthy.

Whats going on with my oscar??URGENT PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!?

Good grief, whatever you do, DO NOT USE SOAP. Holy cow, people are clueless.
I'd do a water change right away also. I'm kind of thinking that it could be skin & gill flukes.....this can cause "cloudy" skin due to excess mucus, which is what you could be seeing, mucus. It it looks like snot (which could be what you mean by spit), there is a good chance of this. I could not say for sure without seeing, but it's a pretty good bet.
From what I understand, these are pretty hard to completely irradicate, but you can treat with Praziquantel, formalin and/or malachite green. Please if you treat with this medication, be sure to follow the directions perfectly. Also be sure to take the carbon out of your filter or it will absorb the medication. I would also suggest that you do some research on your own about skin/gill flukes and then make your decision whether to treat for it or not.
As I said, I am relatively comfortable in my thinking that it is this. It's one of the only things that I know can cause the slimy looking stuff. And you cannot see these without doing a scraping and looking at it under a microscope.
I hope this can help point you in the right direction. Best of luck to you. ;o)

Help! Sick Oscar! (fin rot?)?

While melafix will help you with the fin rot, one big issue here that is not tended to by any answer so far, is that cloudy eye.

This site is a great site to help determine a treatment for cloudy eye. I used this site personally for a sick Taiwan Reef cichlid I had, and my Arowana awhile ago.

If that site doesn't seem to work out,

This is more all around

Melafix seems to be a good option, however, another key point to this. The cause being from water quality, and not a disease or parasite, you can opt for no medications, and let me explain to you why.

Unless you are going to isolate that Oscar and treat him in a hospital tank, you are using an antibiotic medication. You are going to wipe out your biological filtration doing so. You're better off if you elect for Melafix to isolate the Oscar. However if you elect not to use Melafix, as your water quality improves, you should in turn see his fins slowly regenerate as well.

I had an Arowana completely lose it's tail one time as it was improperly kept by it's previous owner. I used Maracyn 2 and Pimafix, and he regenerated that tail in about 2 weeks. I strongly urge you to consider a hospital tank if you want to use meds, or if you want more natural, just keep the water quality perfect.

Oscars aren't such pigs as many people think, they are just advantageous eaters is all. A side effect of that however, is they generate large amounts of waste. When keeping Oscars, you will want to have much larger then normal filtration to compensate for that. email me as needed.

White film covering freshwater fish's eye?

I noticed yesterday that one of my cichlid had a white film covered over her eye. We ended up buying her some medication (Mardel Tetracycline), and I did a search this morning on the internet and found that she may have "eye cloud" - has anyone had a similar problem with their freshwater fish (is it really eye cloud)? If so, did it heal quickly or is there other type of medication that may be better for her?

Why do fishes in aquarium die suddenly, what could be the reasons?

I find that a fish dying suddenly is a very rare occurrence. They will almost always show signs of illness before they die, at least that has been my experience, and I have dealt with many dead fish at my job.The problem is that most people, and even a number of hobbyists who lack an eye for detail, are unlikely to notice many of the signs of illness in fish. The main cause of truly sudden death is shock. This is generally caused by rapid fluctuation in water temperature, or other water conditions such as the ph. This is often due to introducing fish to a tank without proper acclimation, which is dependant on the sensitivity of the fish. Some diseases can kill very quickly, like certain strains of Columnaris. Although I still wouldn’t call this ‘sudden’ death. Likewise with other things that can kill quickly, such as insufficient oxygen level in the water, one would still notice the fish acting in a sickly manner before they die (unless one is ignoring the fish for days at a time).I would like to reiterate, because the way that this question is worded bothers me (if the asker is not a native speaker then it is ok!), fish do not die for no reason, and usually their deaths are not sudden. A better wording of this question would be “Why do fish sometimes die suddenly?” or “What could cause a fish to die suddenly?”.Now I do not mean to imply that it is always the owners fault if a fish dies. Fish are rather delicate animals and there are a lot of things that can potentially kill a fish. However when I find people saying that they had fish die “for no reason”, it is usually because they are not keeping them in appropriate conditions.

What shark would be 'better' to add to my 100gal?

I prefer the rainbow or ruby shark due to the red on all the fins. Although the red-tailed is supposed to be blacker, my rainbow's body looks black enough. With his vivid red fins, the color combination looks stunning. If your fish are happy & feeding well, I think their coloration becomes richer looking.

Basically whichever fish you choose, don't have any similar looking fish. For example my rainbow chases my Siamese algae eaters, probably due to the similar torpedo shape, but no harm done. And it depends on his mood, sometimes he doesn't bother anyone but on his grouchy days he might even dart at smaller fish like barbs & rasboras. But he won't waste energy chasing fish all around the tank, just warning them to get out of his way in the immediate vicinity. And since he mainly sticks around the tank bottom, there's no issue with top & mid-water swimmers. And he doesn't bother my various loaches & corys. One benefit of these sharks is they'll graze on hair algae.

It'll help if your tank is heavily planted and has hiding places for him to mark out territory, this reduces the chance of the shark taking the whole tank for himself. He'll be very happy in a fine big planted tank, just mooching around & exploring by himself and hence less inclined to be aggressive.

There's not much to choose between the 2 sharks, with pretty similar requirements & behavior. Both come from Thailand, though different locations. The rainbow likes some kind of cave to retreat to and doesn't really like strong tank lighting (you can have floating plants to help diffuse light). Though I've read that the rainbow is a bit more tolerant of its own kind, but still safer to only keep one per tank.

I suffer from obsessive thoughts. I constantly relive and examine past social interactions. I end up feeling extremely embarrassed about the situation my mind fixates on. How can I stop this?
