Misuse of internet, email and work time ?
Check the disciplinary procedure to see if they give any examples of what they count as gross misconduct - if it is listed then they can argue that you should have been aware of this. Otherwise it would seem harsh to dismiss someone for a first infringement, if no offensive sites/material has been access or forwarded. A verbal or first written warning would be more proportionate. If you do get a warning you will then obviously have to keep your nose clean as if you do it again you will that much closer to being dismissed next time. If however you have forwarded emails or accessed sites that others may find offensive (not just porn) then it could be more serious.
Is Aim email the same as AOL email? if I do not want the emails who and how do i contact aol?
i just wanted to activate the AIM messenger but it prompted me for info and something came on about a free email account thenit says for 90 days or something but I do not want aol or aim email what can I do? to cancell it i see nowhere to email for help and then a big form comes on wanting tons of info and it is making me crazy!!

A challenging question to answer. I assume you know a little technical stuff.Got to email heders- You would be able to trace the IP from that email headers. You would first go the find the ISP for that IP. After you find the ISP you would need to reach the ISP and get the details of the user. When applying for a PhD program, how important is it to email a professor you're interested in working with?
I think it depends on the professor. As a professor, I used to receive about 10 emails a week from prospective students asking to join my program. It was obvious that some of these were "form" emails being sent to several professors. Some them indicated that the authors did not even know what my program was. Only rarely did an email spark my interest in a student. But in most cases, the emails were not strong enough for me to forward to our Graduate Programs Director for further interest. And I usually did not reply to these emails. Later I was the Graduate Director and found that most professors treated emails similarly.In order to get my interest, the email had show that the author knew something about what I was doing and had demonstrated previous work in the area. If a professor that I knew and respected recommended a particular student, and that student then sent me an email, that would take priority over all others. Thus, I highly recommend that someone who is going to send an email, do their homework to know what a professor's program is, whether or not they have funding for it and what the CURRENT status of the program is. Then ask a professor familiar with your work to recommend you to that professor you want to work with. Only then, send the professor an email and show you are interested in the work and know something about the program, it's objectives, where it currently is and how you can contribute to the program. Otherwise, don't waste your time writing emails that will never see the light of day.
Placing my photos into the body of an email.?
The way you suggested has a downfall. The picture can only be as large as the icon attachment, which is really small. The better way to do it is: 1) Convert the image(s) into a single PDF file. (Open the folder containing the image(s). Select all image(s), right click, and go to File, Print, change printer to Adobe PDF, then proceed through the commands to save as a PDF file). Note, your printer does not have to be hooked up to do this. 2) Open PDF file in Adobe Acrobat (NOT READER). 3) Save file as an HTML document. 4) Open your Outlook Express, set your stationery for mail to the HTML document. 5) Now e-mail yourself. The image will maintain its original size and resolution. I also experimented by forwarding the document multiple times and the stationery remained at the bottom with each e-mail.
