Was On A Probation And Now Married To A Us Citizen

Do i have to be citizen or permanent resident to become a probation officer...i am legal but not citizen?

I would suggest finishing a 4 year college degree if you can. Most probation officer jobs require a 4 year college degree. If you attend a police academy now, you might have to attend it again if you don't get a job soon enough. You have to be a citizen to get most law enforcement officer jobs. Getting law enforcement officer jobs is becoming more and more competitive. I would focus on your education and doing whatever you have to do to become a permanent resident and citizen. Int the meantime, do whatever else you can to make yourself the best candidate that you can. For example, don't do anything illegal, maintain a good reputation, keep a good driving record, don't get bad credit, improve all of your communication skills as much as possible, practice to improve your observation and memory skills, do some regular volunteer work, and become as physically fit as you can. Best of luck!

Can I leave the country on bench probation?

If it is a condition of your probation that you not leave MO, you have already violated it. If it is NOT a condition of your probation that you not leave MO, it is not very likely that you have a condition that would bar leaving the US. Such a condition is uncommon in bench probation, but only you know your conditions. If that IS a condition of probation, the only valid advice anybody can give you is--don't violate the conditions of probation!

Applying for citizenship?

There are in fact four ways to become a US citizen via military service. The first involves applying for US citizenship during times of armed conflict or war. When the US is in armed conflict, the US military often recruits heavily, and will sometimes recruit qualified immigrants as well as US citizens. For immigrants entering the US military during times of conflict and war, it is possible to apply for naturalization without paying the citizenship application. As well, applicants can apply after only one day in military service. In many cases, those actively serving in the US military have their applications expedited so that naturalization may occur in as little as six months. This applies to both undocumented and documented immigrants. However, immigrants applying for US citizenship through military service must meet general qualifications for citizenship – including passing literacy tests – and must honorably complete their term of service to avoid losing their citizenship.

How hard is it to get a us citizenship?

Well it entirely depends on individual history. You come into the USA on legal status, get a job, work 5 days a week, drive your car safely without any citations & tickets & apply for green card after met with all the requirements. If everything went well, one can get their green card in a 5/6 year period based on the category under which his GC was processed. And after getting GC one should stay inside the country for 5 years to get eligibility to apply for citizenship. On average one can get citizenship in 1 year period. There are other ways to get GC, which is the though part in the process, such as filing GC under EB1 category, investors GC, marriage to a GC or citizen, etc

Once you get U.S. Citizenship, can it be revoked?

Once you get U.S. Citizenship, can it be revoked? This question lacks important information. The starting question is: why are you a U.S. citizen? In general U.S. citizenship can be obtained by birth or by naturalization.Citizenship by birth:If you are born in the United States your citizenship cannot be revoked by the U.S. Government - a principle affirmed by the U.S. Supreme Court in Afroyim v. Rusk (14th amendment protects individuals from the Government confiscation of citizenship). If you received citizenship by birth because you were born outside the United States to U.S. citizen (parent/parents) you do NOT have the protection of the 14th amendment and in theory your citizenship could be revoked.Citizenship after birth by naturalization:Assuming that citizenship has not been fraudulently obtained, naturalized U.S. citizens have the 14th amendment protections described in Afroyim v. Rusk - the Government cannot revoke your citizenship. If the citizenship was fraudulently obtained, then revocation of citizenship is rare but possible. The citizen has the right to renounce U.S. citizenship. But, renunciation of citizenship may subject them to the S. 877A Exit Tax (wealth confiscation) rules.Renouncing US citizenship? Can someone in probation be the petitioner on I-130 "Petition for Alien Relative"?

The only time a background check is run on the petitioner is through IMBRA the International Marriage Broker Regulation Act and it only applies to people who met their fiance(e) through a marriage broker.

Other than that, no. There won't be a background check and his record won't affect his sponsorship of you.

What's it like to work as a U.S. Probation officer?

It can be frustrating and rewarding because you are trying to get people to change their behavior, and comply with laws and supervision rules. For some people, probation is the first time in their life they have ever been held accountable for their actions. (They don't like it.)It is rewarding when people “get it” that you are trying to help them become better people. The successes are there but the amount of work the failures cause is horrendous. A revocation packet can be up to 100 pages. You have several long forms to conplete to revoke their supervision. Once you learn not to get overly invested in your clients outcome, your life gets easier. General caseloads are not bad. But sex offender and high risk caseloads can be a beating. Sex Offender caseloads have about 3 times the paperwork, but you have less people to supervise.

Can I be a probation officer in the U.S if I'm from Mexico?

When I was two years old my parents brought me to the U.S illegally I've been living here almost all my life, and have been attending school from kinder all the way through high school. I am currently 18 years old and I will be starting college in the fall. I have completed the dream act and I'm working on the deferred action. My Question is if I can become a probation officer. Can I become a probation officer once I complete the deferred action? Or will it be impossible. I need to know so i will be able to change my major in case I can't pursue this career. I've never been in trouble with the law, and I've always gotten good grades in school. I have tried researching this for a while now and I can't seem to find the answer. I really want to know if It's possible for me to be a probation officer in my situation. Please any information will help.

Marriage Green Card application with petty theft?

Hi everyone,

My background: I'm a H1b visa holder working in US, I married a US citizen recently, and now I'm applying marriage green card.

But I have one big concern of my previous stupid mistake, pls read the following:

I was arrested, charged and convicted for petty theft(408a) as I shoplifted a just $34 computer mouse in a store when I was a college student in CA in 2007, it is a misdemeanor, and there is no jail, have a $400 fine. My lawyer negociated with judge to allow me to apply for the charge reduction to trespass(602) if I completed the 18 months probation, so after I completed the probation, I request the court to change the petty theft to trespass conviction, and court approved this. Then I also request the court to expunge this conviction and I got approval by court in 2010 and finished the expunge.

I'm now filling the 485 form, and yes I will answer all the truth info of my previous criminal history, and attach all the needed court disposition paperworks and proof.

So my exact concern is: after the face-to-face gc interview, I believe the immigration offcier will approve my gc application later, BUT will it be as quick as the same as the regular case(no criminal)? Or will it be take longer for some duration like several additional months to get gc approval?

This concern really bugs and nerves me a lot, can anyone who has experience of this give me some expectation what will happen?

Any helpful reply are appreciated, Thanks in advance!
