Us Vs German Technology

How was Nazi Germany able to technologically surpass the Allies in so many ways?

Good question. Of course the underlying assumption is a bit shaky. The German armed forces had fought a number of smaller campaigns prior to 1939 which led to their strength in the Blitzkreig techniques. Further, their development of air bombing of civilian targets as refined and developed in their active support of Franco in the Spanish Civil War, particularly over  Tarragona means they started the war with a significant advantage in training, knowledge and experience.Once you begin to unwrap the suggestion of some sort of technological superiority the whole thing begins to unravel and by the end of the war their certainty of absolute technological superiority was unmasked for the propaganda it was.Russian tanks were far superior. British aircraft were in a completely different league in every department. British code breaking left the Germans flat footed because they could not countenance their system leaked and was inferior. Their rocketry was a blessing for the Allies because it was a complete waste of money. They had no concept of Naval Air Power and that cost them their hugely expensive and largely useless battleships, their Radar was limited and inferior. They attempts on nuclear energy would have been laughable except for the remote prospect of success. The one thing to remember about the Germans in WWII was that they triumphed against any state which was utterly unprepared for their wickedness. As soon as the met a resolute enemy they were the losing side, and the ultimate stupidity of their Russian campaign, where their much vaunted technology simply did not function in winter conditions, cost them millions of men and, ultimately the war.And if I have not mentioned the US contribution, it's because Hitler never seemed to comprehend the colossal depth of the US economy. Once moved to engage it was going to be incomprehensible that such an enormous engine was going to be defeated by comparatively tin pot German economy.

Did US steal German technology?

Post WW II, there was a race between the Russians and the "Free World" for the brightest minds and existing prototypes in the German war technology department.
Deals were made to cover the scientist past if they went to one side or the other. The US at the time was the biggest winner of the minds- Russia got most of the prototypes.
Funny how times change- it used to be that great minds wanted to come to the US. Now they want to go to Russia or Red China. My how times have changed! It seems Germany hires the US government to spy on its citizens- just have to wonder what country Obama is going to let out the contract to for spying on US citizens.

Russia vs US? Military technology?

Depends on what you consider 'military technology'. If you mean equipments with a lot of sophistication and gizmos to make the job easier, the US would excel. If you want equipments that excel in 'dirty' and extreme conditions, the Russian tech would be a better alternative.

I'll give you a pilot's analogy to explain. The Tu-154 for example, can fly in very harsh weather and airport conditions, including gravel or iced runways with length of 750 metres. The trade-off is analog avionics and a lower passenger cabin comfort. The Boeing 737 is on the other hand has very advanced avionics and excellent passenger comfort level. The tradeoff is, airports have to be 'prepared' to handle Boeing 737s and the aircraft is quite expensive to maintain.

At present, there is a generation gap between Russian and American military aircrafts, owning to the severe economic recession of the 90s. It was a struggle to survive which led to massive military cutbacks. This has changed the Russian military policy to one of a greater reliance on missiles and asymmetic weapons, which ensure more efficiency at lower costs (both in terms of money and manpower).

U.K. technology vs American technology. How is the U.K. any different!?

We have invented all sorts of things Americans rely on every day.

I can say with pretty high certainty that the processor chip that runs your cell (mobile) phone is British designed.

There is a good chance that the a member of the same British family of chips is controlling all sorts of electronic devices in your home/car that you didn't even realise had computer technology in it. It is the most ubiquitous processor core on Earth.

We also invented the modern computer - that is a computer that can run different programs.

EDIT @majordun:
1. Patents: Quality not Quantity. Some companies particularly in the US will attempt to patent anything (including bits of the human body). Many are dubiously (or flat not) enforceable.
2. GDP - you are cheating! Try GDP per captia instead it takes account of the fact that some countries have more people. The difference is much smaller then, and half of western Europe comes above the US.
3. How does the size of the military have a bearing on a countries ability to invent things?
4. As I understand, where Sharia law is used in the UK, it has little difference to "settling out of court". It is only used in civil cases where *both* parties have agreed to it.

At that point you are effectively agreeing to opt out of the normal civil court system and use a set of principles that both parties agree on, judged over by an independent arbitrator.

This happens all the time. It's just in this case the parties have used religion as the basis to draw up these principles.

Which country is more technologically advanced; Germany or Japan?

I’ve lived for a time in both countries. I notice many similarities between them. There are a number of interesting and conflicting answers that have already been provided for this question, many of them from an engineering perspective. I guess the correct answer would depend on how the question itself is interpreted; if the question, “which country is more technologically advanced?”, is really the same as, “in which country is technology more effectively utilized in daily life?”, then I would say Japan.Japan has a significantly larger population and greater density, living off far less arable land, and importing significantly less. Germans export more and may enjoy greater productivity per hour worked, but Japan is more self-sufficient. Japanese cities are also safer and cleaner. Despite being so technologically advanced, the unique Japanese culture seems much better preserved. It’s also hard to make comparisons with regard to productivity and hours worked per week because the work-ethic and working culture of Asian societies are very different from the West. The appliances in a typical Japanese home tend to have superior features. With regard to cars, Japanese vehicles are at least known to be more reliable and a better value. Japanese vending machines are also great, though generally unsophisticated.I guess this is could be seen as a total digression but I think it’s also important to note that you can find excellent restaurants serving the cuisine of every major European country (or at least a Japanese interpretation of it) in Japan; in contrast, Asian restaurants in Germany serve trash. Cuisine is a very simple but important technology and my answer really only concerns the use of technology in daily life.Interesting to add my impression (and only that) here that with regard to the use of technology in daily life (a big part of that today meaning useful apps on mobile devices), urban China seems edging ahead of them both.

