Wacom Bamboo Fun Not Working In Gimp

Wacom Bamboo Tablet Touch Pen Not Working?

Hello! The EXACT same thing happened to me, and I just fixed it. I found out, in my case at least, is that the driver software wasn't installed properly, and it causes the tablet to only recognize really basic functions. What you need to do is install the new driver software from the Wacom website. After doing that, mine was fully functional (although I can't access the tutorial that comes on the disc, can't figure out why.) I don't know what computer and software you use (I have a PC and Windows Vista. My tablet is a Bamboo Pen and Touch, CTH-460) but here's what I did:

http://www.wacom.com/CustomerCare/Drivers.aspx
Go to this website and type in what kind of tablet you have and your operating system. There's a drop down list, and as soon as you select your appropriate answer, it automatically takes you to a list of different drivers. First on the list is what I went with, since it seemed to be the newest.

Download it, save it somewhere you'll remember it, and close the window. I recommend shutting down all other programs, like closing the Internet or any applications you have running. I even turned off my anti-virus program, but that was probably overkill. Once it is finished downloading, go to where you saved it and open it. Depending on your computer, it'll ask if you want to run the application. Do run it, and follow the prompts. It'll install (in my case) the Bamboo Dock, which is sorta like a command center. Once it's finished installing (be patient, it might take some time), it'll ask you to restart your computer.

After it's done restarting, if your tablet is plugged in, Bamboo Dock will automatically open up. Your tablet should also be restored to either the way it used to be or to default (mine never worked properly at all until I did this, so I'm not sure if it saves any custom settings.) I finally got it working.

If there's anything that goes amiss, or you need further help, I'd be happy to give what advice I can. :)
Hopefully I helped you get it working again, and sorry for the WALL OF TEXT- those can be really daunting to read.

My Bamboo Fun Tablet isn't working!!!?

I have the medium Wacom Bamboo Fun Pen&Touch Tablet and the pen isn't working. The orange light goes off when i hover it above the pad but it doesn't draw and the eraser doesn't do anything either. the tip isn't round anymore but that shouldn't stop the eraser should it? The touch is working fine, but the button that turns the touch on and off doesn't actually say TOUCH ON or TOUCH OFF on my computer screen. Whats wrong with it? Has this ever happened to you? Help!!

Monoprice not working with GIMP?

I use a Wacom - a cheap bamboo one with GIMP 2.8.6 - it works.

First make sure you got GIMP 2.8.6 from the official website at http://www.gimp.org - don't download it from anywhere else.

Before you trash your own tablet, visit the manufacturers website and download the most recent drivers for your device, uninstall the old ones, reinstall the new ones, restart your computer, plugin the tablet. Launch GIMP using the pen to double click the GIMP icon.

If it's still not working then get a wacom.

My Wacom pen stopped working, what should I do?

This has happened to me before. These are suggestions for if the Wacom pen (in general, and not only in your drawing software, doesn’t work)Here’s a few things you could try:1. Restart your computer. See if it works. If it doesn’t, continue onto number 2.2. Launch the Wacom app (not sure what it’s called as I’m on a different device right now, but it’s the W icon for Wacom) and make sure all the updates are installed.3. Do the same for your laptop.4. Restart after these steps and see if it works again.5. Untwist the head of your pen (if it easily allows you to) and check the pen nib to make sure it’s not too worn down or loose.6. Uninstall the driver for your pen/tablet and reinstall it.7. If that doesn’t work, contact Wacom’s technical support. Sometimes they can give you further guidance or tips, and if not, hopefully your product is under warranty still (so long as it is not damaged by yourself, of course). If the pen is simply not working when you try to draw in a certain program (like Paint Tool SAI or photoshop), you may have to reset your pen sensitivity, or remove and reinstall the software again.Best of luck!

Does a Wacom Graphire 4 tablet work with Gimp?

The only problem you may have is since Graphires are now discontinued, the drivers may not be updated for modern operating systems like Windows 7 or 8, or Modern Macs, or may not exist at all for Linux. Check on the Wacom website to see if you can get drivers for your operating system http://www.wacom.com

Failing that, buy a wacom bamboo, just one of the cheap ones under $80. They are better than the old Graphires anyway since they have more pressure sensitivity levels.

All modern Wacoms work with GIMP on modern operating systems.

How do you get your wacom tablet to work on ubuntu?

On recent distributions it should work 'out of the box', but experience thought me otherwise. As stated by Ian Omally the community can help you with your specific needs. There is also a great gui to help you setup your tablet: Wacom Control Panel http://gtk-apps.org/content/show...In Gimp and Inkscape you'll have to go to the 'input devices settings' and initiate the device.

Tablet isn't working with pressure in GIMP?

I doubt very much that mouse mode will allow pressure sensitivity. I think that may be the problem.

Have you tried GIMPs preferences? You need to click Edit > Preferences > Input Devices > then press Configure Extended Input Devices and make sure all the tablet devices are set to Screen.

Also if you are using a really large brush or if you are using GPS, you may need to switch off the brush outlines in Edit > Preferences > Image Windows.

Another thing to check is that you have set the brush in the tool options to react to the pressure sensitivity. Choose a brush, Go to the Tool Options, brush dynamics and make sure you check at least one of the boxes for pressure.

Here's a link where some of these things are discussed in detail: http://feeblemind.org/blog/index.php?pos...

Can gimp tell the angle that you hold a wacom pen?

Yes, GIMP's tablet settings have been largely improved since version 2.8 and can detect pressure, velocity, direction, tilt, and wheel (if you have a Wacom Airbrush Pen).  It will, of course, depend on the model of tablet that you have, but it sounds like yours should be up to the task. You can find the settings in the Wheel column in the Mapping matrix of the Paint Dynamics Editor (which, by the way, works even if you don't have a pen with a wheel).

I accidently spilled water on my wacom bamboo fun tablet but it works fine.?

No, it's perfectly fine. Those cute little tablets are hardy. :)

But try not to spill anything else on it, because I'm sure that tablet's your baby. (Mine is at least... )

Now if it were one of those really, really expensive, $1000 tablets, I would believe that that is totally abnormal.

Now, if you want a tech-y type of answer, it might be because the liquids didn't reached the insides of the tablet, such as its processing unit or touch censor. If that's the case, well, you're a lucky dog.

Hope I helped....!
