I've burned a movie onto a disk but it isn't playing on my DVD player?

Hello, I know the reason why your burned DVD can't play on your home DVD player, but can play fine on your PS3, because you just directly burned your AVI movie onto a DVD disk as a data DVD without convert to right video dvd format, you should note, most DVD players only recognize video dvd format, can't recognize AVI movie file on DVD disk, but PS3 can recognize some special AVI movie files well on DVD disk, so you'd better use a right software to convert your AVI movie file to right video dvd format then burn onto a DVD disk, that would be played well on your DVD player, you can follow me to use RZ DVD Creator, it can convert any formats movie files to video dvd format and burn to any DVD disk, such as convert your AVI movie file to video dvd format then burn onto a DVD disk, easy to use, insert a DVD disk into your computer dvd burner drive, run RZ DVD Creator, select the dvd burner drive as the target folder, drag and drop the AVI movie file into the software, then press the START button, you will get a right video dvd, and you can watch the burned video dvd well on your DVD player, you can yahoo or google search and download RZ DVD Creator, hope it could help you too.

Can you burn pictures onto a DVD-R disc? i have lots of home pictures but needing to put them on a disc.?

Absolutely. You can use a Dvd-r just like a cd-r. If you have windows xp put your blank dvd in the dvd burner. Go to my computer and select whatever drive letter your dvd burner is. Probably the D drive. Once that is opened up you can drag whatever files you want to the blank dvd. After that is done it will tell you that there are files to be wrtten to the disk. Do that, and you will have your pics on a disk. The beauty is that you can fit about 5.5 cdrs on 1 dvd.

How to burn home video onto DVD?

There are a couple of approaches to this:

1. Burn a CD or DVD with files that a DVD player can recognize. For example, most newer DVD players can recognize and play MPEG video files. I am sure there are others. Check your DVD player documentation.

By the way, I think the THM files are just some sort of descriptors. The .mov files are the ones that play on the pc.

This method will depend on individual DVD players' capabilities.

2. Create "real" DVD's, like the ones you get at the video store. These are much more complicated and require video editing software and DVD creation software. (This is different than DVD burning software which just writes your files on a DVD.)

DVD creation software goes through a "rendering" process which places all your audio and video into special standard files. It can take hours.

Even then there is no guarantee of universal compatibility. Home equipment is just not as good as professional equipment. Still, you can get most DVD+R and DVD-R disks to play on most DVD players.

Good Luck

Which program can i use to burn downloaded movies to dvd?Ive already tried nero .?

BIN and CUE files are disk image files.

You need Image Mounting sofware such as Alcohol 52%

http://trial.alcohol-soft.com/en/

Use the link to download a 30 day trial version.

What this software does is creates a virtural cd/dvd rom drive on your pc. You then have to mount your bin and cue files on this device, it will be like file/mount image - then search for where your bin and cue files are, I think you may only have to mount the cue file.

Right gets a bit tricky from now on....

Once the image is mounted you can open the virtual drive and find the files like you would on any dvd (thats provided it is a dvd rip - if it isnt you need to copy the files onto say your desktop and use nerovision to convert to dvd files), either way drag and drop the files to your desktop.

Assuming that the files are dvd files ie vts and vob, you need to check the size of the files in total, I would guess that they would be in the region of 9GB. Naturally these wont fit onto a standard blank DVD so you need to shrink them. You do this by using a program called DVD shrink, you can get it at the following link

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_...

When you run this, you will have a program box with two buttons, one called open disk, one called open files, in your case you would need to open files so click that and point to where you have dragged your files from the image, you only need to select the folder not any individual files. Remember this will only work with DVD files (vts & vob), then hit backup. Then you can select what you want to do, ie back up to a new file or direct to DVD, I usually backup to file first. Once this operation is complete you should have a folder of DVD files for your movie that you can burn onto a blank DVD using nero.

If you have copyright errors during the DVD shrink stage you will need a program called DVDFab decrypter link here

http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm

When running this you simply select the source and destination (again id save to file) which will remove any protection, however this does not shrink the dvd so if you do this, you will have to use DVD shrink to compress it.

Sorry it's a long drawn out answer and you probably know about the other software and how it works, just thought I'd put up a start to finish guide.

Hope this does indeed help you.

When burning a DVD disk, should you go slower or faster?

When you are burning a DVD or CD, there is one factor to take into consideration, and that's simply how fast your program can actually burn the DVD.Here's what happens in a nutshell...When you start the program, and queue up your data to be burned, whether it's pictures, videos, documents, or programs, the data is basically written into a virtual disk. When you insert the physical disk, the program registers this, and looks at the size to see if it is sufficient for the amount of data.  If not, it will tell you so, either by showing a bar graph in the red, or just outright telling you it's too much. Most burner programs have an option to test the burn, buy doing a virtual burn, without actually burning the disk, and just looking at the DVD or CD surface to see if there are any flaws in the write area. When the program begins to burn the CD/DVD, it feeds the virtual disk into a buffer, which is basically a storage of data waiting to be written.  The buffer is meant to feed the data to the actual burn process in a continuous, uninterrupted feed.  If the buffer empties while there is still data to be burned, then the program will experience a "buffer underrun", and fail the recording process.  The burn cannot pick up where it left off, so the disk is trashed. We call this a "coaster", since all it's good for now is to hold your cold drink while you begin to burn another disk.If you are using the fast option, it means the burn process is recording the data at a faster speed.  You will likely see the buffer indicator move up and down a lot during the process, but this is normal, and as long as it remains at least partly full, the burn process will continue. However, if the process causes the buffer to underrun, then the disk is being written to too fast, or there is a problem with your data, or disk.If you do get an underrun, then go to a slower burn speed and try again.  If it fails again, there may be an issue with the files you're trying to record. If the disk fails, your data on the computer is still safe, and you can try the burn again, or find another means of backing the files up.  You've only lost a blank CD/DVD, with usually costs less then a dollar.  If you try burning to a re-writable DVD, then all you usually have to do is reformat and try again.

How can I burn copies of a DVD? Is it possible to do this at the library?

“How can I burn copies of a DVD? Is it possible to do this at the library?”Well first of all “burning” a DVD requires a DVD burning drive and I would rather doubt that a public library would have DVD burning drives installed into their public accessible computers.Next ripping & burning a DVD requires special software and I’m going to bet that those same public access computer will not have this software installed and they will have an acceptable use policy that will forbid installing unauthorized software without special permission first and I’m going to guess they will NOT allow you to install software designed to illegally copy licensed media. Finally, copying commercially produced movie DVD media is against the law.