How did Soviet and US military technology compare?

It is a "yin and yang" comparisons. The Soviet tech was simple, more advanced and made to last. American tech was always "planned obseletion" and tended to evolve better. After the 90's Soviet tech obviously faded and became old and less advanced while American tech continued to evolve and became better. What the Soviets had in the 80's was better than ours but today they are still using much of that stuff and ours is constantly modernizing. Both Countries tech was either a complete new invention based of creative prototypes based on technology which either side was more advanced in or a stolen idea in which they perfected. Soviets came up with better hardware and armor while Americans had better electronics( in most cases). In every decade of the Cold War each side had "yin and yang" strengths and weaknesses. In the 50's the US had deployable nukes and better navy and air force while the CCCP had much better small arms and ground armor. In the 60's that stood tru untill the 70's and 80's when the Soviets had made much better use of electronics in the field of combat then the US and the CCCP had a much larger and more advanced Air Force. In espionage the Soviets were always trail-Blazers and probably still the leader in technology we "don't know about". In the 80's the Soviets had a clear advantage in technology, armor, numbers and tactically deployable nukes. Americans would have the advantage in small scale Special-Force type operations but in open war even without nukes, Soviet combat-ready and tactical savy war tech was superior.

Which is more technologically advanced, Japan or the US?

As with so many of the questions posed on Quora, the answer is “it depends!”, and this is a more complex area than it first appears. In some ways, Japan can seem advanced in terms of technology compared to the US or some other western countries. One example might be public transport. Trains that are for the most part on time, a safe high speed rail system that crosses almost the entire country, efficient internal flights with local airports across the country. Another might be toilet technology - yes, you heard me! Japanese toilets are renowned worldwide for their advanced features and automation. In other ways Japan can seem antiquated.Connectivity: WiFi access is extremely limited (although this IS improving) and “Free” WiFi often involves registration, payment (or both).Professional communication: Fax machines are often used (I like them, but they aren’t advanced!)Banking: Banks (until recently) had very limited opening hours, and many ATMS are not available 24 hours. International money transfer can seem complex and overly complicated.Daily life at home: Many washing machines don’t use hot water. Double glazing is rare. (Not to say that these things are essential and in fact, not having them may have benefits, but Japan feels less technologically advanced to me in this way.)Cyber security: Until recently there was little awareness of this at the governmental level and even now attempts to improve in this area appear to be little more than face-saving exercises in the face of international competition and local criticism. Finally, where technology is often thought to be advanced, such as robotics, in reality uptake of that technology will be glacially slow compared to the USA. Japan’s robotics industry may make the news (customer service androids, robot guides at airports etc,) but for the most part it has made NO inroads in the lives of the general public.Although only my impression, I do get the impression that citizens of the US actually take up and use new technology faster than Japan (self-driving cars, e-readers, Smart Phone penetration: 72% v. 39% in Japan)Let me finish by saying that I am not a US citizen. I’m originally from the UK - but I did live in the US briefly some time ago and visited on business many times.I’m looking forward to hearing what other contributors have to say on this! Thanks for reading!:-)

Does the US have the best military technology?

lets take aircraft

the f16-or f18 and the mig

the f16-18 had much better electronics, fly by wire, and missiles

the russian mig was more old school, but could pull more g force, and fly faster and longer

the russians seem better at using the tech they have, american go for cutting egde gadgets, sometimes for the worse

reminds me of the (false) thing in space travel
the americans spent milliions inventing a pen that could work in space with no gravity, temp variations

the russians just used a pencil

How great is Japan's technology compared to the United States?

The iPhone sales are picking up, and Japanese cell phone companies have been releasing a lot of phones that look a lot like the iPhone. The iPod got off to a slow start in Japan too, but now it dominates the market just like in the West.
The reason is not so much that Japanese phones are better technologically, but that Apple has been slow to adapt its products to the Japanese market. For example, on the first release of the iPhone, Japanese text entry was horrible, you couldn't use emoji (emoticon-like pictures, which might not sound too important, but for Japanese people they are), it didn't view Japanese web sites properly, etc. That stuff is mostly fixed now.
It's also a bit of a myth that Japan is super-advanced technologically. In the case of cell phones, yes, it used to be light years ahead of the West, but it's not 1995 any more; some other countries have caught up (Korea) and even the US is getting close. In some areas, Japan is a bit ahead (Japanese electronics makers typically release their new products in Japan a year or so before they release them overseas). But I could point to other areas where you would laugh at how behind-the-times Japan is. How many US homes still use a VCR, or a TV with an antena to pick up broadcasts, or don't have central heating / AC? Japan isn't all robots and talking toilets.

Nazi Germany vs U.S.A ww2?

Nazi Germany wins
Unlike everyone else i actually read the question and the rules about the fight and it says Germany controls all of Europe except for USSR territory so it doesn t need to import since it controls the whole continent and can supply its oil need from the north sea (Scandinavia) and everything else from places it controls in Europe. Also since they dont have to deal with any other country s except for america they can focus almost completely on america(a little bit on USSR to protect borders. Germany has better Technology better trained soldiers better guns, tanks, submarines and better military leaders. America originally could out produce and send out a lot more troops but since Germany has all of Europe under its control it can be equal or superior on those aspects. USA will have control of the pacific from their superior naval numbers but Germany could use their technology superiority to out gun the united states and they could match their production since they own all of Europe. If the united states tries to invade they will lose badly and it will weaken them immensely. The war would last a long time since they are both extremely powerful but the united states has no chance of winning since they are out classed on everything but its still not an easy win for Germany since the united states can support and produce a ton of troops and equipment. Germany would win for sure with these circumstances but if they were the circumstances that they had in the real world war 2 they would lose from being out manned out produced.
