Want To Get Into Medicine But What Am I Supposed To Do

Is AP Euro a good class to take if I want to get into medicine?

Well....not really...but you might want to take it if you find it interesting. But why take it, get a bad grade, lower your GPA, and you find it boring. I take it and i find it interesting but if you don't find it interesting then don't bother. Plus in general on AP Classes, why are you taking them if you want to be a doctor? Ya know why? Everybody who sits with the college counselor gets so pissed of after they leave. Ya know why? Med schools dont except AP courses, so you will have to take those Chem classes and Physics classes and bio classes ALL OVER AGAIN! Even look at UCLA med school, NO AP CLASSES EXCEPTED. But if you can keep your GPA up and not lower it i really do recommend you take at least one, but SAT is most important and ec activities. I recomend that you drop it... really b4 it is too late.

My parents don’t want me to study medicine?

I can actually relate to what you're saying, because I went through the same thing--but for a different reason. I, too, wanted to be a dr., in fact, a medical missionary. I had a friend who was a nurse at a mission in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). She went on to get her medical degree, and became the dr. for the mission. I was the valedictorian of my class and could have had the grades to study medicine. However, my father absolutely forbade it. Back in the 1950's, there weren't many opportunities for young women as far as jobs went. We were relegated to be teachers, secretaries, or nurses. My father, who was very religiously strict, said that nice girls didn't go around looking at naked bodes. Therefore, no daughter of his was going to be a dr. I ended up being a teacher, and I taught for over 30 years. I hated every minute of it. I would recommend that if you really want to dedicate yourself to be a dr., inquire about financial aid and if you have the grades and background to study medicine, then do it. It will not be an easy road, but you need to fulfill your dream if at all possible.

I want to get into the medical field because I love serving people but I don't know what exactly I am good at and I'm scared of blood. What should I do?

What you can do is watch the medical shows on Discovery Health. They show emergency room, trauma, ambulance and medical mysteries. Those have bleeding in them as well as open fractures and other disfigurements. If you see that you are not dizzy or feel nauseous, you can continue to watch and sensitize yourself to blood. Then, if you can tolerate this, you can become a doctor, nurse or paramedic and tolerate blood.Otherwise there are other ways of helping people. You can become a psychologist or maybe an X-ray technician at the doctors office.

Could I get into a decent Medical School?

Hi, I am going to be a sophomore in High School next year and I want to know what my chances of getting into medical school are. I know it's a bit early to decide what I'm going to do with the rest of my life, but I have always wanted to be a doctor.
Okay, so here's more about me:
I'm 15, residing in New Jersey.
I have a 4.4 GPA (I have taken advances courses that weigh in a higher GPA)
I have a straight A or A+ average in all my high school courses.
Next year I'm taking 2 AP classes (Physics and Calculus) and 4 Honors classes (Spanish, History, English, and Chemistry).
I am extremely hard working and willing to do ANYTHING to get into a decent medical school.
I am going to get volunteer hours in the field of medicine in the upcoming years.
I am currently in the top 1% in my high school class (either 1st or 2nd, not sure)

I want to get a decent scholarship into a medical school as well (don't want too much debt).
I know it's very early to judge whether or not I can get in, but any help/guidance would be much appreciated.

I am a medical student, but I don't have interest in this field. What should I do to take interest in medicine like I have interest in software?

Seriously buddy do you think that there is some miracle pill that you will take and boom!!! And you will be master of medicine. NO,It's never gonna happen .If you want to build interest in medicine then go to the wards , learn some minor procedure, interact with patients, go through the case file and when you will see a smile on patients face during treatment, it will give you a an emmense feeling of satisfaction. Maybe that will build your interest towards medicineBut on the other hand if you have already found your interest in software and by any means you are in medicine then I would suggest get the hell out of here because no feeling is better than doing what you want.Hope you got what you want!!
