Was I Wrong To Give My Kid Coal

Give your kids a lump of coal for Christmas?

Are there any parents that REALLY give their kids nothing for Christmas because of their behavior? And I mean something that would merit this.
I'm just curious. I've never really known a person who did that but i'm assuming there are people who do.
I remember when I was a teenager, if I wasn't deserving of it, I would still get "Christmas" but my mom wouldn't get me the one thing I reallllly wanted. She would say, "You think i'm going to spend my hard earned money for something YOU want, when YOU want to disobey me?!" lol

Have any parents actually given their kids coal for Christmas?

In Christmas of 2011, My siblings and I woke up on Christmas morning and ran to our stockings! Everyone had a stocking, even the babies, and even our cats did. We often found fake coal in our stockings. You know, “coal” that unwrapped into chocolate. We got these in our stockings most years. That wasn’t anything special, but this year was singled out for a reason.Being the excited young children we were, as soon as everyone was up and had their Christmas pudding at the very least in front of them, we got right to presents. The present in question was the last one that my younger older brother opened. Let’s call him S.S is a bit of a brat. Okay, he was a lot a brat, especially at 12 years old. He still is, really, but that’s a story for another day.The first thing he noticed about this present was that it fit one of our OTHER family presents - the Duck Tape present. So this present was already pretty hard to open, and S is thinking “This HAS to be good!”, And lo and behold, the box proclaimed it to be Nerf Guns!S was ESTATIC! And of course there was more duck tape keeping it shut. So he began to realize that someone (obviously the parents) had doctored the present. And he begins to wonder if they just used the box for another gift. And so S opens it. And finds that the box had been filled with coal. He was crestfallen.(And then the oldest, let’s call him DJ, snuck off into our parents bedroom and shot him with the gun that had been displayed on the box. And S found it hilarious after it was revealed he still got the Nerf guns. )

Who was the kid who hung himself in Coal City Middle School?

urban legend...didn't happen.

Coal City-Coal City Middle School-The school is haunted by the spirit of a young boy who committed suicide. The boy apparently hung himself in the hallway, and was not discovered until the next morning. A red hand print has appeared and disappeared, only to reappear again. The choir teacher has reported hearing the sounds of someone running in the hallways when no one was present. There has been instruments played in the band room when no one was there the lights were off and the door closed. People have been touched by unseen hands, and cold spots have been felt around the school.

Did you ever get a lump of coal or bundle of switches in your Christmas stocking when you were a child?

If so, how did you react? We use to wrap bundle of switches for the kids occasionally as a joke. The look on their faces when they opened them was priceless. My niece who was 5 at the time, opened hers and quickly put it back in the box, looked around to see if anyone was looking. We all laughed and told her we were joking with her. She then had a big smile on her face.

Where can I buy a "Lump Of Coal", for a Christmas Gift?

I want to give a lump of coal as a Christmas Gift so the recipient will hopefully open their eyes to what they are doing is wrong. The recipient is used to receiving very nice gifts from me and I plan to wrap it nicely in multiple boxes....each box will reveal another box inside of it.....until they finally reach their Prize... I live in Southern California.

Has anyone ever really given just a piece of coal to a child for Christmas?

Actually yes.Now granted, it wasn't me. I remember my mother telling me about an incident involving a friend of hers with several children that were quite out of control. The mother kept warning her children that Santa was aware of how poorly they were acting and would punish them with coal if they did not quickly change their ways. These warnings went unheeded. The children continued the rampage of both disrespectful behavior and a complete lack anything that resembles children that appreciate what their parents do for them. That Christmas Eve after the children had gone to bed, their mother went out to her garage and pulled out a bag of charcoal. After taking several garbage bags and placing them around the tree to protect the carpet, she empty the bag of charcoal onto the floor where the presents would normally have a place of honor. The children woke up the next day and discovered that Santa agreed with their mother and left them coal. These disrespectful children completely changed their attitude and behavior in such a way that they were more kind, respectful and attentive to their mother and her wishes. And that lasted until they were adults. Even after they discovered it was their own mother herself that left the coal under the tree. While it has been 40 years since I was first told the account directly from my own mother. I can attest that it is true and that I was personally acquainted with the children involved.Oh, if you're wondering whether the children actually got presents that year - They did. But their mother waited almost 30 days to give the gifts to them.

Why is it not advisable to sleep in a closed room with burning coal in the fireplace during winters?

In a closed room, the supply of fresh air is almost negligible and since for burning oxygen is required.Due to the burning the available oxygen gets depleted and it leads to incomplete burning of coal and it leads to formation of carbon mono oxide which is very poisonous. In addition the burning of coal releases sulphur also which is a toxic gas.Never sleep in a closed room with burning coal.

What happen if human eats coal?

Digest it into something usefull, no. Charcoal is given to absorb toxins in the digestive tract such as heavy metals, excess alcohol/drugs etc. Carbon is also a component in dog biscuits as it gives them a nice coat, no idea if the same applies to people but I guess we have less hair and more shampoo.Coal however is full of all sorts of nasties such as heavy metals which are posionous, plenty of carcionogens (aromatics etc), and sulphur which will give you wind.Charcoal/carbon is therefore good, coal bad
