Rude to not ask my mother-in-law to ultrasound?
I'd call your doctor's office first and ask how many are allowed in the room. That may clear you of any bad feelings right away if they only allow 1-2 people. Otherwise, do what you feel comfortable doing. If you think she may ruin this moment for you and your husband by making silly comments then don't invite her. This should be a fun and happy time for the two of you, not one where you're waiting for her to pipe up and kill the moment. If you don't invite her along do either ask for extra pictures or print off a couple and maybe frame them for her. ETA: I don't think telling a little white lie will hurt in this situation. Just tell her the office said you can only have up to 2 people accompanying you to the scan. What she doesn't know won't hurt her.
Should Mother-In-Law Come To Our Baby's Ultrasound?
That's a decision you and your husband need to make. If you both agree that it should be just the 2 of you, then that's the way it should be. My doctors office only allows 1 person in the ultrasound room with the mother. Personally, I'd tell her she's not invited, but I will gladly bring her her own sonogram picture after the appointment. If you let her railroad you now, watch out. She'll expect to be in the delivery room and be the first person to hold the baby.
Do you get pictures with the vaginal ultrasound?
Yes you will..the reason they do it like this is because in early pregnancy...its difficult to see the baby through a regular ultrasound..therefore..they use the vaginal ultrasound because it is much closer to baby! you will get the same pics..maybe even better!! just a lil uncomforable but its fine! Is a "baby gender reveal party" obnoxious or is it just me?
I agree totally with you and would roll my eyes also. I have never heard of such an unnecessarily indulgent party!, this is their exciting news between them for starters. A party for this is like a big old show off thing. Oh the fake smiles in that room whilst yawns and rolling eyes are hidden. A phone call would suffice, make like you have to work, are going out already etc etc, don't waste your time - they can phone you and then you only have to fake beaming smiles for the duration of the call. What next?, a celebration for the brand new Mother who managed to 'go' following a week of constipation lol!! I asked NOT to be told the gender of both mine, boy then girl, although I can appreciate that this information is not particularly interesting to anyone else
